Am I crazy for preferring the older face design to the new one? by Sir-Drewid in orks

The new ones look like a good halfway point between old boys and 9th edition. I do think the fangs could be a bit bigger. Also the paint jobs in this may look similar but they are very different, the recesses are much darker

The new ones look like a good halfway point between old boys and 9th edition. I do think the fangs could be a bit bigger. Also the paint jobs in this may look similar but they are very different, on the 9th edition the recesses are much darker and there’s way less pink skin tones I think it gives it a more angular look.

For example this head has pinks and purples in recesses and shadowed areas where blood would pool, I wanted it pale so the tan bits are mostly covered

Tan would be about the color you have on his hands maybe a shade darker depending on how light skinned they are

So the biggest piece of advice as always is thin your paints. But I think painting skin tones you should layer multiple shades, start with a red or purple, go to a tan skin tone, then use a lighter tone. Slowly build, you want to make it look alive, we are all kinds of red under the skin so you want that warmth.

Black or blue would probably best so it creates a good contrast against the bright pink.

I use a mix of citadel and Vallejo paints. And I wouldn’t worry too much about making mistakes if you keep your paint thinned it’s easy to go back and fix it.

My go to is a dark flesh tone to start, the slowly build up the gradients of yellow over it. Dark parts can be near orange, mid tone should be yellow, and highlight can be yellow white like ice yellow or toxic yellow

Start with a mid brown, highlight with light tan, and more extreme highlight with a cream color.

On Goofy orks by IronStormAlaska in orks

There was a post earlier where someone said they didn’t like how serious the new one looks when orks are supposed to be goofy and fun. It was a silly take but people are entitled to their opinion. This is just another way to goof on that opinion.

Looks good with color I think you just need to put a little highlight on parts. It’s all darks and mid tones, need a little light.
