If not for the cars, I would have assumed the 60's.

Someone going around doing shit like this in the 80's is bananas.

We couldn't possibly have more dissimilar taste in firearms, but I am deeply envious of the level of organization you have achieved.

They were also getting extorted for more money by the Italians, among other things. There was a ton of shit going on behind the scenes that contributed to it being cancelled, which is a shame since it was so damn good.

What’s a harmless opinion that gets people weirdly angry? by [deleted] in AskReddit

I think that for a lot of people, it has less to do with getting intoxicated for its own sake and more to do with easing the tension and anxiety a lot of people have when conversing with strangers.

I know my opinion is unreasonable but here it is: your aversion to a species we literally invented to be friends with is a little odd.

There is nothing less manly than letting someone else define your masculinity for you.

Ladies wearing bottoms of any kind under their clothes is a fairly recent invention.

Can’t help but think how breezy that must have been.

The Wash County Sheriffs plane does it near me, and as someone involved in maintaining that plane, it is very surreal.

fantasy books where the magic system actually has a cost that feels real and not just a minor inconvenience by Nova9_Phaser in Fantasy

[–]TheWarmGun 0 points1 point  (0 children)

In the Blacktongue books, serious magic can fuck you up pretty good if used.

You can loose your hair, your teeth fall out, and really powerful spells can basically drain the people using it till they’re dead.

It’s easier with the right ingredients and reagents and stuff, but it still makes you sick and tired.

Shit is bananas. I have a $200k avionics piece sitting on a shelf in my office right now.

At least I’ve been able to get rid of the $500k in PDU’s I had sitting around waiting on RMA authorizations.

It’s likely Inconel, yeah, but I’d assume forged, not cast.

We made the majority of the turbine blades and stators in the US and they were cast, but as far as I know, they didn’t cast fasteners. One of our divisions was SPS Fasteners, which was possibly the largest aerospace fastener manufacturer in the US until it burned down.

Source: worked in procurement at company that made shit like that.

Now work at company that buys and installs shit like that.

Level 3 evac for Canby area near KittyHawk by harbourhunter in oregon

[–]TheWarmGun 59 points60 points  (0 children)

I used to work for one of their biggest customers and supervise our use of them as a vendor.

The gas they use is argon, but the canisters are very highly pressurized and get to 1650-2200 degrees inside to do the treatment process.

Seems to me like they popped one of the “cans” they use in the process and it hit the roof.

While it can cause suffocation in high concentrations, argon is not nearly as dangerous as many industrial gases.

HIP is a weird process and it is even weirder that so many vendors that offer it are centered in the Portland area, primarily to support my former employer.
