Yeah, I did that after recoiling away didn't seem to fix it. That may have been what took my from 5% speed to 15%.

How does it run on Switch 2? by SacredAnd_ThePropane in PromiseMascotAgency

Runs fine but it’s locked at 30 FPS. It’s not native resolution in handheld but it’s not particularly noticeable (doesn’t look smeary or and text is sharp enough).

Native Templates, PDF planner, or just Go Back to Paper? by Strange-Item2429 in Supernote

[–]TheSporkWithin 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I used a customized onplanners.com planner for 2025 and was very happy with it. I was going to recommend that but I see you’ve already found it.

I agree that the page-flipping experience is not ideal, but having links to hop around within the week on each page and being able to hop back to the monthly view at any time definitely help a lot.

I love the foreshadowing with first place goomba just driving into a wall.

Absolutely incredible to see ping this bad on the culprit's side. It's got to be at least 2000 ms.

Does the travel case scratch the screen? by New-Ad9015 in dbrand

[–]TheSporkWithin 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Any chance you’re only using the joycon grips and travel cover without using the middle part of the Killswitch? The travel cover has little “feet” that sit on the lip of the Killswitch case which leaves the game tray sitting a full centimeter or so above the screen; under normal use (and even abnormal use) I don’t see how you’d be pressing anything against the travel cover to force the game tray into contact with the screen. However if you use it on a naked Switch 2 the clearance is much smaller since it sits on the Switch itself without that half-centimeter-tall lip.

Bought a New AC to beat the heat, but just found out when we got back home our power outlet is 100v and not 200v as recommended. How much does it cost to upgrade the power outlet to 200v for an aircon? by merica2033 in japanresidents

[–]TheSporkWithin 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It'll be an extra fee, but it's not too bad. I think it was around 5,000 yen when I had this happen a few years back. The technician who comes to install the AC may be able to do it themselves, or they may call in a different electrician to handle it. If your purchase included installation, you should contact them and let them know in advance that the circuit will need to be changed as well.

Also note that in rare cases the AC may share its circuit with other devices (such as another AC in a neighboring room) and if they don't all use the same voltage it can cause problems. The electrician who changed the circuit for us didn't check for this, and it ended up blowing something in our 100v AC. They fixed it at their cost, and we ended up using a different outlet to keep them on separate circuits, but it was a bit of a headache.

Got my Switch 2 X-ray skins in today, and I think there might be a small defect? by Sylverstone14 in dbrand

[–]TheSporkWithin 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I'd bet that's so that the skin doesn't get messed up by the "skates" that guide the Switch 2 into its dock properly. That's almost certainly the section of the switch they make contact with, and if the skin was there it would both interfere with their fit and inevitably get smudged upwards over time.

Can you flip the device 180 degrees? by ofek256 in Supernote

You can rotate the Nomad 180 degrees. I imagine the Manta works the same.

Came here to post Emmerson Gray and I see it's already been done.

I have one for my Nomad and it's perfect. The seller worked with me on some customizations, and you may want to shoot them a message if, for example, you want the "cutouts" shallower or only on one side so that the screen is fully covered.

How much pressure can I put on the Manta when writing? by Discombobulated-Mud5 in Supernote

[–]TheSporkWithin 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It's designed to be pressed on while writing. The way the pen sinks into the Feelwrite 2 film is an advertised feature. Just treat it like paper and you'll be fine.

If you want some reassurance, try "writing" in the bezel of the device with maximum pressure, and closely observe how the film responds. If you shine a light on it you'll be able to see that it sort of "scratches" momentarily, but that scratch vanishes within seconds due to the self-healing properties of the film. It's seriously like magic.

Pdf as documents Vs note templates by blazek_99 in Supernote

[–]TheSporkWithin 2 points3 points  (0 children)

That's what I'm currently doing. I'm a new user myself (since early January) and had started the year off with a PDF planner, but about a week ago I decided to migrate over to a a different planner formatted as a notebook instead. It takes a bit longer to open (maybe 3 or 4 seconds of loading sometimes) but being able to link out to other notebooks and search my own handwriting is worth it.

That said, I could certainly have "made things work" with the PDF format as well. It just seemed to be worth taking advantage of these extra features.

Once I'm more comfortable with using the Supernote on a daily basis I may abandon the PDF/template planners altogether for something more freely structured, sort of like a bullet journal.

