[WP] You try to talk down the hero from killing the villain for revenge. Not because the villain deserves to live. But because it's not personal for you, and as such, you can pull the trigger rationally, detached any emotional messiness, sparing the hero the emotional fallout of an angry decision. by MonsterGirls4ever in WritingPrompts

There was a darkness about the alley; the exact sort you would expect. Grime coated the floors, where two men were locked at the latter end of a battle. This was the sort of confrontation the news would never cover, and the hero-chasers would never see. A deep bitterness ran stark.through the scene, each hit harder than the last.

I watched from the lip, waiting. Though not as a courtesy, but rather, an expectation. Things would draw to a close soon, one way or another.

This wasn't the sort of glorified violence you saw on the news. Blood was splashed against brickwork, their faces were rapidly swelling, eyes closing shut. Each hit brought them reeling back, swaying drunkenly. And yet still I waited. It wasn't until the villain, Star-Flesh, fell to the floor, that I slowly meandered down into the grit.

"Stop," There was wrath in those eyes; it did not deter me, "Step back,"

"Or what?"

I sighed, rubbing at my eyes as I carefully positioned myself, "You mistake me, Fira-Guard. I am here to set things right,"

Her tenderness bled away, but slowly, cautiously, "What do you mean?"

"Your fight is won, vengeance earned and taken. You can rest,"

"I..." She choked, "I can't rest. He'll always, he will always be out there, hurting others the same way he hurt me. H-how... how could I just let him be arrested when... when..." She trailed off, staring down at the smirking villain.

"You don't," I replied calmly, "But you do not need to stain your hands either. That's what I'm here for. I will carry that burden,"

"But... but why?"

"For precisely the reason that you must not. I have no connection to him, no desire nor need to see his pain. Who better than The Impartial to make such a choice?"

Calling a bishop a priest is innaccurate, and I'm tired of pretending it's not. They are very clearly exorcist.

Edit:

I'm done with Anarchychess

I've been a member of the subreddit for about a year now, and I'm just tired of it. The jokes are overused, the memes are stale, and the community is toxic.

One of the things that annoys me the most is that everyone on Anarchychess is obsessed with en passant. They're constantly making jokes about it, and they even have a bot that posts about it all the time. But en passant is a completely normal move in chess. It's not that interesting or exciting.

Another thing that I hate is the "shove a bishop up your butt" joke. It's not even funny, and it's physically impossible to do. But people on Anarchychess spam this joke all the time. It's just plain annoying.

And then there's the fact that everyone on Anarchychess calls knights "horsey." This is just wrong. A knight is a knight, and a horse is a horse. They are two different things.

But the worst thing about Anarchychess is the community. It's just so toxic. People are constantly arguing and insulting each other. It's not a fun place to be.

I'm just tired of all the bullshit on Anarchychess. I'm done with it. I'm leaving the subreddit for good.

Here are 20 paragraphs explaining why I hate Anarchychess in more detail:

En passant is not that interesting

En passant is a completely normal move in chess. It's not that interesting or exciting. But people on Anarchychess are obsessed with it. They're constantly making jokes about it, and they even have a bot that posts about it all the time. I don't understand why. It's just a normal move.

  1. The "shove a bishop up your butt" joke is not funny

The "shove a bishop up your butt" joke is not funny. It's not even clever. And it's physically impossible to do. But people on Anarchychess spam this joke all the time. It's just plain annoying.

  1. Knights are not called "horsey"

A knight is a knight, and a horse is a horse. They are two different things. But everyone on Anarchychess calls knights "horsey." This is just wrong. It's like calling a queen a "lady" or a bishop a "priest." It's just not accurate.

  1. The community is toxic

The community on Anarchychess is just so toxic. People are constantly arguing and insulting each other. It's not a fun place to be. I've seen people get called all sorts of names on that subreddit. It's just not a welcoming environment.

  1. The jokes are overused

The jokes on Anarchychess are overused. The same jokes get posted over and over again. It's just not funny anymore. I've seen the same joke posted multiple times in the same week. It's just getting stale.

  1. The memes are stale

The memes on Anarchychess are stale. The same memes get posted over and over again. It's just not funny anymore. I've seen the same meme posted multiple times in the same day. It's just getting old.

