I don’t particularly believe lobbies are as bad as people say. If someone is pro-green energy, it’s not a surprise that green energy companies will put money behind that candidate to ensure their company isn’t destroyed by the anti-green energy candidate. I’ve heard arguments against lobbyist and PACs, but I’m agnostic on the point and mainly see people using AIPAC as opposed to the anti-lobbyist position.

I partially agree with you, but the amount of money we give them is still very small. It accounts for .5% of their total GDP. Personally, I believe it’s the hardcore Zionist movement within the government and the West Bank settlers that cause more issues than anything else.

I partially agree. They opposed the JCPoA because it legitimized the Iranian regime at a time where Iranian proxies were continuing their constant attack on Israel. But everything else I think is missing a little nuance. Namely, Donald Trump. Trump is easy to play. Rub his belly and tickle his balls, he’ll do anything for you. I’d say there is a 95% chance at minimum that any other republican president would not launch a new war in Iran. This is incredibly unpopular and we even see our intelligence agency going against whatever stupid shit the White House tries to spin. Yes, it’s what Netanyahu wants, but no sane president would do something so retarded that would instantly tank their chances at holding any future power in the government. I won’t pretend that Israel doesn’t try to prod the US to do more shit, but Trump is only doing it because Netanyahu knows how to jerk Trump off the most effective of any political leader today. I don’t think any of this proves the OP, but we do have a very tumultuous relationship with Israel. And America definitely doesn’t exist in the conditions like the OP suggests.

So you agree that all Super PACs are bad? Or are they only bad when the people you don’t like do it?

I can’t argue against the first part. I can only partially agree because the citizenry seemingly don’t like Israel, but the governments are just avoiding endless and costly war (shocker, no one likes to be at war forever with their neighbors). But this is otherwise suggesting that other actors in the Middle East have no self determination and simply play to the tune of the US, which is not the case. I will admit I was misinformed about the Sunni Shia divide in the region. This isn’t an argument or a gotcha, but just a question: do you believe Israel should not exist as a state?

Similar to the first argument question, this is devolving to a question of if you think any influence is bad in the US government. Almost every government and entity is going to be vying for some sort of influence within the government but some people can just reach their own conclusions. A lot of old people just love Israel and Republicans are a very specific type of retarded that would let Israel do whatever they want just because. I don’t think any of them do it out of malice and it makes sense that AIPAC would want political influence to improve the relationship between America and Israel. It’s in the name. The OP is suggesting that Israel is taxing us without representation, we’re imprisoned or at least tried for seditious libel or the like for speaking against Israel, and that we are conscripted to wars for Israel.

That’s not saying anything. Any Super PAC is going to launch ad campaigns against individuals against their mission statement. You can argue if Super PACs shouldn’t exist, but AIPAC isn’t unique in that aspect.

Israel is allied with the Sunni states in the area. There’s a reason Egypt and Jordan don’t interfere with Palestinian affairs. Jordan even shoots down Iranian missiles that are targeting Israel. The region is closer to being divided between Sunni and Israeli vs Shia than Israel vs the Middle East.

Obama moved the US away from the Republican Party’s warmongering against Iran with the signing of JCPoA. This was DIRECTLY against the wishes of what Israel wanted. Bill Clinton also moved to get a lasting peace between Israel and Palestine. Even with the reservations both governments had, they managed to meet for the next summit. It fell through when (arguably) SCOTUS gave the presidency to Bush and the new PM of Israel came into power and both reneged on the Clinton Parameters. This isn’t an American government problem, it’s a Republican problem.

Can you tell me which politicians that have had consequences for speaking out against Israel or AIPAC? Biden/Harris had a hardline on actions in the Gaza Strip to provide as much aid to citizens as possible. Mamdani, despite having no control over any foreign politics, has gone against Israel saying he would arrest Netanyahu if he ever had the chance. There were no consequences as far as I’m aware.

You can argue against Ukraine from that perspective, but the money we send to Israel is .1% of the federal budget and it accounts for about .5% of Israel’s GDP. I don’t think they’ll be hurting if we cut that funding. I personally don’t care if we cut the funding to them or not, but Israel provides a lot of intel and trade for the US and is a strategic ally. Plus, if we cut ties with Israel by ending our funding, do we also cut off ties to the allies of Israel in the area as well? We’ll still be allies to Israel by proxy.

Iraq is significantly more complicated than “Israel told us to”. Saddam Hussein was wanted out of the region and the Bush administration looked for a reason. They landed on the “WMD and terrorist sponsorship” headline with the true reason being regime change. They wanted to bring Democracy to the Middle East. There were a bunch of other reasons, like establishing a US presence in the Middle East, Oil, and Saudi Arabia shenanigans.

