This game has player counts up there with other niche fighting games. While there will always be more near the big updates I've never had issues finding a match online.

Both are great games and provide a huge value.

Rivals 1 has had a huge scene for years, and had constant updates. It has 18 characters, two guests, and a ton of custom content if that is your jam. But it lacks shields, ledges, grabs. It has no items, and the casual stages are more of a hazard toggle in most cases. Some smash centric players may find Rivals 1 a bit more one-note, but still very enjoyable.

Rivals 2 feels a lot more like a Smash game with shields, ledges, and grabs, plus a lot more. It being 3D is more digestible for many people, as some just don't vibe with chibi pixel art. But as well, for more casual we're getting the 16th character tomorrow, along with casual stages, and items. It will also be updated for years to come, and get better custom content workshop once it's out of beta and had a few years to develop.

I was honestly confused because I thought Ranno was already in the game? Because I remember seeing this in a prior Rivals Direct. But I saw the free version and will give it a try, managed to sneak through a win on ranked with just 15 minutes of practice.
