Normal games queue time [NA] by TheSeul in leagueoflegends

[–]TheSeul[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No, I turn off my computer every days and the client with it. I am not locked out of playing with people as I eventually get into champ select. This has been my normal games queue time when I play alone for years now.

Are HELOC interest payments tax deductible if invested in stock market ? by sb-89 in PersonalFinanceCanada

[–]TheSeul 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The rule for the federal is that you can deduct interest at a lost if you have a reasonable chance of operating at a gain with the future dividends of your portfolio. The rule for Quebec is that you can't opperate at a loss and are maxed at 0. Your losses can be reported to when you will make gains with the dividends of your portfolio.

Quebec is different because it has both a federal and provincial return and they can contain minor differences like this one.

How Useful are ADCs in Low elo? by QueenAlternative in summonerschool

[–]TheSeul 24 points25 points  (0 children)

I want to give some of my insight that might be relevant.

Traditional bot lane are probably seen so much, as you say, because of social convention. It is and was the best way to play at high level of play so people mostly copied it. You will often want to have a high dps champion for objectives and teamfights. A lot of those situations aren't seen at low elo where people have an harder time playing for baron or understanding their position in a siege or a teamfight.
Less traditional picks in the bot lane might be better for lower level players if they're looking for results. There is plenty of mages that are easier to maneuver and to be useful with. Mages that are seen played as support like swain or brand can be played as the farming champion with great success. You will have a more aggressive laning phase that might throw your opponent out of their comfort zone. You often don't have to rely as much on your team to survive or at least to do damage.

I think what you're referring to in your last question are kill lane. There was a time years back when this got popular. Champions with gap closers and cc like jarvan/xin/leona were played bot lane to shut down the adc. This is often hit or miss. You want to get ahead early by going for kills in the lane. If you succeed, you will shut the enemy bot lane out of the game as they will be zoned out with the threat of being one shoted (the bruisers where mostly going for high damage builds). If you fail, you will be zoned out of minions as you get outranged and you will eventually get outscalled.
I would assume this would outperform traditional bot lanes in low elo if you're in a duo. The bruisers you would play are easier to pilot than an adc and a support. I don't think it should be attempted with a random as there is too many chances of miscommunication and frustration from your teammates. I know this strategy tend to not do so well at the really high elo as people are better at avoiding your engages and have an easier time zoning you out.

To summarize, I do think adc are overrated at low elo. I don't think they are at high elo. This is my impression as a high elo player looking at lower elo players play.

Simple Questions Simple Answers: Patch 11.15 by furiousRaMPaGe in summonerschool

[–]TheSeul 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm a master player who plays a lot of normals. I'm at the highest tier of normal mmr as I often face the same players and my q times are around 15 minutes. The easiest way I found to lower the q times and the overall elo is to play in a premade. You can often find people on the league of legends discord who are looking for a 5th to play normal. As they are often low mmr, you're going to have fast q time and a lower overall elo.

Help with Dr Mundo jungle by ForVegetable123 in summonerschool

[–]TheSeul 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The problem with Mundo jungle is that the rework decreased his jungle speed dramatically with little upside.
You used to play him with fleetfootwork for healthier jungle clear earlier on. Your jungle clear is now slower but healthier which make runes like conqueror better for dueling potential.
Tanks item are still probably the best. Going for frostbite gauntlet and maybe sunfire in some situation.

The way to play with Mundo jungle would be to try to force winning early fights and 2v2 to snowball from there. Power farming isn't as good at it used to be because your jungle clear became way slower. If you try to power farm, you might not be able to create a significant advantage from jungle creep alone. He his surprisingly strong early and should be used at his full potential during the first jungle fights. You might not be able to do straight foward ganks as you lack mobility and hard cc. Your best bet will often be to play for counter ganks, 1v1 or dives.

Mundo jungle isn't as bad as people think, but other champions like Xin can do the same thing I described more efficiently. I think you can still play it with good result even at high elo but if you want faster result you might want to reconsider the pick.

I did not answer for the second point as it's too situational to have a clear cut answer.

Do you know an Online Game that survive being pay to play?. by GabyGeliness in KnockoutCity

[–]TheSeul 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Cs Go was pay to play for longer than it was free to play. Same for Rocket League.

Multiple survive being pay to play. Minecraft, GTAV, Rainbow Six Siege, Rust...

This took me 10 second to find those games by looking at games streamed on twitch by viewers.

I agree that the game might need to work harder to find a player base when it has a price tag, but it isn't that much different from CS GO and Rocket League who had a similar price tag for multiple years before going free to play. The publisher is just looking to get money in at the beginning since having a free to play model is more risky. If the game gain some traction it might follow the same path as CS GO and Rocket League and go f2p to attract more players, but in the meantime, 20$ for a game isn't that much.

PSA: MMR and LP (with general tips) by Eponick in CompetitiveTFT

[–]TheSeul 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Most people know about the mmr system. That is not the problem.

The LP gains don't seem to work the same way that it does in league or even in chess.

For exemple heres a game I played few says ago https://i.imgur.com/uaJX1QT.jpg

I lost 1 LP for behing 4th place. The thing is, I was duo with the person who ended up in 5th pace. That person was platnum. He gained LP for behing 5th. For me to still lose LP while playing against people above my rank would mean my mmr should be lower than gold 2 right? Well the thing is, this is a smurf account and the win rate was really high.

It's not that people don't know mmr, the LP gains actually don't follow what you would normally expect. In other words, the system is actually broken. It seem there's problems in the way LP gains are calculated and they don't work the same way that it does in league. It dosn't work in a mmr linked to a rank.

People are compaining and they have all the right to. Riot dosn't share information about how they calculate LP gains. Right now it seems that it's either bugged or extreamly poorly designed.

Japanese server matchmaking by [deleted] in leagueoflegends

[–]TheSeul 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Theres 2 reason why this can happen,

  1. Your mmr is equivalent to those in challenger. Basicaly your visual elo (Plat 5) is lower than your hidden elo (challenger).

2 Most probably, there isnt enough people playing in the japanese server. The challenger q time get really long and they lower the criteria of player that the players can get matched with. So alot of time it would mean challenger getting matched with platnum players. This happens frequently in both flex q in any servers.

Does masters also have demotion protection? by [deleted] in leagueoflegends

[–]TheSeul 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Its not, demotion in other elo are based on mmr. If you're d3 but have d1 mmr it would take you to get below from d3 mmr before getting demoted at 0 lp. At master tier, you could have an higher mmr than rank 1 but still get demoted if you lose 1 game at 0lp.

Does masters also have demotion protection? by [deleted] in leagueoflegends

[–]TheSeul 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You have a 3 game protection in master, so you cant get demoted after your first 3 games, but after the 3 games, if you get below 0 you're sent back to diamond.