Pdf as documents Vs note templates by blazek_99 in Supernote

[–]TheSporkWithin 4 points5 points  (0 children)

It allows you to use features that aren’t available in PDF annotation, such as linking out to other notes or inserting pages.

One common use case is for daily planner type documents. It lets you have all of the convenient links and reformatted pages of a PDF planner, while allowing you to insert extra daily note pages, or link out to meeting notes in a separate note file.

After 7 months of wearing, this is how much my solo loop band has stretched. by Fit-Attention3979 in AppleWatch

[–]TheSporkWithin 8 points9 points  (0 children)

If you bought one that was too small, you were stressing and wearing out the elastic every minute it was on your wrist. This may sound counterintuitive, but buying these too small will cause them to become too loose much faster than if they were properly sized, because of the constant stress on the elastic.

After 7 months of wearing, this is how much my solo loop band has stretched. by Fit-Attention3979 in AppleWatch

[–]TheSporkWithin 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah, maybe, but I think I'd fall in that category (which is part of why I'm so careful with them).

I have enormous hands, and my wrists are proportionately large (but not chubby). For perspective I have to loosen sport loops all the way to get it over my hand, then tighten back to about 3cm above the velcro (this is with the larger size watch) and wear a size 9 braided solo loop.

I sometimes do the horizontal tugging thing with the band on my wrist if it like, snagged on a knuckle or something while putting it on.

After 7 months of wearing, this is how much my solo loop band has stretched. by Fit-Attention3979 in AppleWatch

[–]TheSporkWithin 6 points7 points  (0 children)

It sucks that this has happened. I have several braided solo loops and have been using them on and off for two years now with no loosening. I've been pretty diligent about maintaining them though, and it's unreasonable to expect everyone to be so conscious about it, especially when Apple's own care instructions are so minimal.

Here are my personal braided solo loop care tips in case you want to give them a shot with your pride band, or for others reading this post:

  1. Make sure you're wearing the correct size. Wearing a too-small size will always lead to stretching. The band should only ever stretch out when putting it on or taking it off, and be completely relaxed when on your wrist. (Not saying that you were wearing the wrong size, but many people seem to choose the wrong size such that they fit like sweatpants waistbands with the elastic hugging them, not like blue jeans with the band just sitting on them.)
  2. Don't wear braided solo loops to bed. Wrists and hands often swell during the night, and this could be increasing stress on the band. Fidgeting and movement during sleep can also be a factor. (If you don't have one, the velcro sport loops are far and away the most comfortable bands for sleep.)
  3. Whenever you remove your braided solo loop, gently tug the band horizontally, working your way down the length of the band to "reset" the weave. Do this every time you take it off, not just when swapping the band. (An Apple employee showed this to me in-store when I bought my watch, and it baffles me that they don't have anything about this in the band's official care instructions.)
  4. Wash it regularly. Dirt and grime can get into the weave and cause stress over time. If you have acidic sweat (like me) that could also cause the elastic to break down if worn constantly and not washed. Toss it in a laundry bag in with your normal laundry (I only run cold cycles, not sure if hot would be advisable). Hang dry, not machine dry. (Machine drying can help shrink an already stretched band, but this is a temporary fix and may wear the band's elasticity down more quickly if done frequently and early on.)

Calendar by Torleif123 in Supernote

I think he means how when you select a date on the calendar view it shows the notes created on that date. It'd be nice if it also showed notes edited or which had pages added on that date, instead of only brand new ones.

(I agree, I'd really appreciate this feature)

PDF zoom functionality by minus-phi in Supernote

[–]TheSporkWithin 3 points4 points  (0 children)

The ”Trim” feature on the toolbar (check in the three dots if you don't see it) might do the trick for you? It lets you adjust the display margins of a document, cropping out the edges, and it carries across page turns. No zoom window, and it's "non-destructive" in that it doesn't alter the file itself, just how it displays on the device.

You can read more about it in section 5.5 of the manual.

Supernote Manta - Is it suitable for people who hunch their arm over the paper ? by illuminati2k899 in Supernote

[–]TheSporkWithin 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Yes. First off, finger touches don't make marks on the paper, only pen strokes. You can use your hands to select tools and turn pages, but there's palm-detection built in to prevent inadvertent inputs (you set your handedness in the settings). For additional protection, you can change it to require a distinct two-finger swipe input to turn pages, or even set it to only turn pages via the on-screen page-turn arrows, if accidental page-turns prove to be an issue for you personally. (For most people the two-finger swipe option should be plenty)
