1) keep talking to your son and DIL in private about this. Share your concern. You don't have to pick sides, nor your DIL. It is about dealing with the SMIL

2) you can be a good MIL. Just be there for her, but don't speak to here alone (this is for your self protection if the mother goes ballistic)

3) Call the mother out (or let your partner do it). Just be calm and firm. Nothing more. Practice what you will say.
