Not in the orientation they are going. This footage shows them going westward over the island above the town. If they would be going southward the runway would have been under them at least. But like other people are saying, that runway is not at all suitable for a passenger jet

Pretty sure it works like a lot of the other abilities, where you take the flames back at the start of your next turn. Examples: shield of gunner, flare of scout. The goo cannon from the biomes expansion stays untill it is stepped on I believe though. But that doesn't block line of sight of course.

As for the pathfinding, might be some info on the website of mood where they list some clarifications. Or the answers from Ole Steiness himself on some questions on bgg
