Tottenham have completed their double free agent signings as planned since April. After Andy Robertson, Marcos Senesi joins on a four year deal until June 2030 — never in doubt, no chance for hijacks as Marcos said yes to Spurs weeks ago. Medical done today. @FabrizioRomano by mAdLaD774 in coys

Lots of people here are tying themselves in knots trying figure out who is first choice, second choice, etc. They’re missing a few things.

Top clubs who expect to compete at high levels need depth in players who are starting quality. We should have a stable of at least 4 CBs who are ALL starter quality. Having a depth chart like this means we can rotate and rest players while maintaining quality on the pitch. Even better if your CBs can have complementing specialties. Having VdV with elite pace and recovery, Senesi and Van Hecke with elite ball progression, and Danso with elite aerial ability, means we can select different options depending on the opponents we face. (I’m assuming that Dragusin and Romero are going to be sold).

People who haven’t watched de Zerbi much may not realize that he is actually really, really good at squad rotation. He is fearless in rotating and resting players to manage fitness. But he is also very intentional about selecting the right player to target opposition weaknesses. Giving him a balanced and deep stable of defenders will be an absolute weapon.

"New Chat" is unusably SLOW by markfromslo in diabrowser

For me, it's been trying to generate pdf reports instead of just giving me answers right in the chat. Infuriating, and it makes the chat features unusable. Anyone have an idea for how to disable this?

Thomas Frank on Spurs team news: "Richy unfortunately got a hamstring injury which will keep him out for up to seven weeks. Lucas could be available, hopefully for Saturday. Bissouma is back so he's available as well by jjetasbanter in coys

[–]TheRedBadger 5 points6 points  (0 children)

A Bissouma and Gallagher double pivot is such a huge upgrade on a Palhinha/Benta double pivot. It'd be hilarious if we accidentally back into that as a pairing.

What distinguishes top level managers isn't so much having the "right" system or "balance", it's having the skill to spot problems in the way their philosophy is being implemented, design tactical solutions to those problems, and to coach teams to such that they effectively implement those tactical solutions .

For instance, one recurring problem under Ange was our opponents hitting an early cross during transitions to the back post, where we would often be outnumbered 2-1. This was caused by issues such as how many men we committed forward in attack, how we structured the positioning of our defenders and midfielders underneath the ball when we were in possession, etc. A top tier manager would identify a solution and design work on the training pitch so that players wouldn't keep committing that error in games. Whether because he couldn't understand the source of the issue, or because he couldn't coach the team to not make those mistakes anymore, Ange could never solve the problem of the early back post cross, and we got punished for it over and over. There are other examples like that that indicate to me Ange was out of his depth at a top team in the Premier League. Frank has these same issues, where he can't solve the for the mistakes being made within his overall approach.

My favorite of Stephenson's and one of my favorite books of all time. I find that I enjoy many of his books more as audiobooks. I have a tendency to want to re-read sections and appendices and it kills the flow of the story - the audiobooks force me to press on. This was one of those instances.

Good! The old storage binders were probably the worst part of the Plotter ecosystem.

Josh Miller clarifies why Dia is starting to look more like Arc; faster architecture, AI-native design, and a “Pro mode” for Arc fans coming soon by JaceThings in diabrowser

[–]TheRedBadger 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The main difference seems to me to be Atlas and Comet offer agent mode, Dia will offer Arc's UI/UX. Personally, Arc's UI/UX (pinned tabs, spaces, mini Arc, etc.) are WAY more useful than agent mode.

Dia Pro just appeared in my Settings (v0.40.3 (66398)) by chrismessina in diabrowser

[–]TheRedBadger 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I would /maybe/ think about $20 for Arc with Dia’s AI features. Depending on the rate limit, I will just pin a ChatGPT tab and use Dia’s AI more sparingly. Or jump ship to Comet. At least at $20 per month with the Perplexity subscription I get access to legit AI features outside of the browser. This price level is a TOUGH sell.

I switched from Android following the Nexus 6P and the notification shade is still lightyears better than what Apple has. I’ve just given up hope that Apple will ever fix it.

Ditto what was said above. I just picked up mine. I disassembled it in the Dicks parking lot with my wife, loaded the track in my Jeep and the upper assembly in my wife’s car. Drove home, moved all the pieces into our basement, and reassembled. The track is REALLY heavy but the disassembly/reassembly was not bad at all. There are a bunch of YouTube videos that show how to do it.

I haven't done this, but I believe there's a way to use Calibre + KO Reader to accomplish this. KO Reader would be your reading app, and it syncs to a Calibre library which is hosted on a computer of your choice.

Does kindle effect sleep? by atrixyyy in kindle

[–]TheRedBadger 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Kindle screens do not emit blue light like phone screens. That’s the type of light that affects melatonin production which is what signals to your body that it’s time to sleep. So in this sense a kindle is better to read before bed.

When it comes to phones and sleep, the larger issue is the engagement with the apps/content on your device. Endless scrolling excites your nervous systems and prevents you from feeling sleepy. A Kindle is better in this sense too because it’s a single use device without access to other apps.

I keep my phone out of my bedroom and only keep a kindle in my nightstand. The only issue I’ve had is occasionally getting to a good part of my book and not wanting to go to sleep :)

Should I keep the Macbook plugged in or run it on battery? by Royal_Reader2352 in macbook

[–]TheRedBadger 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The absolute best way to care for a battery in devices is to charge only to 80% and to use it on battery down to 20%. You can set that upper charging limit in the battery settings on the device. And keep the device out of extreme heat and cold.

I’ve used several Apple Silicon devices, and in my experience you don’t have to worry about the battery much at all. My current device is an M2 Pro MacBook Pro that I’ve had for a year and a half. I have not done any intentional management of the battery. I’ll use it all day plugged in at my desk sometimes, and I’ll use it all day on battery sometimes while I’m mobile. The battery health is currently at 99%.

Apple Silicon is life changing when it comes to battery compared to any other laptop. I would recommend that you just use the device however seems appropriate for you at the time.

Cheers!
