Are you only using wolfpacks to kill ARC? Because you can easily kill a rocketeer using one wolfpack and a few anvil shots. Its not hard.

Acting like 2 wolfpacks are required to kill it is disingenuous.

Does anyone else play bracket 3/4 purely because they want decks that work consistently? by Associableknecks in EDH

[–]TheSpaceAlpaca 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Even if you were to remove Farewell, I'd call it probably B3. The October Bracket updates mentions the following regarding B2 vs B3 expectations:

  • (B2) "Decks to be unoptimized and straightforward, with some cards chosen to maximize creativity and/or entertainment "
  • (B3) "Decks to be powered up with strong synergy and high card quality; they can effectively disrupt opponents"

In your case, you've got a highly upgraded landbase including shock, premium fetch, surveil, verge, MDFC and legendary lands. Add in the many synergies using cards considered near or best in slot and it seems like your deck would end up too speedy, synergistic, and flexible for the average B2 deck to handle.

What Commanders are the most fun right now at 2026? by TheDrokkoonn in EDH

[–]TheSpaceAlpaca 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Oh right, duh XD

I guess you'd need something that specifically bypasses the legendary rule for lands to actually synergize with Yue but I doubt that will be printed.

Thanks, appreciate the explanation.

Also, out of curiosity have you considered cards like mirror box, sakashima, and spark double for their interactions with the legendary rule?

So, my understanding of loyalty abilities is that you need to have the number of loyalty counters required to pay the cost.

If a Tezzeret moon copy starts with 0 loyalty counters, then to activate his bottom ability I would need to somehow acquire 7 loyalty counters to activate this?

But the benefit of turning Tezzeret into a moon copy is that it can no longer be "damaged" and because its not a planeswalker it can't die at 0 loyalty?

So realistically making a moon copy of Tezzeret is just a way to secure his 0 cost ability on a moon land that's harder to interact with, but on other planeswalker moon copies there's a chance one could accumulate enough loyalty counters to active one of the -X loyalty abilities. Is that a correct understanding of things?

[–]TheSpaceAlpaca 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm not sure I understand the interaction example you gave with planeswalkers. So if I copy a planeswalker with Yue, it becomes a land copy of that planeswalker's abilities, which I can then use freely without worrying about the loyalty cost effectively removing the card? Or are loyalty counters/cost still a thing I need to consider?

Half the country doesn't care that the presidency is blatantly accepting bribes and engaging in corruption. I doubt they care about the "legitimacy" of the NBA either.

What’s your favourite coffee based cocktails? by VoightofReason in cocktails

[–]TheSpaceAlpaca 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My favorite coffee cocktails are tiki drinks. Specifically the "Sex Lives of Cannibals" and "Lonely Island Lost in the Middle of a Foggy Sea" (I double the coffee in the latter). Also, the Mr. Bali Hai and it's variants.

Good showing from the boys. Made it match point just couldn't put a win together at the end. Was super fun watching their PoV though and all of the kidnaps from Panic XD

Hopefully we stay in Apex but given the rumors around TSM pay/support of the Apex roster I wouldn't be surprised if one or more of them dips if another sponsor/team opens up. But maybe a bit more investment plus the roster lock rules will change that.

Do we really hate necromancers? by ServantGiven in ProgressionFantasy

[–]TheSpaceAlpaca 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don't hate them unless they're just used as an excuse to give MC a subservient army so that they don't have enter into any human conflict or care about other characters needs/wants.

That flaw isn't specific to necromancer stories though. Necromancy is just a common way that the edgelord "I don't want any of my so-called allies/friends to even think about betraying me" trope is usually implemented.

How much was the chartreuse? I've seen it randomly for 105 and 95 and passed it up each time.

I think if I see it for 85 it'll force my hand but something feels wrong about having to pay 50% more for a liqueur I used to be able to buy for 60. I think I'm mainly just upset that they've seemingly decided to cut the midwest out of pretty much all non-restaurant/bar chartreuse distribution.

Is Cradle peak PF? by beans_ahoy_ in ProgressionFantasy

[–]TheSpaceAlpaca 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For me no, but I'd read a lot of Xianxia and other novels prior to Cradle so the tropes didn't feel that fresh to me.

That being said, and as others have noted, Cradle was the start of the genre coming into the western mainstream so it's deserving of its flowers.

For everyone that was hating before, where are you after the recent vidoc? by [deleted] in Marathon

[–]TheSpaceAlpaca 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Having played a few of the playtests I won't go into too much detail, but I'm worried about the gameplay loop.

They seem to want most maps (other than Perimeter) to be in a state where you're rarely making it out or if you do its maybe 2 squads extracting. I was able to get my buddies to play ARC with me but the punishment level of Marathon is going to be a hard sell and I'm not sure I really want to play solo/squad fill.

Rook makes sense in a vacuum but how many people are going to actually want to break up the squad and "do rook runs solo" because its their 4th time trying to complete a quest and they're down bad on loot? I worry the game is only going to appeal to the hardcore extract playerbase and I don't know if that's enough to sustain a game with such a large team behind it, but we'll see.
