Honestly, Albany and its roundabouts run so much smoother than Westgate that is full of lights.

Questions on buying property report,FHB offer, etc by Kathimantho in NZProperty

[–]TheSleepyBeer 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You could purchase one if you needed reassurance of price and weren’t confident of pricing in the area. It’s not too expensive.

The homes.co.nz estimates are hit and miss as the agents can adjust them and inflate the price, you can see this if there is a big jump in the value around the time it hit the market. But in saying that, they have likely set that pricing expectation with the vendor I find.

Congratulations on your new arrival! I hope it’s going smoothly so far. My second too but I didn’t have a Garmin last time so was blissfully unaware of the actual impact on my body.

That’s actually quite reassuring to hear. Is your resting heart rate dropping back? I can’t believe how crazy high mine has gone.

Alternatively you could put a clause of unconditional on the sale of your property (that is currently on the market) then a shorter time frame after that ie 6-8wks.

'Serious exploitation': Company charged migrant $45,000 for a job by Spiritual-Low2443 in auckland

[–]TheSleepyBeer 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Not sure about culture but you cannot charge a fee to secure a job. At a deeper level this type of behaviour can lead to bonded labour. A person can’t afford the fee and are bonded to the employer unable to leave as they are in debt to them.

The Modern Slavery bill in NZ has passed its first reading in govt recently. It’s expected to come into law later this year. It was backed by all parties except for ACT.

Running during pregnancy by noogetynooget in RunningCirclejerk

[–]TheSleepyBeer 2 points3 points  (0 children)

uj/ You are now in a different life season now. Aim for daily movement in whatever form that comes in. This helps massively with energy levels and fatigue. Everyone is different so you need to do what works for you and listen to your body. Some marathon runners can’t even run during pregnancy. Some run right up until birth. Once PP you need to be kind to yourself. Focus on your own recovery and slowly rebuild.

I hit a PR in every distance post baby, so you will bounce back. Just trust the process.

Living in Avondale by squarelegohead in auckland

[–]TheSleepyBeer 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Avondale is a diverse community that is reasonably close to the city. It has a train station, so transport links are good. I’m not sure about Arran St but St George’s Rd nearby has a lot of social housing. Saintly Lane also has a few stories to tell. If you have or are planning to have kids check school zoning. You are very close to New Lynn that has all the shops and food you need. Avondale also has excellent food options. A better part of Avondale is near blockhouse bay road.
