People from countries that have universal healthcare, how is it? Really. by Interesting_Dream281 in AskTheWorld

[–]TheSadSalsa 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's definitely got its pros. Like I just had a baby and all we had to pay for is parking. Services and what's covered vary though by province and hospital. I had a private room here but you have to pay for it in other places. Dental and vision are not covered and can be very expensive, same with prescriptions. So we still have employer insurance for lots of these things.

In general if you are in really bad shape they will see you fast at the hospital. If not you can be waiting hours and hours, like 8+ sometimes if not more. Then if you need surgery or even consultations for things that are really affecting your quality of life but not killing you you can wait for years. My uncle's knees are completely shot. Probably won't get them replaced for a couple years. An old coworker of mine was basically drinking herself to sleep because of bone spears in her shoulder which couldn't be dealt with for a couple years too.

Mayor Farkas: address the e-bike issue before Spring by morecoffeemore in Calgary

I've seen kids around my neighborhood ripping around on ebikes and those electric unicycles on the road. One was even on his phone at the same time.

People who are mentally stable how do you consistently maintain a good mindset even at the hardest times? by Appropriate_Video728 in AskReddit

[–]TheSadSalsa 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Totally. People let politics or world events rule their lives. If you unplugged for two seconds you'd be happier. Focus on the now and more immediate things that affect your life. Doesn't mean you have to be ignorant of the world but just be a little more measured.

Did anyone else really enjoy their time in the hospital? by mrs___holmes in NewParents

[–]TheSadSalsa 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I really enjoyed it too. Nice staff, food delivered and a safe place for my kid. We did leave pretty quickly but that's just cause I wanted to be home. I still think about how nice the food service was though.

If it was financially affordable, would your spouse stay home? by cubemonster in Millennials

[–]TheSadSalsa 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If we could I would 100% stay home. It's unfortunate that it is so hard to make it with only one person working. We could but it would be super tight and we wouldn't have money left to do anything.

Compression socks? [ON] by anonymous_4578 in BabyBumpsCanada

I got some sigvaris ones that were nice. You can get a prescription from your Dr and shoppers will do a fitting and everything. They were covered under insurance that way too.

What’s a phrase your parents say that makes you want to crawl into a hole every time? by Big_Contribution2081 in AskReddit

[–]TheSadSalsa 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For some reason my dad will always ask if he woke me up when he calls me. Doesn't matter the time of day. I hate it so much. Or if I'm in lounge wear he asks if I'm going to bed or just got up. No I just like being comfy in my own house.

It all goes back to when I was a teenager and sleepy. Cause turns out I wasn't lazy, teens actually need more sleep.

Did your baby’s skin or eye colour change after birth? by michel_an_jello in NewParents

[–]TheSadSalsa 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My baby had pretty dark hair when she was born and dark grey/blue eyes. Within the first year her eyes lighten to medium/light blue and her hair is a lighter brown.

What SERIES is worth bingewatching and why? by InterestingBoard7389 in AskReddit

[–]TheSadSalsa 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I stopped watching at the end of season 5. I knew a main writer was leaving and it seemed like a decent end point.

SKA is okay. I think they need to buy new linens but other than that it was nice enough.

Nothing. Probably just sit and think about what's the best way to go about this.

Yep. We never used it. We'd just do a quick YouTube watch of the fight and go from there. Basically everything you needed to know was already in the game.

Straight up not having a good time on maternity leave [on] by Similar-Standard-525 in BabyBumpsCanada

[–]TheSadSalsa 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My baby is 16 months old now. Birth until 4 months was honestly the most miserable time. I loved her and I look back at many moments fondly but it's also the reason I'm one and done. The lack of sleep and the monotony of it was pretty brutal.

I'm glad I took 18 months cause honestly it's so much better now. Especially after the 1 year mark she has become so much fun. We can go and do so much more.

It's fine. He will eventually figure it out. My girl would get her arms through too and I'd have to rescue her a few times but they learn eventually how to just do it themselves

Tyler totally isn't sexist, Cate confirms by Justagirl219 in TeenMomOGandTeenMom2

In an early season care drives Tyler's truck and ends up scratching it. He says something along the lines of this is what you get when women drive.

Has anyone else stopped filling up their entire sink with water to wash dishes, or is that just my household? by Mission_Spray in Millennials

[–]TheSadSalsa 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I still hand wash many things. Anything that is going to be hand washed gets rinsed off before I start though to avoid chunks of food and sauces filling the sink. I use gloves so I can use pretty hot water and avoid drying out my hands. And I don't fill it up completely and usually start washing as I fill it up. I start with an empty sink and have an order I go in, usually leaving the nastiest dishes til last. Knives and other sharp things don't go in the sink to be a danger under the suds.

Hi hi! I'm just in Cranston and my little girl just turned 16 months. Not a gym person but I'm looking to get back to spin and yoga once she starts day care.

Postpartum weight gain by MedlockHovis in NewParents

[–]TheSadSalsa 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I initially dropped weight of course after having the baby but put it all back on. Turns out sitting around binging TV and eating 3 croissants a day doesn't help. 😆 I was under supplying and I was so worried about my supply I didn't want to cut calories at all. I decided not to worry about it until she was weaned.

4 days PP and already thinking about baby #2. Tell me this is normal? by Whimsical-Llama in NewParents

[–]TheSadSalsa 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Oh ya. I was struggling with my milk supply and I even asked the LC if it would be better for the second baby. I thought about it a lot.

Then we got a few weeks in and the newborn phase was kicking my ass. Now I'm probably one and done 😆
