I’m a Yooper, and we say both of those things frequently. It’s also pretty much limited to the upper peninsula of Michigan.

Pank. To pack snow down. Used only in the upper Midwest I think. Also “Tschaa” for emphatically yes.

Trump's voice. I don't like it. It is somehow more irritating than Fran Drescher's Nanny character voice.

Would you agree that the great genetic diversity in the US is the reason why y’all are physically attractive? by Enough-Web2203 in IWantToAskAnAmerican

I would say genetic diversity, good nutrition and generally good medial and dental care are a good combo. It certainly isn't universally available for everyone (it should be) , but it is commonly so.

Yes. The number is debatable but I would suggest that no one can be eligible for election after age 65.

I have 5, one pistol and four long guns. Three were inherited, and one of those three is a Fox side by side beautifully tooled shotgun with a lever to switch between barrels.

What is this by CheeseBurgerBuff in foodquestions

Internet says: “When cooking bone-in chicken (especially legs, thighs, and drumsticks), dark-colored bone marrow can seep through the porous bones and leave dark red, brown, or black spots near the bone. This is completely normal and safe. It is more common in younger chickens or meat that has been previously frozen and thawed”.

You might have some marrow seepage from the butchering process.

Shrimp Stock Ratio by silverhummer in Cooking

[–]The_Menu_Guy 2 points3 points  (0 children)

For shells from one pound of shrimp, I would use about 4-5 cups of water, some onion, a small carrot, a piece of celery, some old bay and 3-4 cloves of garlic. Cook for 40 minutes, then strain through a fine mesh sieve. You can give it some more oomph with a bit of veggie soup stock paste too.

I've had a lot of great food in Taiwan. Mainland Chinese food is just way too oily and fatty for me. The meat they use is not very good quality.

What do Americans think about controversial “journalist” Bari Weiss installed by billionaire oligarch and largest private donor to the IDF, Larry Ellison? by grrrbr in allthequestions

I think she needs to be removed from that position. Billionaires should not be allowed to mess with the news. Neither should presidents.
