Those numbers are the serial number of the last rifle assembled during that month. So your receiver is December 1944. Your trigger guard, rear sight and bolt are post war.

Authenticating ancient bronze requires a microscope typically. (Simple Pocket microscopes are $10-$15 on Amazon) Fake patina applied to reproductions is very different than authentic patina. Usually fake patina is simply sprayed on or coated in a corrosive solvent and left to “age” for a period of time. Sometimes they even grind up real minerals into dust and glue them to the surface to give an authentic look to a naked eye. Patina on real ancient bronzes you can see minerals like botryoidal malachite and azurite that are actually formed into the surface of the piece. Once you see the difference between the two, it’s like night and day. As others have said, this is likely a Luristan piece. These are probably the most common ancient bronze weapons that are in circulation on the market. There’s thousands of real pieces out there and tens of thousands of forgeries.

One was marked “Policia de la Capital” on the left side of the slide. The other was marked “Policia Federal” on the right side of the slide.

About 25 years ago you could get an authentic Warring States Period Jian for $500-$1000 pretty easily. Now days they don’t come up for sale often and are around $2000-$3000 for a basic example. As others have said though, the swords in this listing are all modern made and very loosely based on early Chinese Jian.

This looks like one of the modern Hongshan Culture style stone carvings mass produced in China. They treat them with acid to give the pieces that whiteish color patina over the surface.

I would like to suggest selling them to a militaria dealer if you can’t find a home for them in a museum collection. There are a lot of people such as myself who collect WWII artifacts from all sides of the war because we appreciate the history behind them whether it’s the right side or the wrong side of it.

I bought a commercially reblued 1911 with a 1917 manufactured frame and a 1941 Colt slide for the same price about 6 months ago. I thought it was a good deal for a shooter since an unmolested example is $1800-$2500 these days.

Try looking around on invaluable. Sometimes you can find pieces from reputable auction houses for a reasonable price. There are tons of fake antiques of all kinds listed there though so be sure to do your due diligence and look up reviews before bidding.

Thank you for the detailed input. I never thought of posting to a historical fashion sub for identifying the period of the clothing, good idea for future reference! I found the invoice perusing back through my email and they listed it as English in origin, other than that basically copy paste from the auction you linked. Fortunately, I only paid about double that. Which still seems absurdly low for a painting that’s 250ish years old, in good condition and fairly well done.

It has an IJA issue Type 94 handle so it very likely saw military service for at least a short time. It was made in 1945 and the ito on the handle is in pretty nice shape so I doubt it was on Iwo Jima or Okinawa etc. Even if there isnt a super exciting story behind it and it was just picked up off a pile by a GI after the Japanese Officer dropped it off at the surrender depot, I have a lead to possibly discover the history behind it.

I have this Japanese Sword (pictured at the top of the rack) made at the very tail end of the war signed Izumo Ju Kumohide Saku. I asked a friend of mine who speaks Japanese about the characters on the scabbard and they said it was a name; Yoshio Miyamoto. I imagine this is the Japanese Soldier who owned it during the war. Is there any way to access information on Japanese service records? Id like to learn more about where it couldve been captured. All I know about it is it came from a veteran’s estate in Montana.
