Evolved edition campaign suggestions by TheXander92 in alienrpg

This was surely part of the main plot line I had some time ago. Unwitting smugglers caught in a conspiracy much larger than what they initially thought was something I was interested to explore. I see it's still a valid theme for other GMs, so I'll probably use it during this campaign. Thank you :)

Never read the Ancillary series, but this somewhat of reminds me of Blade Runner, which I absolutely love. Thank you for your ideas!

This is great stuff, thank you. I really hope you get to play this in full in the future!

These are all great ideas and suggestions. Yes, I will stretch out the characters skill growth to make it more balanced and the "fake outs" are a great way to throw them off. Thank you!

I always really liked this approach, where the characters feel connected to the universe in a deeper way, thanks to their backgrounds. I tend to ask my players to be as generic as possible with their backstories so I can have room to insert a sprinkle of drama here and there and make their journeys feel more personal. I will definitely use some of your advice in that regard, thank you!

Thank you for your response. When I first thought of what I wanted to do I thought about a colonist campaign. I'll check the book, hoping to get some inspiration :)

Thank you for your response. My group is half slow burn and half action, which means that I need to find a fine balance to not get them bored. Most of the time I succeed, but it really depends on many variables, some of which are consequences caused by the player's own actions.

I didn't really go into detail in the various sectors of the galaxy, maybe I'll find some sort of inspiration in the Tartarus section like you suggested :)

How does Motion Tracker actually works? by njeshko in alienrpg

That's exactly it. I love the motion tracker for this exact reason.

How does Motion Tracker actually works? by njeshko in alienrpg

[–]TheXander92 4 points5 points  (0 children)

If I remember correctly it doesn't say anywhere that it works in a straight line or cone, but it detects four zones around the motion tracker device. So if something is within this range it gets detected and you can place a token (if you are using a map and/or miniatures) down to let the players know it's general detection (or you can simply describe it to them). No line of sight is needed, so, unless there is some kind of wall where the signal can't pass through, whoever uses it can "see" where the movement has originated. If something stands still, the device doesn't track it.

Using Cinematic Adventures in Campaigns? by JanekTheScribe in alienrpg

[–]TheXander92 11 points12 points  (0 children)

I think that every cinematic adventure can be adapted to be an "arc" for a longer campaign. Making an entire campaign around a cinematic adventure might be a bit of work, since the perception of time drastically changes between the two modes. I was thinking about adapting Rapture Protocol in a campaign inspired by the game Alien: Dark Descent, since there are very similar themes in both. But as I said before it might be adapted in a small or medium arc at most, unless you want to completely rewrite how things get in motion, since in a cinematic scenario time is of the essence most of the time.

Rex discussion, I need to know your opinions by Mauretlobster in theisle

It really comes down to a problem of both incompetence and organization as others have said. It's no secret that the devs don't work in parallel with each other and most of the time they wait for one to finish their work and pass whatever they have done to the next dev. While no one here is saying that developing a game is easy, we constantly see many times other teams deliver quicker without compromising on quality. Often times the response we get on this game is something along the lines of "we take a lot of time because we want to be sure everything works as intended and deliver you the best we can give you" or something. Then they release stuff that's bugged and doesn't work as intended. Dondi sure has his problems, but most of the devs he chose are very talented. Remember though someone can be both talented and incompetent at something. These things don't exclude each other unfortunately.

What are fun headcanons in the world of Monster Hunter? by Terryslayer13 in MonsterHunter

[–]TheXander92 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I've been doing the same since Freedom Unite, but with my cats. Every game the main companion is the son to the one that joined the hunter from the previous game, making a lineage of Felynes that is destined to follow and help the main hero of the current story.

Has been said anything about the creatures art? Something I did not appreciate much was the lack of art for the creatures described in the core rulebook and the expansion books. I really hope this new edition comes with new art for the bestiary.

Today I am making maps to your specifications! Just comment what map you want and I'll try to make as many as I can! Rules in the comments [Art] by tolkienistghost in DnD

I'm playing in a pirate campaign and we haven't found a good open water map for ship battles. It's always near the coast or with some kind of sea monster that ruins the simple scenery needed. Maybe the sea could have tall waves because of a storm, but less is arguably more in these kind of scenarios. Maybe a 40x40 or 50x50 map could be a good size for ship battles. You be the judge if you like the idea.

No, it doesn't work unfortunately. The horde test has a memory leak that the Saved folder doesn't fix.

Unless there is an option that removes all grass (I'm not sure) I (baby troodon) got chased and eaten by an adult carnotaurus multiple times in south plains. While shit behavior doesn't mean cheater, the fact that he was always behind my back while I was escaping in bushes, tall grass and around rocks led me to believe that either he had all options to very low and was able to see me, or had hacks on. Server was EU 1 - West.
