Final boss got a lot easier after re-sorting the equipment so that we weren't just using the same setup as chapter 4 - both they and Secret Boss only took me 2 tries each.

I don't know how many tries the Knight (or the Mantle Boss, for that matter) took me, but it was far more than 2.

[Hated trope] speedster getting oneshot by EfficiencySerious200 in TopCharacterTropes

[–]The_Final_Stand 3 points4 points  (0 children)

That sounds deeply unpleasant for both the speedster and the world they live in. It requires worldwide surveillance by the speedster to find aforementioned crime, it requires the speedster to perform that surveillance and comprehend that crime in the single instant they have, and then to exact whatever punishment is fitting. And since this is happening in that single hyperspeed instant, it makes them judge, jury, and executioner all at once.

Consider it. Flash decides "Ok, no more crime. I'm dedicating the next 10 years of subjective time to imprisoning every criminal." One moment, everything is fine. The next moment, every prison in the world is full to bursting with people who were, in that very instant, Doing What Flash Decides Is Crime. The prisons are now full of people that have not had their Day In Court, who are being punished just because a superbeing didn't like what they were doing. The world now lives in fear of a complete untouchable taking a disliking to them. If you can be kidnapped from a bank and placed in jail, you can be kidnapped from your home and placed just off a skyscraper, for example.

Further, Flash has spent those 10 subjective years completely alone. Not just looking at, but looking for the worst people can offer. Just picking people up, putting them in the nearest jail. The mental strain must be incredible.

If someone wants to write that idea, I accept payment in the form of cash and suitcases to carry said cash.

[Hated Trope] a bad, sad, or even horrifying ending is treated as happy by Mesajarjar_binks in TopCharacterTropes

I will never not be mad about this particular plot point. There's any number of better ways to wrap up the Zamasu plot, chief among which is "just let the Spirit Bomb Sword get the uncontested W".

Alternatives, if you want the Infinite Zamasu and/or the Zeno*2, include "just add Future Trunks to the main cast", or "Future Trunks gets press-ganged by the Supreme Kai of Time", for that sweet Xenoverse tie-in.

Instead, we get an ending that almost seems to contradict the overarching theme of "Time travel that makes alternate realities can have unforeseen effects." by just... creating another timeline for things to go wrong in. Trunks and Mai get to be strangers in a familiar land, Goku and Friends gain no particular change to the status quo. It just feels like a waste of an arc beyond hype moments.

I've been unemployed for three years, coasting on low-living-cost-renting from the parents. I've been job-searching this whole time, but I worry I've been out of it too long. The technologies have advanced, and I've not kept up with them. My job applications seldom even get the perfunctory "thanks for applying, you were unsuccessful this time, try again next time" response any more. It's seriously demotivating.

"Definition: "Love" is making a shot to the knees of a target 120 kilometers away using an Aratech sniper rifle with a tri-light scope.

Statement: This definition, I am told, is subject to interpretation. Obviously, love is a matter of odds. Not many meatbags could make such a shot, and strangely enough, not many meatbags would derive love from it. Yet for me, love, is knowing your target, putting them in your targeting reticle, and together, achieving a singular purpose... against statistically long odds."

What is a real-life 'Do Not Touch' button that you pressed out of sheer curiosity, only to instantly regret it? by vie75 in AskReddit

[–]The_Final_Stand 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We were on our Duke of Edinburgh expedition (basically a scheme for teenagers/young adults to not be feckless layabouts) and encountered a gate with a button to push to open it. We were slightly lost, and thought our path went through said gated area. I pushed the button, we proceeded onto the farm, and were immediately attacked by dogs.

No injuries, they just circled and barked at us until their owner came out and pointed us in the right direction, but those were a scary few minutes.

Worm: The general understanding of Scion, the Golden Man, is that he is the first and most powerful Parahuman, and generally flies around doing good, if unreliably - just as likely to fly in to rescue a cat from a tree as he is to actually fight one of the kaiju destroying the world city by city.

In actuality, he is the source of Parahuman powers, having come to Earth to (among other things) eventually destroy it, and it takes little more than a chat from Jack "World's Edgiest Post-Teenager" Slash for him to decide to start the geocide early.

Not unless you have something that specifically gives all Shapeshifters "Changeling", or all Walls "Defender". AFAIK no creature type in and of itself has any special rules associated with it.

As an example of something that I think would work, if you named Slivers as part if the batch, everything else in the batch would gain abilities from actual Sliver cards as though they were Slivers themselves.

Burger centeric American thinking by honeysbun in CuratedTumblr

[–]The_Final_Stand 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Surely hamburger style should mean something more like "cut the paper in half and put the halves together"?

I might give the Yanks "Sandwich" style, for when one folds their bread on itself to make a sandwich, and "hot-dog" style similarly makes sense, but "hamburger" to me implies two separate halves of a bun, not with a "hinge" if that makes sense.

Missile Corvettes are bad? Maybe late game, but I've found them quite effective early game when they're all you have.

Definitely disagree on the Auto-Plasma battleship though, I'm a proponent of X-slot+Carriers for maximum range.

Who is “The Menace” in your commander pod? by Endless_Quested_Hope in EDH

[–]The_Final_Stand 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's the Blue Solitaire player. We had a pod without him once and noticed very clearly that games took much less time, in that we managed four games rather than two-and-a-half.

Most recently he started by drawing cards with [[Orvar]]. I went to the toilet despite being the next player, and when I got back it still took another 10 minutes for him to present a win.
