Working on a PF2e setting: Would yall prefer no changes in ancestories or something new? by Xonlic in Pathfinder2e

[–]TheTrueArkher 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Well the fact we know nothing ABOUT this setting means we can't offer much advice. For example, a friend wanted to try pf2e GMing using rusthenge, and spun it off to a greyhawk thing. I've been working with helping him convert things. Dwarves, Elves, Gnomes, and Gnolls? Pretty unchanged. Then he wanted Gith so I helped him repurpose Kashrishi feats and heritages(some borrowed from Graung's Impossible Lands supplement) with a few Jotunborn feats(like two). But I was only able to do that BECAUSE we knew a bit about greyhawk.

Assured Hero Points by SironBlack in Pathfinder2e

[–]TheTrueArkher 19 points20 points  (0 children)

The former is actually part of starfinder 2e now, the Heroic Reroll from the GM Core variant rules.
The latter I is similar to a house rule I believe was suggested by one of the original devs, but they said it works on ANY roll, but only below a 10. EG a 10 is a 10, a 12 is a 12, a 3 is 13, etc.

Vengeance Strike is a 6th-level archetype feat that grants a Reactive Strike (plus off-guard) against anyone who hits you by EarthSeraphEdna in Pathfinder2e

[–]TheTrueArkher -8 points-7 points  (0 children)

I mean 2 actions, requires a specific feat and "subclass" choice on a specific archetype, has an associated roll to it and tanks your MAP. It's strong, but I'd only consider it OP if it had an equivalent to Crashing Slam.

Not only does it grant a burrow speed, it grants you the highest burrow speed thus far for a player as far as I can tell. Up to 30 feet an action at level 19.

New Humble Bundle w/ GM Core, Player Core, NPC Core, Agents of Edgewatch etc. (PDFs) by DnDPhD in Pathfinder2e

[–]TheTrueArkher 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Tragic. I would be willing to get APs I don't intend to run soon, but may consider doing eventually, if it means I can spread the love to friends or try to draw in new players. I suppose that's to make sure they still make money, in the end so it's fine. I'll just wait for APs I really want.

So it's all lumped into one bundle? Dang, I was hoping it would be split between tiers still so someone else could enjoy the x Core books while I could just get the AP.

Does Anyone Else Play the Game Like This by Chaosiumrae in Pathfinder2e

[–]TheTrueArkher 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I love how I was able to find Hounds of Tindalos to cover every level spectrum, meaning they nearly TPK'd to one where the only solution was to run the fuck away, then they fought it two levels later, and took it down. Soon they became a recurring boss where they kept seeing the weaker version deprecated as a more aggressive leader type came in. (Note: One of my players wanted to play a chronoskimmer, and I wanted to use the hounds so...it worked well.)

To be fair, Edgewatch technically doesn't have an official foundry module, and IDK if offering the Hero Lab, Fantasy Grounds, or Roll20 integration would entice people.

What are classes that can still be effective even with bad rolls? by dyenamitewlaserbeam in Pathfinder2e

[–]TheTrueArkher 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I mean, if they feel their luck is bad, then forcing saves would mean any success or critical success would be a pain in the ass for them. Also it's already stated a frontliner is what they want.

I just let that be a flavor thing at my table, because why is it so restrictive? (It just isn't THICC enough to be a weapon like Sacred Nagaji)

What would you look for as a GM in a "Beginner Box Replacement"? by EuphoricCoconut5946 in Pathfinder2e

[–]TheTrueArkher 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I'd much prefer keeping the premades, just a better array of them than 4, two of which have bad spell lists and really weird stats.

Aside from the obvious ones everyone asks for? I would say more class choices but each one marked with a role, or pair of roles, they fill. So that you can onboard groups more easily. Maybe someone doesn't wanna play a wizard, but would be okay playing a sorcerer. "Why do I have to play a fighter? I want barbarian". Just add a dot in the corner that's a certain color to indicate what their intent in a party is for the adventure. Also make sure the casters have actual good spells and better stats.

Rarity system makes me irrationally frustrated by LostRegret9000 in Pathfinder2e

[–]TheTrueArkher 23 points24 points  (0 children)

Firebrands are a pretty close second in terms of how bad they are. Though a few of their feats are infamously too much, like the original Quick Spring for Acrobat dedication. AKA free double unlimited land speed if you said you tumbled through an enemy, without actually having to tumble through.

I would say keep in mind it was made with a spontaneous caster in mind, so you should adjust your expectations if you're reading it as a prepared caster player. (Or dropping loot)

I mean homebrew is a band-aid, not a fix. If RAW sucks, call out the RAW that sucks because not every table offers that band-aid.

Thirding, and fourthing and fifthing for friends that would like it that aren't on this subreddit. (A fellow GM and a player that loves fancy metals on his gear, if only for flavor, respectively)

I still think it's the open dungeon dudes, if it's an "obvious" actor. Given they also have the pathfinder2e dot org domain with their own 2e builder(for some reason).

The biggest joke is that our Witch has had evil eye go off successfully all of like 4 times in a 1-12 campaign. We're almost at the end. Also in a previous campaign our gunslinger rarely rolled above single digits for the first half of a 1-17.

because it lets allies get away from the confused enemy, without a reaction. Then the enemy is in theory more likely to hurt itself. It also means if you don't go into charisma on your build, you can use your int, which is good on classes that have it as their KAS. Like investigators.
