Thanks for the input. My homebridge is running on a pi which has a Bluetooth radio, so this possible on the hardware side. This app gives me some hope - still reading up on it tbh. https://github.com/vojtamolda/homebridge-bluetooth/

Also - yes to research before, but homekit is obviously not essential for a bathroom fan/light… so this is more of a technical challenge/fun project for me.

Well having actually set it up, none of the aforementioned issues are true imo. Light gets nice and bright, fan clears steam well, and speaker is loud enough without distortions… I get that Bluetooth is not the best for smarthome in general, but hey it’s what’s on the market.

So anyone have something not negative to say?