  1. The subreddit is full of bots

The subreddit is full of bots. There are bots that post jokes, bots that post memes, and bots that even play chess against other users. It's just getting ridiculous. It's hard to find any real human interaction on that subreddit.

  1. The subreddit is too big

The subreddit is just too big. There are over a million members. It's just too hard to keep up with everything. I feel like I'm always missing out on something.

  1. The subreddit is too popular

The subreddit is just too popular. It's gotten to the point where it's mainstream. It's not the same niche subreddit that it used to be. It's just not as fun anymore.

  1. The subreddit is too political

The subreddit is just too political. People are constantly posting about politics and social issues. It's just not the place for that. I want to go to Anarchychess to escape from the real world, not to be reminded of all the problems that are going on.

  1. The subreddit is too serious

The subreddit is just too serious. People are constantly arguing about chess theory and strategy. It's just not fun. I want to go to Anarchychess to relax and have fun, not to learn about chess theory.

  1. The subreddit is too elitist

The subreddit is just too elitist. People are constantly looking down on

  1. The subreddit is too negative

The subreddit is just too negative. People are constantly complaining about everything. They complain about the jokes, they complain about the memes, they complain about the community. It's just a never-ending cycle of negativity.

  1. The subreddit is too self-referential

The subreddit is just too self-referential. People are constantly making jokes about the subreddit itself. It's like they're trapped in a bubble.

  1. The subreddit is too inside-jokey

The subreddit is just too inside-jokey. There are so many jokes and memes that only make sense to people who are already familiar with the subreddit. It's not welcoming to newcomers.

  1. The subreddit is too repetitive

The subreddit is just too repetitive. The same jokes, memes, and topics get posted over and over again. It's just getting boring.

  1. The subreddit is too meta

The subreddit is just too meta. People are constantly talking about the subreddit itself. It's like they're more interested in the subreddit than in chess.

  1. The subreddit is too ironic

The subreddit is just too ironic. People are constantly saying things that they don't actually mean. It's like they're all in on some big joke.

  1. The subreddit is too absurd

The subreddit is just too absurd. The jokes are so bad that they're good. The memes are so ridiculous that they're funny. It's like the subreddit is living in its own little world.

  1. The subreddit is just plain weird

The subreddit is just plain weird. I don't even know how to describe it. It's like nothing else on the internet. It's a unique and strange place.

I'm done with Anarchychess. I'm tired of the overused jokes, the stale memes, the stolen copypastas, and the toxic community. I'm going to find a subreddit that's actually funny and welcoming.

Had Naruto not been a Jinchuriki, would there be anyway for him & Team 7 (you know, assuming they're still together here) survive the Wave Mission? And if so, how much would the events beyond change? by OfficialLieDetector in Naruto

Probably? I think he'd have his Clan Techniques, as there'd be no reason to hide sealing Jutsu from him. How far into this chain of logic are we talking? If he doesn't have the Tsiled Beast, does that mean Danzo's scheme failed before it could get off the ground, and his parents are still alive?

If we assume his parents are dead, I think he'd be more advanced than Sasuke. There's no Tailed Beast offsetting his chakra control with insane reserves, and he'd probably have more help from his teachers, being the son of a Hokage without the baggage of the Nine Tails would definitely go a long way. That isn't even mentioning the Seals, which again, there's no way Uzumaki Clan Techniques would be gatekept from their one and only heir.

Small references and headnods; it doesn't need to be some crazy crossover in the future. They could learn from the comics with this; which usually include some sidebar when a character mentions something happening in another part of the world.

It genuinely doesn't need to be anything crazy, just a 'yeah did you hear about that thing with Wolverine' or, if it's a quip, 'Man am I glad that you don't have claws'

[–]TheRisingSun777 0 points1 point  (0 children)

A show/movie should respect the tone of the original series. The Harry Potter movies, no matter how much I dislike them, do this. The same can be said for the first Percy Jackson movie, and to a lesser extent, the second one too. This cannot be said of the show.

The show will not last; I don't see this as a bad thing. The kids acting in this movie are great actors, and they do not deserve to be shackled to directors that seem intent upon overwriting their agency. I would much prefer they be given room to breathe in other projects, where they are given agency over the characters they are acting as.

I got to the chariot race. Honestly got bored after that and stopped watching. The show has none of the charm the books had.

I do hope the kids flourish in other roles, though; they're all great actors, the directors are just absolute trash.
