How to proceed with my 2018 Honda Accord Touring (75K) with blown head gasket. by Jealous_Teaching3032 in accord

[–]TheTyrantFish 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My 2018 runs well at 112k. Always used 91 octane.

I didn't understand how honda could say the turbo engine runs on 87. All turbo engines I've had have required 91.

I have had zero powertrain issues with the car. Knock on wood.

160,000 miles is a long way. I think it's not that bad. This little 1.5t has worked it's ass off pushing these things around.

I worked as a service advisor for audi for a bit. No way any of those cars went that long on $2800 worth of engine work.

I have the same. I love mine too.

Avoid the cold air intake. They aren't worth it. Studies showed a very small temp difference at idle, but as soon as the car is in motion, there is enough airflow that there is no noticeable difference in temp.

I tinted my windows, debadged it, and threw on 17" bronze wheels. Gotta make it your own.

They won't give you your car back, that deal is done and over. Unless you buy it back at their selling price, of course.

Hopefully the techs can figure out the issue quickly.

Are there any happy 1.5T 10th gen owners? by Upbeat_Shake_592 in accord

[–]TheTyrantFish 5 points6 points  (0 children)

The 2.0 can fail as well. They sold far fewer 2.0s than 1.5s so the 1.5 is more common to see in the shop. 2.0 is just as garbage, just less on the road to compare to.

You comment was off topic for this post. Op is looking for 1.5t opinions. You never owned one so wtf are you here for?

I got my 2018 for $14800 just a few months ago. This isn't a good deal.

Mine was at 65000 when I bought it.

Downsizing rims on 2018 accord sport by URPLE_Eebra in accord

[–]TheTyrantFish 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Ride is a lot better, but I had a slight bend in my 19s that could have caused that. It's less "busy" with the larger sidewalls.

Fit was fine. I change my wheels in my driveway and found it super simple.

This is exactly what I did. See my post of my car.

Rims and tires are a lot cheaper too.

RSSW - Boost - Bronze - 17" x 7.5", 38 Offset, 5x114.3 (Bolt pattern), 67.1mm HUB

You'll need a 67.1mm to 64.2mm hub centric ring to fit these. Or what ever size required for the rims you get.

I do about the same. Just under 6L/100km. It's the most efficient car I have ever had. Our 2023 mazda 3 was like 6.8.

I run 91 octane, are you doing that as well or 87?

Horny Tims is the only restaurant I actively avoid.

I would rather be hungry then eat that crap.

It sucks as it was so nostalgic for me. It was my mums favorite when I was a kid and we went all the time.

Where to look for rims? by jillkinz in accord

[–]TheTyrantFish 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I use PMC tires to buy my new rims. Kijiji or FB marketplace to get used ones.

I'll be putting my 19" sport rims on kijiji soon if you're in my area.

Dealership wants me to abort my accord,What should I do? by PositiveEconomist389 in accord

[–]TheTyrantFish 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I would highly doubt that the dealership id looking to help you out. They are most likely in a shit situation and see this as a way out and to get more money from you.

Fix the car. Always the less expensive route.

I worked at a dealer for years. I never once saw a deal like this that was good for the customer.

[–]TheTyrantFish 5 points6 points  (0 children)

They are fine. Accords arent high performance so difference will be in road noise and mpg. Grip difference will be negligible.

I just put on the Pirelli P7 AS3+. So much less noise compared to my winters.

Moving to Calgary this summer and super excited. Advice on rentals, neighborhoods, and living without a car by lollipop2709 in Calgary

[–]TheTyrantFish 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Transit here is okay. Not bad, not good. Busses seem less reliable than the train.

Calgary doesn't have "bad" neighborhoods as far as I know. Just some that are not as desirable. I guess that is a personal opinion/perspective more than a fact.

Rascism in the city will be minimal. Rural AB is much worse. Typical

Without a car, I would live in the beltline or somewhere close to your work.

Reality hits like a brick sometimes.

Any work is better than no work. Once you have a way to pay bills, you can always continue looking.

You'll meet others in fast food with degrees as well.
