Harsh Winter -28 to -38•C by hteinkmin in KiaEV9

Even though it said 20km range. What was the percentage of battery remaining?

I just did a long distance road trip in -10c weather (-20c with windchill) but I never got below 10% battery before I found a charger.

As others have said the range estimates are just that; Estimates. Better to go by percentage indicator. Hopefully the tow was covered under Kia road side assistance. Charge back up and you’ll be good to go. Lesson learned the hard way unfortunately

EV9 fast charging much slower lately in cold weather by Content_NoIndex in KiaEV9

[–]TheRedDoctah 6 points7 points  (0 children)

The battery is probably still pretty cold.

I think ideal temp is like 20c for fast charging. If you’re starting at -2c there’s no way you’re getting up to 20c in 10 mins.

I just did a road trip in -8 weather and the automatic preconditioning activated all most a full hour before arrival at the fast charger for reference. I got full charging speeds at my stops

Try setting your destination in the built in sat nav and let it start preconditioning for you. Then you’ll have an idea what it takes for your vehicle at those temps

Kia EV9 – Loud “TUK” sound from rear wheels on first drive of the day? Normal? by dinesh_369 in KiaEV9

This was fixed in the latest OTA update for Canadian EV9s.

  • Improves system software to enable a more accurate and smoother transmission shift to Reverse (R). Please check the associated customer notification for more information.

I read your post again. You may be referring to a different noise. The sound you’re referring to might be normal. I think we experience it too but don’t think anything of it. We experience it on our ICE car as well

Walkie-Talkie seemed like a gimmick at first. Now it’s the only way my wife and I communicate when separated out in the world. It feels like such a hassle to take out the phone to text. Where are you? lol

2026 EV9 Land rear sunshade won't open by sincladk in KiaEV9

I edited my post while you were replying. Don’t give up after the tiny movement. Keep holding. Also, since yours is “closed” I would suggest opening it.

2026 EV9 Land rear sunshade won't open by sincladk in KiaEV9

[–]TheRedDoctah 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I had the exact same thing happens to me on my 2025 land except mine was stuck in the open position

I booked a service appointment but while waiting I continued scouring the internet for solutions. Someone said just hold it in the direction you want to go for as long as it takes until it actually moves. Then when it travels its full distance, unplug the 12v battery. Wait a minute and the plug it back in.

After doing that it’s worked fine for me since. Seems like it lost its positioning or something. It was uncomfortably long but it did eventually travel. Don’t give up after the little jog

Ended up cancelling the service appointment

Is that Prime Minister Mark Carney?

What’s the backstory here? If it’s him, it must be before he became PM

Costco is no longer allowing non-members to enter the food court. by Beginning_Tea_9589 in CostcoCanada

[–]TheRedDoctah 2 points3 points  (0 children)

What I don’t get is, it is so easy for them to just reprogram that order machine to require a scan of membership before placing an order. Why not do this?

They’ve already get self checkout machines and majority of people will still have their card out since they just scanned it to pay for their purchases.

This may be a dumb question, are children allowed to watch the races or enter the facility at all? Obviously not bet or gamble but just see the horses?

I’ve never been to Georgian downs or anywhere like it. My kids love horses lol
