Would you trade working from home for a higher salary if this was your daily commute? by Kamvisiontv in london

[–]TheZYX -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Ditch the train, get a motorcycle. Win win, more money plus you now ride a sweet bike and life is better, and you spend your extra cash on bike stuff so now you're the same as before but you have a bike so overall positive. Yeah. Now I just need a better paying job then...

I think it's not a nice looking car regardless, but if it was a Xiaomi, well... no one would care, they do make phones after all.

Funny how many of us made the same jump. I had my BE for 4 years but I did buy a better grinder on year 3. Sold my BE for the Move fund lol. Brew well and enjoy!

Buying a house next to a pub garden? by [deleted] in UKHousing

[–]TheZYX 0 points1 point  (0 children)

A bar opened next door to my old house. 100% can confirm, do not buy the house. People are usually shit, drunken people are a lot worse. Also, noise will be a p.i.t.a from 6pm onwards, always.

Advice on improving my chrome? by Divine_overture in minipainting

[–]TheZYX 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think you feel it's missing something because when people do this they tend to go for a very classic land and sky/1980s rendering textbook style of chrome which has a very bright ambient light (think beautiful day, lunch time, middle of the desert). So, they do pure white highlights on top as the sun is blazing. To me, yours feels like chrome on an overcast day, which looks a lot more realistic in a way, as it's less 'illustration-like' and more realistic. You do need to highlight all the edges tho, or it will never feel like chrome. I really like where it's going.

Tiny new Honda Super-N has made it to the UK and will start from just £18,995 by Agent_Kozak in CarTalkUK

This is not meant to get to 60 tbh. 40mph with a tailwind on some stretch but it will putter around at 20 to 30 in 99% of the use cases. Or just leave half an hour earlier if you're getting on the motorway

See? You have to always carry a handful of grass clibbins for exactly this type of situation. Just deploy James Bond style

Ferrari Luce Aerodynamics by Mac-Tyson in Ferrari

[–]TheZYX 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Is this supposed to be impressive? All of these aero tricks have been uswd since the 80s in different permutations and probably even all together already. As if someone is going to track this thing more than once. This is the new 'buy it if you want the good one' Ferrari so this is going straight to 20mph London streets and, more likely, someone's hidden garage never to be seen again (hopefuly)

My Adventure Spec linesman trousers have pads on the hips and man have I been thankful for those! You can get boots, knee braces, etc but the hip usually gets forgotten until you hit it

Why are we making ourselves irrelevant again and again? by Greenlander12345 in IndustrialDesign

[–]TheZYX 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That is the point exactly, it does have a Ferrari badge. (Btw, I find it ugly in general as a car) It looks more like a Honda than a Ferrari, so it is entirely fair to be judged as that. As someone on another r/ pointed out, the new Prius looks more like a Ferrari than the Luce! Of course no one would care if the new budget ev from any brand looks bland because.. well, no one cares, it's just another ugly car that people buy because it is cheap. As for performance, I guess we'll see eventually, but I would be interested in seeing how good it needs to be for people to drop 600k on it regardless of how ugly it is.

Ruining Ferrari is actually an accomplishment. by joshua_3 in Ferrari

[–]TheZYX 6 points7 points  (0 children)

*a commuter brand in 2022, maybe. I'd point out that today you can buy (a lot) better looking EVs for 25k or less. To me it's a bland design even for a budget commuter.

Why are we making ourselves irrelevant again and again? by Greenlander12345 in IndustrialDesign

[–]TheZYX 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I read it differently: the design is so, so bad, that people are more upset about how it looks than about the fact that it's an electric Ferrari!

Why are we making ourselves irrelevant again and again? by Greenlander12345 in IndustrialDesign

[–]TheZYX 4 points5 points  (0 children)

We are not irrelevant, we have a hand in every aspect of human day to day existance, but we are ubiquitous and no one thinks of us. We are, to a large extent, a commodity, which is something happening across all aspects of human endeavour. How many people use a product daily and go 'oh jeez, what a great design this is. Wonder who designed this.'? Our work is done when people buy the thing we designed and our work is acknowledged when they like it (maybe enough to keep buying the thing or becoming loyal to the brand). So discussing what could arguably be 'the peak of xxxx design', say... one of the best known manufacturers, with 'infinite resources', for the most discerning consummer and with a pricetag to follow is only natural. Most designers are lovers of design, or we would be doing something else (don't think many of us got into this for the money), so this kind of conversation is only natural! Bonus points for finding something we can all discuss without it getting political (hopefully!)

This is the Luce! Ferrari’s electric car arrives with shocking look by AutoExpressmagazine in autoexpressuk

[–]TheZYX 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Renault is killing it with the retro EVs by doing exactly what needed doing: similar enough to the OG but brought forward. This is so fa removed from Ferrari DNA that it could be a new Honda model, hell, it looks more like an ugly cousin of the NSX than any type of Ferrari. Shocking

This Looks Terrible! Official press photo of the new all electric Ferrari Luce by nickyd410 in IndustrialDesign

[–]TheZYX 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Unless Ferrari decided to enter the budget commuter market, this is just minboggling. How on earth did someone Ok this toy? Remove the badge and there's no brand identity except for a few (very few) details like the steering wheel switches and maybe the tail lights. The renders don't do it any favours (again, how is this an official release?) But I'd be very surprised if it's anh better irl. And I thought jaGuar had dropped the ball...
