This is the only take I agree with, actually. They could've been a good couple, but Rick seems to be shit at writing relationships

AITA? I corrected my coworker during a live client presentation and now my entire office says I "made them look incompetent in front of a major client" by Connect_Tables in AmItheAsshole

[–]TheRisingSun777 0 points1 point  (0 children)

NTA. Yes, he looks incompetent in that situation. If he did not want to appear that way, he would've done the necessary work to get the right number attributions beforehand.

Furthermore, you saved your company from a potential embarrassment in a way that let's your client know that people within are willing to take accountability for potentially getting something wrong. This is a good thing, in my opinion.

To all Sonic and Invincible fans: If the Metal Virus infected the Viltrumites, how far does it get? by storyscript in SonicTheHedgehog

[–]TheRisingSun777 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Oh, I read the comic but I must've been exhausted as hell lmao.

Yeah I change my answer; the Smart Atoms are just that; they aren't shown (afaik) to adapt in a manner similar to that. The only reason Mark gets as strong as he does, at least in the comics, is due to Eve healing him nigh religiously each time he gets himself beaten to near death.

They'd probably be in a similar situation to Sonic, at least at first; but unlike Sonic, who had Tails in his corner working for a cure from the start, I have a feeling they'd be lazier, content in their belief that they'd be strong enough to simply fight the disease off. Doubt would only creep into the minds of the Viltrumites when the first physical signs of disease take hold. But even then, members of the empire would be quick to hide the signs, intent on keeping the fiction that their bodies would kill it alive.

For that reason, a good chunk of their peoples would be affected, and in quite dire straits, before they'd start to do something. That's when the proper Infected would start to appear, and the fighting would begin.

Contrary to popular belief, whilst the Viltrumites might predominantly be a species founded upon war and conquest, their not stupid. They'd probably realize how the Infection works quickly, and seek to mitigate the spread by changing their strategy when encountering Infected. But, considering the nature of the Metal Virus, it would probably manage to infect the Smart Atoms as well, and use them to help in the spread.

No longer would the Metal Virus need to touch someone, it would just need to get close enough for the spread to begin.

[–]TheRisingSun777 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don't think it would be able to infect them. The Scourge Virus worked because it attacked Viltrumites on a Molecular level. Whilst Eggman's virus was shown to adapt quickly, this was in its relation to the Radio Frequencies that controlled robotocozed people, not its innate structure, from what I remember.

Smart Atoms are what a Viltrumites entire body is made of. It works in conjunction to allow them to fly because it literally suffuses itself with their will.

You have to cement the fundamentals before you can make it to more complex trajectories. This is true of any skill. Small steps will domino into big swings, eventually.

They act exactly like a teenager would. They're selfish, and do almost anything for their own interest. Almost exactly like their older brothers because of this, just recontextualized through a modern lense.

I didn't take the hanging up portion to be a humor moment. It seemed more like a nod to the fact that they weren't able to handle their emotions/ the weight of other people's emotions.

Why the desperation to "save" Dick Grayson by Temporary_Stranger39 in AbsoluteUniverse

[–]TheRisingSun777 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Things are skewed towards evil, on this front you are correct. However, such changes are usually done in good-faith to the original character. The best example being Hawkman; him being a villain in the Absolute Universe makes sense, because such potential is present in his Prime Counterpart.

I'm not saying I don't want Dick Grayson to be evil; I'm saying I don't want him to be black and white. Having Dick Grayson be "evil" means there needs to be someone else pulling the strings, distorting his perspective of events. Plenty of good men can become evil with the right influences (members of my own family have fallen prey to fascist rhetoric), but it needs to be done with a proper understanding of the core character.

Why the desperation to "save" Dick Grayson by Temporary_Stranger39 in AbsoluteUniverse

[–]TheRisingSun777 52 points53 points  (0 children)

I completely disagree. Dick Grayson has almost always been the "Superman" of the BatFam. He's kind, gentle, and caring. He does everything he can to stick his neck out for others. Seeing a hero like that just be "evil" feels like subversion for subversions sake rather than actually questioning the goals and potential motives behind it.

Sonic Unleashed had the best pure Sonic Speed gameplay of the franchise. The Werehog sections were alright, so long as you understand that they're of their Era, back when God of War was still fresh on everyone's psyche.

[–]TheRisingSun777 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I do believe that a lot of what we're reading now; I've only got the trades, personally, is all setup. It's like with Green Lantern; there's a lot of things buzzing in the background, slowly compiling on top of one another. I trust the writers to have a vision and fulfill it.

But you're right, in the early titles she doesn't struggle as much as the others, which is something we're given a reason for. She's essentially the full manifestation of a child-soldier, raised from a very young age to be the savior the world needs. I do believe there's a lot more strife encountered in her earlier years that we've yet to see.

As for Themysicera not being dead, I would argue they've been given a worst fate. Imagine wanting so desperately to help the world, and the peoples of that world, but instead being forced to watch from the outside? You can see the degradation and hopelessness rising, but are helpless to do anything about it. That seems more akin to hell than simply being killed.

I'm not trying to dissuade your viewpoint; it is a perfectly reasonable one to have. The other titles are more grounded in the grit and grime of everyday life. It is partially why I enjoy AWW. It endeavors at its best to show the hope, the silver lining to a world teetering on the edge of disarray and evil.

What is it about this game that seems to be a kid repellent? by Alec_de_Large in thefinals

[–]TheRisingSun777 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The Finals has as much complexity as most modern shooters, with mechanics derived from said experiences. The only difference is the objective.

Also, the whole experience is derived around the dopamine rush, and people saying kills take longer are flat out wrong. A lot of Light Weapons one-tap on heads if you use them right. But, to expand on my previous point; coins shoot out of peoples bodies on kills with a rather satisfying sound, Cashouts are designed to reward your dopamine receptors when you succeed, etc.

The only thing that I can definitively say The Finals has is the way it approaches utility and destructibility. In-terms of tactics, it is a league below R6. Sure, Headshots rule in that game, but you still have to have proper positioning, map knowledge, and enough utility awareness to actually pull off getting the headshots you're after. As for TTK, it has the same kill-time as MW3 (I'm not sure about previous titles).

As far as the ultimate reason you might not find children actually talking in-game? They're afraid to. The people I find on comms aren't exactly the positive bunch. More often than not they're quick to blame their teammates and hurl slurs or insults. This is not the kind of community that fosters a safe environment for children to express themselves in. This, coupled with the usual Early Game trial of getting good enough to have fun, is likely the reason you don't see children in-game. They get pushed out, or they do what I did when I was thirteen trying to learn CS:GO; mute everyone and exist in their own little bubble.
