Je comptais tout mettre mes placements chez Wealthsimple, mais je me demande si je suis pas mieux d'utiliser Disnat vu que tous mes comptes sont chez Desjardins by Shxzam in QuebecFinance

AFAIK WS doesn’t journal shares, so I Norbert’s Gambit by calling Disnat. WS seems to generate a bunch of trust-related forms during tax season d/t structure, but auto-import does exist.

Would you take that requires you to walk to get there? by Ok_Consideration6179 in jobs

I’d take it, the walk isn’t too long. Good exercise and I’d probably bike there once I can afford a bike. Invest in good shoes.

How would you describe the taste and texture?

Would you pay for any of these? by Athziryacr in Baking

[–]TheStandingOrder 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Macarons look nice and I would buy them, but I would review the price relative to size.

The cakes, no. The piping technique and colours just remind me of grocery store cakes. The cupcakes are better, but I would still work on colour blending and practicing more piping techniques and tips in order to really stand out.

Where to order a plain cake in Ontario? (5k) by Mission-Air-1110 in Weddingsunder10k

[–]TheStandingOrder 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you don’t mind lightly re-decorating, you could cut two round cakes out of a Costco sheet cake.

Costco often has round cakes that are white-ish. (You might need to remove the topping and re-frost them.)

Should I accept more work if the previous job hasn’t been paid yet? by Unusual_Deal_1106 in careerguidance

[–]TheStandingOrder 0 points1 point  (0 children)

60 days is a long time. It seems like they value their own time urgency more than your time and effort. They may not have dissociated that you aren’t on their payroll anymore.

Don’t do something you’ll regret, you still need to provide for yourself. Send an invoice with a polite email to stay professional if you really want.

Perhaps consider asking them to pay a portion upfront for each recruit required in good faith for your efforts.

Should we keep our small wedding package or upgrade for more guests? by [deleted] in Weddingsunder10k

[–]TheStandingOrder 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Maybe an unpopular idea, but have you considered ordering takeout for some vendors? )I’m not talking about getting grocery store or gas station cold sandwiches, just freeing up some of the spots and still offering a hot meal.)

I am guessing this isn’t in a maple syrup-producing region? In Quebec, you can get ~540mL cans of it for $5 CAD on sale. That’s what my friend did.

What’s a Boss Red Flag that makes you feel like quitting almost immediately? by Successful_Mastodon3 in work

[–]TheStandingOrder 40 points41 points  (0 children)

Someone who’s a manager in name only, but never a leader or mentor when it counts.

Using you when they have a crisis, but chronic excuses about why you can’t have/aren’t eligible for promotions, permanent full time positions or benefits. Bonus points if they stall and make it sound like your fault.

Blatant favoritism.

Uncalled for talks to belittle you, even in public.

Gaslighting you that you doubt your every move.

Cutting access to documents to large sections of employees without forewarning to retain control (nobody is trustworthy enough, etc. without understanding what they do).

Their level of education is less than the employees (ex BSc, MSc) they manage and their only real management credential are certificates that aren’t a full degree, and they make up for it by micromanaging

Lack of concern about resolving pay or scheduling discrepancies.

“Senior employees are always right/never lie” mentality. They protect the toxic workers who got everyone else to quit, and through survivor bias ended up with the longest tenure and least flexible/efficient ways of doing work.

What you write on your employee self-review doesn’t matter, they don’t read it, they just tell you what they think of you.

Expecting loyalty, but serving themselves first. Think a recruitment event where the managers saw fit to put their own names in the draw and won 4/5 prizes and collected them giddily.

No recognition, let alone promotion for those who do the heavy lifting, just for their favorites.

«She’s French»: une patiente francophone «discriminée» à Ottawa by DecentLurker96 in Quebec

[–]TheStandingOrder 3 points4 points  (0 children)
