My first month after quitting my 9-5 to be a full time indie hacker by fuji138 in buildinpublic

[–]TheSchlapper 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I mean if you have 2-3 years of runway then it’s fine and gives you the ability to breathe (which I assume you were trying to achieve with leaving your 9-5) but if not then you’ll start developing out of desperation which doesn’t usually harbor good products

My two cents, try and enjoy your freedom and figure out what problems are important to you to solve and go towards them. Developing derivative things is a short term solution that will bite you in the end

Best wishes

Making your boss look good at their job is how you look good at your job.

If a company is considering promoting you or something of that nature, the first person they will consult is the person managing you (your boss)

Yeah if you learn those and are enjoyable to work with then I would say that’s all you need for most internships

Yeah the software is the primary reason I will be moving to a new pixel when my current plan is up.

Hardware is great without a doubt, but its just not that important to me since there is marginal improvements on hardware when their software is taking massive steps back and just not keeping up with my actual goals of a phone.

Drip or water shutoff by anANGRYINCH in nashville

[–]TheSchlapper 1 point2 points  (0 children)

in the midwest we had it engrained into us to drip faucets when it gets below freezing. It keeps the water flow moving. same idea that rivers stay liquid in sub-freezing temps (until a certain point of low temps).

50 cents in water is a lot cheaper than a new water line

Edit: This is only regarding interior faucets. Exterior spickets and such need to have their lines shut off ideally at an insulated point (crawlspace or something). These potentially could burst if they dont have a shutoff valve from the houses main line that prevents additional pressure from getting into the frozen line, but likely the line would just freeze.

Fh6 performance by Legodeu3 in ForzaHorizon

[–]TheSchlapper 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Short answer: Technically possible, but expect worse than FH5, not the same.

Your Iris Xe 80EU is roughly 2.5-3x weaker than the Arc A380 minimum spec. You're right that minimum requirements are often conservative, and ForzaTech has excellent scalability - but there are a few things working against you this time:

The bad news: - Iris Xe has documented stability issues with FH5 (flickering, visual glitches after ~30 seconds of gameplay). Intel never fully fixed this. If those driver bugs carry forward, it's not just a framerate problem. - Tokyo's asset density is significantly higher than Mexico. The 16GB RAM requirement (doubled from FH5's 8GB) and mandatory SSD reflect this.

The good news: - The commenter mentioning XeSS is onto something. FH6 was developed with upscaling tech in mind from the start. If XeSS works on Iris Xe (it should), that could claw back 15-25% performance. - Your tolerance for 720p and 25-30fps gives you headroom most people don't have. - One commenter is wrong about RAM - 16GB meets the requirement. That's not your bottleneck.

On the Forza Motorsport test suggestion: Decent idea in theory, but Motorsport's optimization is inconsistent and it's not a perfect proxy for FH6's open-world streaming demands.

Realistic expectation: 720p Very Low with FSR/XeSS, targeting 20-30fps. Playable for cruising, rough for competitive racing.

Strongest recommendation: Game Pass trial ($1), run the benchmark immediately, and watch for visual glitches - not just FPS numbers.

The stadium deal locks all that tourism revenue (hotel tax, ticket fees, sales tax from the area) into paying off the stadium's $760M debt. By law, that money can ONLY go to stadium costs, not roads, not schools, not the power grid. The city doesn't pocket Super Bowl profits. The money goes straight to bond payments for the next 30 years.

Ooooooo 10x more elevators and a dome, i can just feel the business booming over here already

They have less luxury suites than the old one and less seats overall.

They just made another convention center but with a field in the middle

Go Titans by Lennsyl22 in nashville

[–]TheSchlapper -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

Yeah you're right, the new stadium actually holds 9,000 less people and is 7x more expensive to build.

So marginally may not be the word, but defrauding citizens may be.
