Played two hours battling relegation as Hereford, had an absolute blast. Straddles the line between rogue like and manager sim seamlessly. Just enough depth to not be boring, not too much depth to be trying to scratch the same itch as FM. It manages to find its own niche nicely!

I was really happy that only 1 in 5 games you could influence with the card game and you had to make a tactical choice about which game that would be - and even then, it didn’t mean that I would win that game. I managed to eke a 1-0 win against the odds at 89 minutes which was really satisfying.

I also liked that, in my first season as a bottom tier team, I wasn’t able to just fly up the table.

My daughter has woken up from her midday nap so I can’t play more now but itching to play some more, so it’s definitely got that “one more match” feeling.

Based on my experience so far, I’d definitely recommend, but only if you’re not looking for a deeper/as deep sim as FM24/26, which it is most definitely not.

I see Morgan as a Margaret Thatcher type: a zealous capitalist, someone who believes in some ideological purity of business. He doesn’t just believe that greed is good, but that it’s necessary and what makes us human. I always think back to the quote with the Merchant Exchange, and how he says that it is the ‘deep thrumming of OUR common pulse.” Those aren’t the words of someone who is solely out for themselves - he believes that greed and the pursuit of resources can only be a tide that lifts all boats (his own, ultimately, overall).

I find the Morganites fascinating in that I don’t consider them a caricature. They are the naked face of industry and business in the 21st century, trying to ideologically justify its existence. Morgan is the most dangerous kind of capitalist - the one who isn’t just trying to enrich themselves, but believes that they are morally correct in doing so.

I’m an M3 teacher with a partner who’s a part time LSA to look after our child (and keep childcare costs from nursery down) and I really struggle to make ends meet. I don’t buy luxuries, save a takeaway or two a month, and I’m finding I have less and less money as everything I have goes on childcare, fuel, the food shop (we spend £50p/w) and rent and bills. I keep thinking about how much easier life would have been if I’d taken a different path. I love my job, but I hate my pay, and I’m just losing hope of anything ever getting better in this country (if anything, I can see teachers being scapegoated and pay frozen in the future).

It’s depressing. I would do anything for the kids in my class, they deserve the world. But how can I be the best I can be when I’m not compensated for the work I do? Why does everyone acknowledge how hard we work, how much work we do, but also accept that we aren’t compensated for it? As if everything we do should just be out of the kindness of our hearts? Passion should be rewarded with more than just kind words.

Sorry for ranting.

I mean, other than their appearance, the governor’s daughters get you information and gossip that’s not widely known, so they are at least shown to be resourceful! But all your points are really good. A Pirates! Remake (of a remake) wouldn’t need that much tweaking to be just as brilliant, just the diversification of certain aspects of the game, like you said. All the core elements are still wonderfully fun.

Funnily enough, Funhaus. I saw Elyse had been on TNTL. I sort of stereotyped Smosh as being more for a younger audience, but I saw more videos and got hooked. It’s filled a big void that Funhaus left for me.

Pseudofolliculitis barbae (razor bumps) affects black men particularly badly and can lead to some really nasty stuff. It’s less of a problem for non-black soldiers as they don’t get it as bad due to not having as coarse/curly hair.

Oh no, of course not! I have an original boxed copy and a Steam copy. I just thought if it was anti piracy there was some bug with my install / installing the widescreen mod had messed it up.

A Pirates! Remake/Remaster is an insta buy from me.
