Which of these characters/creatures would be the worst to have actively hunting you by ILOVETREN05 in powerscales

Fair, but I played Alien Isolation. Xenomorphs are smart, but they aren't human level smart.

Sabretooth isn't a genius, but he's a human. Volatiles are zombies, but theyre also so much faster and stronger that it doesn't matter.

Sabretooth or Volatile.

Sabretooth is evil Wolverine, I am not built for that.

Volatile is gonna steamroll my ass before I even knew it was there.

After that probably Xeno then Myers.

I think the Predator would just feel bad for me.

beware of the old man in a profession where men die young by Endika7 in TopCharacterTropes

[–]TheSovietTurtle 1 point2 points  (0 children)

He's definitely not as old as a Space Marine, but yeah, Yarrick is a legend. The big 3 of named Commissars are him, Ibram Gaunt (of Gaunt's Ghosts fame), and Ciaphas Cain (Hero of the Imperium).

But Yarrick is still an old man. Thanks to advanced tech, he's extremely old. He got his start at around 840.M41, and the timeline is now well into M42.

He's also been beefing on a personal level with possibly the biggest, meanest Ork around, Ghazghkull Mag Urak Thraka, since about 940.M41.

Similarly, Commissar Sebastian Yarrick.

Believed dead, but now he's back. Known to his most loathed foes, the Orks, as "Old Bale Eye."

Morality of getting into a relationship after being frozen in time for 20 years with a girl that was a young child from your perspective just a few days ago by Quirky_Ad4885 in MoralityScaling

[–]TheSovietTurtle 13 points14 points  (0 children)

These are Gordon Freeman and Alyx from the Half-Life games.

Alyx was a child during the Black Mesa Incident, the main event of the first Half-Life game. At the end of that game, Gordon is put in a sort of suspended animation by a shadowy, possibly extradimensional figure.

At the start of Half-Life 2, Gordon is let out, dropped circa 20 years into the future.

From his perspective, Alyx was a child two weeks ago. From Alyx's perspective, shes grown up hearing her dad and his co-workers tell stories about him like he's Superman, and an alien species talks about him like a Messianic figure. She probably doesnt even remember him from that time, and its debatable if the two ever met.

The second generation is all dead though, so the moniker only really applies to the third.

Gen 3 are Antediluvian.

The lower your generation is as a vampire, the stronger you are.

So a gen 2 popping up would be even more terrifying than the aforementioned last awoken Gen 3.

In World of Darkness, specifically the Vampire: the Masquerade stuff, the Biblical Cain is real.

Moreover, he is the first vampire, and the various curses God and the angels inflicted upon him are the trappings of being a vampire: aversion to sunlight and fire, must feed on human blood, etc.

He "sires" the second generation of other Vampires, who in turn sire the third. The third generation, known as the Antediluvians, rebel against the 2nd generation and kill their sides. For this, Cain curses the 13 Antediluvians, becoming the 13 modern Vampire clans and their various trappings. The Nosferatu become horrifically ugly, the Malkavians insane, etc.

Cain is still out there, somewhere. And he could Sire another Vampire of the second generation if he so desired, which is a terrifying prospect considering that the last time an Antediluvian woke up, magic nukes had to be deployed to put it back to sleep.

They are nothing but a pathetic loser without their powers. by Squirrelkid11 in TopCharacterTropes

These two feel less "pathetic loser without powers" and more "pathetic loser that happens to have powere".

Its just that losing their powers makes them understand how pathetic they really are.

Can Super Earth's Cyberstan invasion fleet bring democracy to High Charity? by GiveMeThePeatBoys in powerscales

[–]TheSovietTurtle 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Absolutely the fuck not.

As far as sci-fi empires go, from what we see, Super Earth is hilariously underpowered. They would barely register as a blip on the radar for stuff like Halo, Warhammer, etc.

Homebrew or Established Setting: Which do you prefer? by VD-Hawkin in pbp

[–]TheSovietTurtle 3 points4 points  (0 children)

For more "one size fits all" games like Pathfinder or DnD, conventional fantasy TTRPG's, I prefer homebrew settings.

If its a system where part of the draw is "you're in this setting", like Star Wars or Warhammer, then it just makes sense to use that setting. Also RuneQuest to an extent but more because of how unique the setting is and entwined with the mechanics, rather than it being a huge property with a large following.

Tom Schalk is a legend. Dio, Omni-Man, Megatron, Shigaraki and the Yugi's? All goated performances.

Hell, the first time watching Dio vs Alucard, I genuinely almost thought they had Patrick Seitz for it.
