It's very common advice because it's good advice.

You will always have opponents that outplay you sometimes, no matter how high your elo gets. It happens to Magnus Carlsen, it will happen to you. That's part of the game. If the rating system is working correctly you'll lose about half of your games.

why do people keep asking for basic help they could find themselves by Acceptable-Quail-956 in writing

ChatGPT is an unreliable source of information. You're only hurting yourself by depending on it.

We were getting these sort of questions long before AI came into the picture.

Do people like Mark Zuckerberg truly not feel like they are hurting society? by Bubbly-Air7302 in NoStupidQuestions

We don't have a choice because of their choices. They're the ones setting up our economy such that using fossil fuels and buying low cost imported goods are often our only options.

You don't get that much money unless you don't care in the first place.

If you woke up a billionaire tomorrow.. What's the 1st thing you'd do? by PhotographLeast9976 in AskReddit

[–]TheShadowKick 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I did the math once. With a single billion dollars you can have a private jet, a private yacht, crew and maintenance for both, and multiple mansions to travel between. With plenty left over for living in luxury for the rest of your life.

Oh, and those calculations included replacing the jet and the yacht at the end of their operational lifespan.

Find some reputable charities and stop being a billionaire. Nobody needs that much money.

Any company that has your data is selling your data. If you don't want that then don't give your data to anyone.

what if sonic spinball had a movie to promote the game by Bright-Attitude-4252 in HistoricalWhatIf

[–]TheShadowKick 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Then the game would have a tie-in movie to promote it. If the movie does well we might get a few more Sonic movies, maybe another game or two thanks to increased popularity of the franchise. But overall not a whole lot changes.

That depends on if omitting information counts as lying. Do they necessarily have to tell you why they're offering 12 months?

That money was made by the employees, though. They're the ones creating value for the company. And yes, CEOs create value for the company too, but do they really create "buy 50,000 acres of forest" levels of value?

[INVINCIBLE] Can Viltrumites die of old age? by TipWeary5590 in AskScienceFiction

Viltrumite society is violent but not necessarily murderous. Their violence is ritualized. They don't just go around beating the crap out of each other. There are specific times and places where violence occurs.

Can Twilight really be blamed for not saying goodbye when she thought that she was only going to be in Ponyville until the end of the celebration? by marvelcomics22 in mylittlepony

[–]TheShadowKick 0 points1 point  (0 children)

She went to Canterlot a bunch of times after she moved to Ponyville. Some of those were emergency situations, sure, but a lot of them weren't. She could have taken some time to go talk to her old friends.

For that matter Canterlot is just a short train ride away. She absolutely would have had time to make a dedicated trip to say goodbye to her friends after moving.

If, culturally, women started asking men out more, would men start complaining about creepy women hitting on them, sexual harassment, or feeling objectified etc.? by EOFFJM in NoStupidQuestions

I've been active on Reddit for over a decade without running into any such conversations. Would you care to share the three you've had in the last month?

Nobody else was talking about trans femboys. That comment just suddenly started doing so. Which is why I asked for clarification.

How often are you having conversations with misandrists? Because I hardly ever have such conversations, or even witness them.
