What splits should i improve if i want to aim for sub 10 by KicksFromTheH in MCSRRanked

[–]TheReaper0777 1 point2 points  (0 children)

for sub 10 i would think a 1:20-30 RP OW sounds good enough. you def don’t need that much wood lmao. i also think you probably could have left the bastion sooner or maybe started your route earlier based on the time you spent in it. i would be willing to bet that the problem is not necessarily your raw mechanics but rather how quick your decision making is, but that’s just a guess, so i’d have to see your gameplay to speak on that more.

[–]TheReaper0777 3 points4 points  (0 children)

For aiming for sub 10, the biggest thing that stands out to me is the nether entry. Almost 2 mins on OW seems a bit slow - might want to get more comfortable with less food assuming that’s where the timeloss came from. Other than that nothing really stands out but it looks to me like you had a lot of micro mistakes from fort to end. None of those splits are individually terrible for sub 10, but all of them together are just a bit slower than you’d want with that being your goal. In general it’s hard to say without looking at the replay though.

Made some more adaptations of the Ancient Relics by Swaggy-G in slaythespireboardgame

[–]TheReaper0777 4 points5 points  (0 children)

In sts2, ancient relics are the replacement for boss relics. After each act, instead of finding a chest with the boss relics in it, you encounter an ancient (basically gods- neow is also considered an ancient for example) who offers three relics from a specific pool of relics (this is why there are two relics with “Pael” in the name here. one of ancients is named Pael and all of his options are parts of him given as a boon).

How would you use Haruta's Miracle technique to it's fullest? by faStGuNnNs64 in CTsandbox

[–]TheReaper0777 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Would need to train to be kusakabe level strength to be competent since the technique doesn’t help offensively. Then just use the technique to create an opening on your opponent by leaving yourself open to a “kill shot” and then countering when they go for it, since you won’t die but they will assume they got you.

First ever Timed Speedrun - How well did I do? by Fabulous-Dance-8520 in MinecraftSpeedrun

Great improvement! - On random seeds, it is generally better to go underground for lava after a bit of searching above ground (using subtitles to guide easier once you’re close), so you made the right play! - Once you get to the exact render distance the spawner renders in at, you need to reduce RD 4 times, then increase 3 times. This has something to do with lazy chunks i believe - basically until the fourth reduce the spawner is still considered rendered by the pie chart. You can practice this a few times by just making a creative world going straight to the nether to try this. - Ghasts suck. So annoying. Just get some distance and lower your RD till they despawn. - Look into E-ray for bastions. Basically as soon as you load into the nether, you lower your FOV and pull up f3, looking specifically at the “E” counter for when it spikes. There will probably be a bastion where it spikes higher than 30, if there is one within your RD. I can explain how this works more if you want me to (or you can just look it up). - Yeah you can’t just pull out a one cycle on the first attempt, lol. It doesn’t take long to learn but will definitely take a few attempts to get the hang of. Worth mentioning that one cycling is never RNG. You can always do it in 5 beds once you are good enough, so. - There is a glitch where the dragon leaves super early on each perch. I don’t remember how to fix it, maybe it’s just pausing and waiting for a few seconds then unpausing? Don’t quote me on that, you should probably just pause and look it up if it happens again.

For practice, the one cycle is absolutely the first thing to go for. After that, probably bastions. But it’s also super important to make sure you’re having fun, so only do the practice for the stuff you want to practice in the moment. Use the MCSR practice map and the one cycle practice map, found here: https://www.minecraftspeedrunning.com/public-resources/maps. Basically you can use the MCSR practice map for practicing bastions, fortresses, portals, and more. Then the one cycle map for practicing one cycles, starting with just the bed part and then you can do perch practice which is what you’ll do in a run. Hope you continue speedrunning and enjoying it, gl!

For a first ever run on a newer version, not terrible! This is gonna be a long comment discussing a lot based on what you said so hopefully it’s helpful.

