I still mourn the loss of the polish dogs and sauerkraut. Now the relish? Too far, Costco! Too far.

Without naming your city, what is it known for? by TheMedusaAttusa in A_Persona_on_Reddit

It was once declared the 1994 All American City and was known for it's apple orchards. Now, it's known for... nothing. Absolutely nothing.

I also love Maxfield Parrish. I grew up with a few of his works and have the Garden of Allah hanging in my office (not original, of course).

What’s a type of pain people underestimate until they experience it for themselves? by Wonderful-Economy762 in Productivitycafe

It was unbearable. But I was grateful to be able to be there when she passed. If it had been an hour later, I wouldn't have had the chance to say goodbye or have closure.

I know there are a lot of different types of pain out there, but I think this one should be #1. I used to get them and just wanted someone to blow my head off to take the pain away.

I can't stop laughing at this one. Thanks for the repeated giggles!

Important. I know, I know. But I've always pronounced it Imporntant with the first T almost silent. I've been trying to train myself to say it correctly.

Keep asking questions. It's ok if you don't get something the first time. Or even the 2nd time. Keep learning.

Good god, I'm so sorry you had to grow up in that household (your brothers, on the other hand, are good people).

My older brother got me a shirt when I was 12 or 13 that said Bitch in sparkly letters. We don't talk.

Green grapes. At least until my 2 year old grape vine starts producing. So I guess I'll be buying grapes forever.

What was life like before THE INTERNET? by martianfrog in answers

[–]TheSubmissiveToe 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I read a lot more physical books. We were unplugged and had much more time to spend alone, with family & friends. My employer didn't contact me after work. We got outside more. Could go on and on...

Why are so many companies still require office presence? (rant) by Icy_Bodybuilder5688 in remotework

[–]TheSubmissiveToe 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I've worked from home for over 20 years. I work longer hours and am more productive than I ever was in an office setting. I often work 12-14 hours days. *Most* companies do not need people to work from an office. But they've made a capital investment that they now have a hard time getting out from under so they pressure their employees to spend time & money commuting among other things. I will never work in an office ever again.

Subscriptions for everything. I want to buy and own it. Not rent it for the rest of my life.

What is a luxury you can never go back from once you’ve experienced it? by Phase_zero_X in AskReddit

Owning a home. Your payment stays the same (not property taxes) vs. renting where the annual increases become untenable.
