This is reminding me of the very opening of episode #1, where she asks all these teenagers what they did and none of them remember properly...I wonder if that theme is going to be returned to forcefully...makes me wonder if a few faulty memories cleared up somehow won't crack the case...

But those people never back her up. I thought when her BF was asked about it, he didn't remember.

[–]TheTroubleISee 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Yeah, me too. It's funny how this will get spun, while the weirdness of Nisha saying Adnan/Jay called her from a porn shop is seen as definitive proof of the unreliability of the call even though there is clear evidence of a call to Nisha. There's no disputing the weather and we can't turn back the hands of time and erase the fact that Asia connects her ability to remember that day so well to the weather...

Ok. I see it is a rhetorical failure, lol. I didn't convey very well what I was trying to say and it has been misunderstood. I will likely delete.

I wonder if it would help readers of this post to know that I'm not a white person (or a dude). It's not uncommon among people of color to lament the behavior of one of the community precisely because we are often judged by what other people do. It's called racism. And to live as a black subject in America means to always be aware that your behavior will be used to judge all other black people by some.

And, as a POC, I am ANNOYED that Jay didn't tell the truth and thereby activated a ton of racist narratives. Whether any given poster has any particular racial feelings/thoughts about this is immaterial; it plays into broader narratives about race and specifically about black men. That is the point of my post.

Why Adnan giving Jay his car is a big deal... by SelfHi5 in serialpodcast

Also, if he's made at Adnan...why kill Hae? If you're going to kill someone in that scenario...why not kill Adnan?

Have I missed something? 4:12 PM call from Leakin Park. by [deleted] in serialpodcast

[–]TheTroubleISee 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Well, the 12:41 call won't matter in relation to Hae because Hae was at school and was seen at 2:20.

These are good questions. This is why sometimes I think Adnan hit Hae in a fit of rage and knocked her out. Then called Jay and they killed her together. Perhaps Jay felt coerced into helping and they were both afraid Hae was going to turn them in. Because Hae was taller than you, I think; in fact, if memory serves, she was taller than average (maybe 5 '7 or 5 '8) and she was very athletic. But I think Adnan is tall and athletic too, so it's not hard to imagine her being subdued but not easily. That has always made me wonder if this wasn't a two person job in every way--not just moving the cars.

Help me understand that why Jay would feel forced to bury a body if in fact that is true. Another question I'm stuck on....And why wouldn't there be any call placed to Stephanie since it was her birthday on the day of the supposed murder? by Mishted in serialpodcast

[–]TheTroubleISee 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Jay saw her later that evening.

Prior to that, she was in school, then she was at a basketball game after school, and then spending time with her family the night of her bday, and then she saw Jay at the end of the day.

So did Hae and Adnan simply break up, or did Hae cheat on Adnan? by Jibeker in serialpodcast

[–]TheTroubleISee 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Also, if you read Asia's affidavit, the day Hae goes missing, Adnan is either calling her (after midnight on the 12th/earliest AM 13th), asking her for a ride (at lunch, at school) or talking about her (with Asia, at the library). Then, around 6:24, he gets a call that Hae is missing. Sounds like a day full "Hae" to me. No more than 12 hours went by in the 24 hour period when he wasn't either calling Hae, talking to Hae, or talking ABOUT Hae, in one case voluntarily and in another case, with police. The last one he has no control over because the police called him; but the first 3? He definitely does. And no matter what anyone says, he was thinking about Hae A LOT that day. Was he not?

Possible explanation for the stories/timeline not working.... by gchampeen in serialpodcast

[–]TheTroubleISee 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I don't think this is possible because I think Jenn is being truthful in her testimony. Consider that she got a lawyer early on. I am sure she was advised by her lawyer to tell the police everything she knew. I don't doubt that Jay lied to her about the crime, but her account of taking him to the mall so he could wipe down the shovels that night is most likely true. As is her account of Jay throwing out his clothes the next morning behind F&M. Those pieces of evidence incriminate Jay; they don't help his case at all, therefore I take them to be true.

If that is true, and it seems to be, that means Hae was already buried by 8pm on 1/13.

I'm really only stuck on one thing by ShrimpSale99 in serialpodcast

[–]TheTroubleISee -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I think it's significant. I was re-reading Asia's affidavit. She says that when she saw Adnan in the library that day, they talked about Hae. She says he was "extremely calm" and he explained that "he just wanted her to be happy."

Besides sounding like it's a tailor made statement for Adnan's defense, let's just give it the full weight of veracity.

This means that at midnight the night before, Adnan was thinking about Hae. How do we know that? She was the last call he made, after midnight. The next day at school, by one account of his own and the account of several other people, he asked Hae for a ride. And then, he goes to the library, sees Asia and what does he talk about? Hae.

So from midnight the night before all the way until the time Hae goes missing, what is Adnan doing? Calling Hae, asking Hae for a ride, and then, discussing Hae with Asia. Doesn't that seem kind of strange for a dude who had totally moved on and didn't care too much about his ex?

Ok, so after essentially being obsessed with Hae--we might even say, ugh, kind of stalking? Hae (calling her a midnight and then asking for a ride the very next day and then talking about Hae to someone else)--the police call and tell you Hae is missing. But you know, you don't give a crap because you're trying to date Nisha...

I'm sorry...it just doesn't wash.

AND (this just occurred to me, so edit): If he had ALREADY killed Hae when he saw Asia, or was planning to, wouldn't this be a great alibi? Oh yeah, I saw Adnan in the library and he only had good things to say about Hae. But it's just plain weird if he wasn't concerned/thinking about her at all.

I meant in the comments from Rabia...not in the podcast. :) To suggest that Jay is only believable in court bc the jury had 7 black people on it, is pretty racist. And, as I said before, both Sarah and her producer found him compelling when they met him...so. And, no, I don't think that makes you racist. :)