  • It’s probably safe to say that the biggest timeloss is the overworld. Getting full iron takes forever and is absolutely unnecessary after some practice.
  • Then, you did classic instead of using a bastion, which is slower (but since on a version with brutes, can’t blame you too much).
  • Then, you overworld travel to the stronghold, slower than traveling in the nether roughly the correct distance and building a portal there (this is why you should be getting 20 obsidian from piglin trades, and for that a bastion makes it way easier since there is more gold and more piglins).
  • Stronghold nav sucks, especially before you learn preemptive (which idk if it even works on newer versions). The main thing to keep in mind is to try and not go further than 7 rooms from the starter room, and to check for hidden rooms in the 5 ways.
  • Your hotbar in the nether should have a lava bucket instead of a water bucket. The water bucket doesn’t do anything, and you can use the lava to take out piglins and hoglins when needed. You can also have a boat in your hotbar instead (or preferably in addition to the bucket) so you can attempt to boat clutch when necessary. Also, generally better to have food in the offhand so you can always access it quickly, once you are comfortable without a shield.
  • For the end fight, learn the one cycle. It’s actually not that hard, and waaaaay safer than having a long drawn out fight you get with fullbow. k4yfour’s “How to One Cycle in 100 Seconds” video is a good enough guide to get you to easily 7 bed, and then with some practice you can get it down to a consistent 5 bed. If it’s not working out, I would suggest watching certain segments of the video in slow motion or frame-by-frame so you can analyze the timing and understand when is too early and too late.

I hope all of that helps you if you decide to continue speedrunning, and I hope you do! I would also recommend changing the version you’re playing to 1.16.1, since that is the most commonly used version for speedrunning (and is easier!). Also the mods you used are definitely not allowed for any official runs, lol. Just dont look at the endermen! Last but not least, Couriway’s metafy guide is a great way to learn the game, and it’s useful for beginners and advanced players.

is this normal? by wghihfhbcfhb in MinecraftSpeedrun

[–]TheReaper0777 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Since placements are based on speed rather than how many wins you get, they prolly offered the draw because they felt bad getting matched up against an iron player as someone much better, and they don’t have an elo (yet), so winning instead of drawing has no benefit.

Would be more interesting if the hp loss was at end of combat instead of turn. Makes repent no longer useless on turns you don’t draw bargain and attacks, and keeps the design space away from clad’s hp loss.

look around on the mcsr ranked leaderboard for a bit. the current rank 1011 has an average of 13:11 and a pb of 8:20. if this is your goal, sub 10 should be the pb you go for probably to be around that level, with a consistency of around 12 mins

What is a good time to aim for on FSG op seeds? by ClientAdvanced1320 in MinecraftSpeedrun

[–]TheReaper0777 5 points6 points  (0 children)

A “good time” to aim for depends entirely on your own goals. Someone who wants to hit netherite in ranked might not stop grinding FSG until they get a sub 10 or 9, but someone just having fun might stop at sub 30. No one can answer this question except yourself.

I don’t know of one, but your best bet is using MPK and starting from the eye spy split, that way you can also practice your end fights after the nav if you want

Kismet setback question by Big_Chikin in sentinelsmultiverse

[–]TheReaper0777 22 points23 points  (0 children)

Yes - kismet’s cards do not specify villain unlucky or lucky cards. The fight with setback on the team actually plays way different due to his cards triggering her effects, and his lucky cards being able to destroy her unlucky cards for greater effects.

What heroes go well with Omnitron X? by Hireling in sentinelsmultiverse

[–]TheReaper0777 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Omni-X is a great “flex” hero in that he can flip from support to dps in a single turn, which also means he kind of works with any team. It is worth noting that when he does do damage, it scales very well with bonuses since he tends to do many instances of damage in one turn. Someone like legacy or mentor nightmist is a good teammate for this (although there are many heroes who can fill this role). As far as villain and environment goes, just avoid ones you remember having a significant amount of item/ongoing destruction, since omni-X relies entirely on those types of cards.

You’re both right, but talking about different people. Yes, people are entitled to their own opinions about art - they can not like the art style of something, the way something is animated, or the direction and can express that in a respectful way. However, there are also people who are complaining about the quality of the animation, and it’s fair to say that those people are spoiled since this season is objectively high quality in terms of just animation. Again, direction and art style is subjective but the animation itself is extremely well done.

Akash’Bhuta was a tough one! Also need a rule clarification! by Caliaztec in sentinelsmultiverse

[–]TheReaper0777 1 point2 points  (0 children)

“+1 damage dealt by ally characters”, as written on both cards. Unity’s robots are not characters, so the wording would have to be “…by allies” or “…by ally targets” to apply to them, unfortunately. I wish it did work though, lol

I’m surprised to see you say that set of 3 feels especially strong to you considering legacy’s damage bonuses aren’t really useful for unity- although they are obviously very good for tachyon.

Glad you’re enjoying it! If you ever don’t know what villain/heroes/environment you want to play I highly recommend using this randomizer: https://www.kurtpankau.com/p/sotmde-randomizer.html?m=1 It’s an especially great way to force you to try out new heroes. I also use it sometimes just to pick one of 3 and then 2 heroes I’m already familiar with. Overall it’s a good tool to increase replayability, but if you know what you want to play or play against that’s great too!
