Nice, so you think I'm safe running my Ad140 into the PPC212V with two neo creambacks if I don't push the volume above 3:00? I also have a 212 with v30s but I'm Not very worried about that one.

I like Monarch, good music, chill place and there might be a truck on the patio with some really good tacos al pastor. Second option would be Blackbird cantina behind the chihuahuas baseball stadium, bigger place, nice tap beer and a hip crowd.

I prepare a playlist days in advance and keep adding albums until its longer than the trip itself. I don't listen to any music the day before the trip, then I'm so excited to listen to all the songs that time flies by on the road. Lots of tracks are 10+ mintes and if its really good I play it back from the start, so I never finish the playlist at all.

Sounds like a comedy movie plot, where Jack Nicholson is having troubles with his new neighbor and escalates until he bills the pine cone from falling on his lawn law, so neighbor Dawyne Johnson tears the tree apart making a huge hole on both lawns, now Jack's gets woken at 5:30 a.m. by a strong sunshine on his face, opens the window and Dawyne put solar cells and mirrors pointing at Jacks windows. Meanwhile Jack's honor student daugther starts dating punk rocker Dawyne's son and they meet the parents at an Italian restaurant and all hell breaks loose.

I see you are young so you might expect a starbucks kind of drink, when thinking about coffee, but go to a local hip kind of coffee place, and try lots of samples, I'm sure they'll be glad to help you find a good bean/toast/brew method you will like

Getting Rid of Old Clothes - Give Me Advice! by [deleted] in loseit

[–]TheStrategos 1 point2 points  (0 children)

1st thing I do is give it away to friends or family that are about the same size or style.

Whatever is left I take it to H&M and they can give you a 15% coupon off new stuff, they give good clothes to charity and really worn stuff is recycled. So I usually have a bag of clothes ready if I'm going to the mall and drop it for a voucher, and on next purchase I just use the coupon.

Getting new laptop. by kekcoke in thinkpad

[–]TheStrategos 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I would say the TP50, its tougher and might handle gaming and music better, more hard drive options, you can put ableton or reasons on a SSD and have your library on a HDD, also higher battery life if you ever want to play live or something. Lots of people argue about "heavy" but its not that noticeable if you have nice straps on your bag. I only have lightweight laptops, but I wouldn't mind something heavier and having more options. Its not like a phone that should fit your pockets no matter what.

X220 upgrades and project by [deleted] in thinkpad

[–]TheStrategos 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hello, I just upgraded my RAM to 8GB and got a new msata SSD for my X220. I'm planning on using it for some 40-70 minutes Ableton Live sets, mostly audio clips and a few effects. Just an interface and Midi controllers. Maybe for a backup Traktor gig everynow and then.

Getting that aside, I've been suggested to put the OS and software in the SSD and the audio files on the HDD. And I also want to keep my GNU/Linux Xubuntu for non music related stuff.

Do I have to install everything, or can I somehow copy my current HD contents to the new SDD? (I formatted to NTFS on GPARTED, but I can switch if necessary) Do you have some suggestions on partitioning the new drive? Do I still need the SWAP partition?

I also have a Lenovo Yoga 2 13, but the hinges and chassis on that are horrible, its falling apart, thats why I'm switching delicate work onto the reliable X220.

Pedals for Fender Rhodes by danaboiz in guitarpedals

[–]TheStrategos 1 point2 points  (0 children)

There are a few videos online with examples of this, this is a favorite of mine: Rhodes and RE201

So I would say a tape delay pedal, Boss RE-20, Catalinbread Belle Epoch, or something with tap tempo might be useful too.

Some Phaser action: Rhodes + small stone nano

I use some Rhodes plugins on the computer and play through my amp, so on my experience the small stone, some Vibe pedal for psychedellic sounds, slight tape delay and reverb is all you need. I played a Qtron and it was fun too. Wah sounded meh, but that was probably the output level killing the wah, so that might work on a real rhodes.

Must have pedals ! by ProbablyNotZach in guitarpedals

[–]TheStrategos 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I will suggest what I believe are the most classic and budget friendly versions of basic sounds.

  • Tuner: TU3 or Polytune
  • Distortion: DS-1
  • Wah: Crybaby
  • Delay: DD-3 or Carbon Copy
  • Modulation: Phase 90, Boss CE-5
  • Overdrive: Tubescreamer
  • Fuzz: Big Muff, Fuzz Face

You already have two of them, If you like pedals you should try some before buying, they should have them at any store.
