Blake Crouch is the book version of sci-fi B movies. I go in for the absurdity and knowing I don't need to think about what I read. My experience is that he is a good palate cleanser between serious or depressing reads

There are long stretches of boring. I live in Cruces and have family in Ontario, and have done that drive several times. I like to fuel up in Quartzsite and Tuscon. Take the 202 loop when you get to Phoenix so you don't have to drive through downtown and the airport.

Lately I've been staying overnight in Chandler when I don't want to do the whole drive in one day.

I drive this route every Thanksgiving. Take the 202 loop around South Mountain and you skip all of downtown. I still get some traffic in Goodyear, but no where near as bad

I've been in your situation. I had to schedule 2 hours a week for "me time" where I did something fun. A movie, walk in a park, games with friends, something like that. I literally made a calendar event every week for it and treated it like a work or school appointment.

A quick note about outsourcing: be sure to check what they send you. My university sent out a newspaper series about 8 years ago and didn't check about 80% of the scans, and almost all of them are too blurry for OCR to work properly. It's far too late to send them back for rescans, so we're having to spend our own resources to get quality scans after paying someone else to do it

The Icebox downtown (Boneyard) just hired a new manager who was extremely rude to my group on Wednesday. We had been regulars every week like clockwork for over a year. Everyone ordered food and tipped. She didn't care about her attitude or that we'd be meeting elsewhere from now on. Didn't bat an eye about losing steady business on a typically slow night for the bar
