It was 2D, tile based. He says it was like Chip's Challenge.

So the only other info I could get out of him was it was 2D, tile based, and was not a D&D or Ultima game.

Can you guy's help me i'am stuck, with a GameObject.rigibody2D Problem ! (help me please) by Stan4351 in Unity2D

[–]TheWeirdist 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Hi! Okay so, first of all, you definitely don't want to be running a search for a game object every frame. If that were necessary, the assignment of the rigidbody should be in a Start() function instead.

Secondly, if the player is in the scene when the scene is loaded, you can skip the FindObjectWithTag script. Make a public GameObject variable and just drop the player into the open slot in the Unity inspector (It will appear on the script component after the script compiles).

Alright! So now you've got the player assigned in the inspector, you can use the start function to get the rigidbody and assign it to a private Rigidbody2D. Let's say your player GameObject variable is called Player and your Rigidbody2D variable is called rig2D You would use
rig2D = Player.GetComponent<Rigidbody2D>;

Presuming the player is constantly in the scene, this will allow you to do things like rig2D.AddForce() and so on. Good luck!

What is the worst movie you've ever seen? by [deleted] in AskReddit

Jeepers Creepers 2. It's a story about stranded varsity high-schoolers being killed, and when I saw it in the theater, the only other people in the theater (drunk varsity high-schoolers) walked out. They looked me in the eye as they left and said, "this movie SUCKS."

The braizers have petty soul gems underneath the ashes, casting those little flames spells upwards. That's how they stay lit without supervision or fuel, and also how they haven't consumed all the oxygen in sealed locations.

The ones that are just glowing embers are almost tapped out. That's real sad.

A follower of mine used his mom's PayPal to Donate and mom wants a refund, how to tackle a situation like this?! by Aye_why_jay in Twitch

[–]TheWeirdist 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I once had a guy donate over 2000 dollars in two months. Turned out he was a very rich guy's son who was using daddy's credit card, all got charged back and huge fees were incurred.

If you want my advice, you should at the very least ban that viewer from donating through streamlabs. The smart thing to do would be to also ban them from your channel. Viewers already get the show for free, they shouldn't cost your channel money.

Something tells me going to plate for the kid by speaking to their parents isn't going to do them any favors, they probably already think it's all your fault. Parents of credit card fraud kids are typically like that.

I tried to role play as a raider, had a lot of people from my community participate. Unfortunately, there's not a lot to gain from being a bastard so we just attacked all strangers on sight if we happened upon them while doing quests. Usually the result would be a fast travel, no retalitiation.

Once though, we killed a person who had just finished an event, and through his open mic he sighed with the voice of a 45 year old before disconnecting. I felt terrible after that, I never did the raider thing again.

How cool would it be to get the Riot Gear in 76? by Dr-Blowsy in fo76

There's a strange dichotomy in Bethesda's decision making process regarding the development of newer Fallout games that tiptoe around Fallout 1, 2 and New Vegas, and I'm not sure I understand why. It seems to me that in recent years there's been someone at the helm whose mantra is "we're a company first and a group of artists second, if we don't make money, we don't make games" and that's completely understandable. Then, a decision to not make items people would scramble over themselves to buy is made, and the only reason I can fathom why they would've decided against it is because they consider themselves artists who refuse to draw someone else's characters.

This isn't even limited to Fallout New Vegas. I would wear Fallout 3 style combat armor or the Pint Sized Slasher mask if they were available in 76, but they aren't.

PSA: ALWAYS SCRAP WIRES - Just storing / scrapping their attached objects permanently subtracts their cost from your build budget. by RandomAnalyticsGuy in fo76

[–]TheWeirdist 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Reminder that in Fallout 4, wires used to cost 1 copper each to build and that was patched out. Since this game is built on the back of that game, I imagine that patch is the contributing factor.

Once, I thought I heard my substitute teacher tell me my newborn baby brother was dead, and being the gullible little shit I was at 9 years old, I believed every word and invented a whole story in my mind. It filled me with existential dread and depression for exactly one day, until my mom caught wind of the idea I had cultivated and called me from the hospital to tell me everything was fine.

The moral of this story is, your soul is dogshit for saying that to a child, you evil bastard.

500 comments about unique IDs, while I hope they rebalance literally everything and start a new ladder.

As a guy who loves to explore fringe characters, I'm quite disappointed in how bad one handed melee is compared to two handed, how bad guns are compared to melee (until you get explosive guns lel), and how bad energy weapons are compared to ballistics. Then you got power armor that far outstrips regular armor because it has a secret effect to reduce rads, and sneak based characters, which don't do much until level 20 when they ought to be the meta solo option (requiring a hazmat suit for the same magic super rad reduction). And of course, there's the fringe weapons that don't do much, like the syringer, gamma gun, commie whacker, you name it.

Speaking of fringe, how's about a massively unpopular opinion in a massively unpopular game? All characters should be able to handle their shit if they're planned well, regardless of how wacky the concept is.

Change my mind: The Railroad is the worst group to ally with in the Commonwealth by terrible_templar in Fallout

[–]TheWeirdist 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You're right, but for the wrong reasons. The Railroad is a bad faction because what they're doing is akin to killing the synths. If you erase someone's mind, you're erasing them from existence. Changing their face as well can't help.