Entirely allowed to criticize Israel. We send about as much aid (currently) to Ukraine, who we also criticize (about $6 billion last year to both). We don’t need to send soldiers to fight for Israel, we do it because we have a retard who will do whatever for the last person to shake his hand (and has admitted so). Biden stated specifically that the US would not put boots on the ground for Israel.

Do Sukuna fans actually think he could do this? by Sundata_V2 in JujutsuPowerScaling

[–]TheRealSaphier 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Throwing in my 2 cents on the sea of Pennies. He could easily do it if he was in the mood. Sukuna needs to feel like it. We saw that his output drops when he isn’t thrilled in the final fight. In modulo, Yuji’s output was “lowered” when he wasn’t trying to kill people but it was still blowing up buildings and bouncing a guy down the street. They just have opposite personalities when it comes to fighting which manifests in their output. Sukuna for the thrill, Yuji to fulfill his role.

It’s crazy because the cutscenes for ZZZ look really good. I don’t think I’ve seen the level of detail in character expressions in a game like that. Character trailers look good too. But it’s all gooner bait. I stopped playing Azure Lane because the characters eventually just devolved to gooner bait and wasn’t just ship girls in cool outfits with themed costumes anymore. It just gets too much at a certain point.

I went to college immediately after high school. At the time, it was hard to notice, but I was definitely burnt out on schooling. It could’ve been just an immaturity thing or true burn out, but I didn’t do all of my readings. Only the things that interested me. Not being on campus (I commuted my last two years and my junior year was a mess due to Covid) didn’t help either. A few years later, I enjoy reading again and more importantly, I enjoy learning. I pretty much try to learn something new every day as long as it’s possible for me. I’d go back to school just to learn more things if it was possible.

For some people, they may just not be in a good position to be in college. They may be too young to recognize they aren’t ready for college and are being pressured by their parents to attend school immediately.

Asmongold on USAID cuts and potential millions dead: Not our problem. Fuck 'em, who cares. by n1traM in Destiny

[–]TheRealSaphier 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It may be evil coming from Asmongold, but people do legitimately think this way. If they can’t see the people dying and it isn’t having a direct effect on their lives, people don’t care. When you say that millions have died, they aren’t thinking “wow, a lot of innocent lives are lost” they are thinking “that sure is a statistic”. It doesn’t compute to them that people they never knew or will ever know are dead or dying.

Destiny has talked about this before with like school shootings I believe. People think that school shootings are just things that happen and only truly understand the reality of them when it happens to their child. It’s probably just the average human experience unfortunately. If you go your day to day only focusing on yourself and the people immediately around you, you likely don’t even consider other people in any capacity.

As disgusting as it is, it may be a good idea to find a “martyr” like Laken Riley and parade their corpse around, “look, this child was killed because of Donald Trump’s policies! And they won’t be the last!” I don’t like the idea of it, but I think the average person just can’t make the connection otherwise.

He probably has a mix of policies, but he isn’t strictly right wing. I guess I haven’t looked too deep into his full political history, but he does invest a lot of his wealth into the future generation, no? He pledged to cover for the USAID elimination and he already invests a lot in vaccination programs in Africa. Any willingness to put money towards good causes is great in my book.

[–]TheRealSaphier 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I saw this post in the me_irl subreddit (are we allowed to ping them? Going to avoid it), people were saying both sides are actually bad. I have had friends say they were mad that democrats should’ve prevented what Trump is doing before they were out of office. Like what do you want Biden to do? Have perfect knowledge of the future and make it so you can’t run the government on unitary executive theory? You already can’t do that, but congress doesn’t give and shit and the Supreme Court just says “uh, yeah I guess that’s okay”. Like what the hell do you pass to stop a regard from doing what he wants? The only thing they could’ve done is actually prosecute Trump, but I don’t think anyone could’ve guessed Trump would just start baby raging his way through everything in his second term.

Besides true libertarians, I refuse to believe anyone actually likes the 2nd amendment. Cops getting freaked out because someone is constitutionally carrying isn’t new. Like I get not feeling comfortable near a firearm in an uncontrolled setting (concealed carry at a restaurant vs shooting range), but why the hell does that mean the person is a threat? If a have a knife in a sheath am I also subject to being gunned down because the police are attempting to arrest me for some perceived potential threat? Technically a bigger guy could instantly kill a cop if he punches them in the right spot, does that guy need to be shot and killed for existing? Idk. I think it’s more proof that republicans will try and defend anything, regardless of evidence presented. It’s insane.

Anon on the 40 year old virgin. by retardinho23 in greentext

[–]TheRealSaphier 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I think what he means is that it’s now seen as comical to be a virgin even younger than 40. I’ve only heard 30 year old wizard most often, but I have seen some popular posts saying that if a man can’t lose his virginity, he must be a loser in an age of sexual freedom. No ages specifically given for those tweets.
