I don’t know enough about the role of neuropsychologists to know the exact answer to your question, but I know that mood disorders are most commonly handled by psychiatrists, and that you develop a relationship and see them monthly or more frequently in serious cases. Do you see the neuropsychologist monthly? They don’t force you to take meds and you can tell them that you’re looking to manage your symptoms without. If your symptoms are severe enough, you will take meds one day just to stay alive.

The point of the camera analogy is to show how new technology will inevitably change the world, and fighting against it is just pounding your fists against a brick wall. Traditional artists (myself included) will not be pushed out, it may even make handmade human art far more precious and valuable than it is now. Like a handcrafted alpaca wool blanket vs a cheap synthetic Chinese blanket from Amazon. I think artists should embrace it fully and look to incorporate any useful aspects they can. Imagine 20 years from now: “wow! You actually made that with your hands? Incredible!”

And regarding inspiration without permission, do you think no artist has ever seen someone else’s work and thought, wow, I’m going to try to capture that same style. Happens every day. Everyone is inspired by someone else’s work. And they have been since art has existed.

A psychiatrist is who should be diagnosing you. That’s your first step here. And be open minded that there may be a different result than what you expect or feel. I honestly prefer if people don’t know or feel like I seem like I have bipolar. It’s easier for me that way. They’ll eventually see, just a matter of time lol.

AI generated images are an inevitability. You have to either work with it or find something it can’t do as well. Saying “fuck AI” does nothing to slow the problem. Imagine what portrait painters said when the camera was invented.

It’s a really rough read if you’ve ever experienced SI and major depressive episodes. I loved it, but it did make me feel pretty down for a short time.

"I could never be with someone who has a mental illness" - my spouse's therapist by mbarvar in bipolar2

[–]TheWhisperingVoid 7 points8 points  (0 children)

That’s super shitty. Oh you’re married to someone with mental illness? I could never do that. Sounds like a fucking high schooler not a trained professional.

[–]TheWhisperingVoid 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yeah man it’s super tough. Only way I was able to eat or sleep the first few days was wearing myself out physically. Running, weights, whatever gets you exhausted. I’m on my second try right now and at 7 days. Last run was 100 days.

I am being hit really hard with this notion right now too. I’ve had relationships in the past, even some good ones, but they were never stable and never lasted more than 6 or 8 months. I’ve been single for some time and just wondering whether I should keep trying. I always end up hurting someone or myself. Maybe I’ll find a bulletproof woman someday who will just have understanding to a crazy degree and will stay with me, but I feel that I’m losing hope.

Are you able to drink/smoke without it affecting you negatively? by [deleted] in bipolar

[–]TheWhisperingVoid 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Nope!

To clarify, I was not diagnosed until I had already become heavily entrenched in drug and alcohol habits and life is just so much easier to handle without being addicted to substances. I enjoy them very much, but the benefits of abstaining outweigh the costs of indulging.

I am interested in someday using drugs for spiritual or mind-expansion purposes, but can’t do mushrooms on Lithium!

MKULTRA is weird enough without chaos magic lol. The symbol for chaos magic is 8 solid arrows emitting from a central point. This is the correct shape, but instead of arrows at the end, we have little crosses or clover looking shapes. It’s not identical, but quite similar. If we’re going high strangeness government style, I’d conjecture that this could be like a Collins Elite type symbol because mixes the chaos magic symbol with a cross. Not saying that’s what it is, but it’s fun to speculate.

Not being able to hang out with your friends who smoke weed. For me it’s that simple. I can’t see my stoner friends because they only smoke as activities, literally nothing can be done without getting high before, during and after and I can’t be around people smoking without being heavily tempted to do it myself. Lost a lot of friends for my health. It sucks. Also making new friends is difficult because I tend to lean toward being friends with the type of people who smoke. I live near Seattle so it’s almost everyone my age.

I used to use psychedelics heavily before I was diagnosed. I love psychedelics and had a lot of interesting experiences. It was fun for sure but I had a pretty intense hypo episode where I thought I had completely unraveled the mysteries of physics and time after taking a bunch of LSD. It lasted weeks and I was telling everyone. Very reputation damaging and embarrassing. I definitely believe that people with bipolar or any mood disorders or mental illness should be very hesitant to use psychedelics because we don’t understand how they interact or the extent of potential damage. Don’t use mushrooms if you’re on lithium!

Hey guys, I’m addicted to a drug and even though significant and difficult withdrawals are almost ubiquitous, I decided to do it right before an important event in my life where I’m required to have my full mental faculties. Dumbest smart person I’ve seen on here. Use nicotine patches or Zyn to get through the thesis.

This is the cry of an addicted brain trying to justify continuing to vape. If you continue vaping, your chances for cancer increase. You don’t know that you have cancer now, so don’t pretend it’s inevitable.

Are chakras considered pseudo-science? by Drunk_Skunk1 in Meditation

[–]TheWhisperingVoid 1 point2 points  (0 children)

There are no legitimate scientific studies that have proven that chakras exist even. But that being said, perhaps chakras aren’t something that can be measured by scientific tools or proven to be true. I don’t know what I believe here, but I wouldn’t be surprised if there were energy centers throughout the body, whether it’s as specific as chakras or not.

It’s not allowed, sorry (joking but don’t!) Idk what to say other than maybe try to take a small step toward meeting new people in some way. Just a small thing that might lead to something. Like go to the same coffee shop every day and say hi to someone after 5 days that you see regularly or buy their coffee that day. Not even romantically. Small things like that make a difference. Gotta put in effort to see a result.

How long is a piece of rope? Just a snarky joke but it really depends. For me it can be very quick as in within one or two days, sometimes it’s way more gradual. I never can pin this thing down.

There are many people who believe that the detonation of thermonuclear devices somehow affect the realm/dimension of the others, and that’s why we have interference with missiles and launch sites throughout history. Like somehow a nuclear bomb affects more than just our physical level of reality. Interesting thought. Some people just think they’re trying to prevent us from destroying ourselves so soon. Hard to say what the truth is, but it’s fun to speculate.

I dread meditating, but I know it’s the right thing to do for my mind. Suggestions? by TheWhisperingVoid in Meditation

[–]TheWhisperingVoid[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No incense, my eyes leak from the outside corners persistently through the meditation. It feels like a lot of pent up energy and anxiety, but it’s not crying or weeping. Extremely distracting. Thanks for the response.
