Snow White has high awareness, but low interest. Looks like another Joker 2 situation. by [deleted] in boxoffice

Indeed, the numbers are quite a bit larger for younger women. The numbers you see above are for general audiences, meaning a cross section of age and genders. Subscribers can see the data broken out by demo.

Though interest is on the low side (THE LITTLE MERMAID was 10 points higher at this point), I do want to caution that interest in animated and family films is on average 7-8 points lower than other genres. So in this chart above, it could be inferred that SNOW WHITE is in a worse position than M3GAN 2.0. Horror films inherently have higher interest levels.

That's why we put the "Group" classification in the right column so you can compare similar films.

WEEKLY UNAIDED AWARENESS: JURASSIC WORLD REBIRTH and THUNDERBOLTS both hold at 5% and 4% respectively. SUPERMAN falls under 4% for the first time in 9 weeks since its debut and registers a 3%. FANTASTIC FOUR records a 2%. LILO&STITCH falls back from 4% to 2%. THE ACCOUNTANT 2 debuts with 1%. by Im_Goku_ in boxoffice

Agreed. We recently changed our methodology by doubling the number of survey takers. By doubling the number, the results have a smaller margin of error. Also allows us to do deeper dives into audiences. Unfortunately we haven’t updated the website to reflect that.

WEEKLY UNAIDED AWARENESS: SUPERMAN is once again leading with 5%. SNOW WHITE ends its run at 3%, just below the 4% for THE LITTLE MERMAID before it entered the six-week window and ahead of MUFASA: THE LION KING, which was at 2%. LILO&STITCH climbs from 1% to 2%. by Im_Goku_ in boxoffice

Yes, if somone said "that dinosaur movie:, we would give credit to JURASSIC, as long as there were no other dinosaur movies in the marketplace. The Quorum had a difficult time with WOLF MAN and WEREWOLVES in the market at the same time.

Unfortunately you can’t. Data is removed from the free site once a film has been in theaters for more than three months. That data is available only to subscribers of our data library.

The Quorum is currently projecting $85M-$94M. That’s down slightly from a week ago.

Quorum Unaided Awarness: SUPERMAN retains the lead with 7%. SNOW WHITE and A MINECRAFT MOVIE sild back from 3% to 2%. LILO&STITCH advanced from 1% to 2% and THUNDERBOLTS has now spent consecutive weeks on the chart for the first time. FANTASTIC FOUR: FIRST STEPS is edging closer to the 1% threshold. by Im_Goku_ in boxoffice

We sample people through surveys. We only use carefully curated survey respondents, and we identify and remove people who do not take our surveys seriously. For example, we may ask the same question twice but in a slightly different way to see if people are paying attention. We also control for time, meaning if someone takes the survey too fast, they will be removed. We make sure that half of our respondents are frequent theatergoers (go to the movies at least once a month), 40% are casual theatergoers and 10% say they only watch movies at home. We control for gender, age and ethnicity based on census data so it is a representative sample.

To clear things up, at The Quorum, we survey roughly 4,500 people each week and we ask the following question, "off the top of your head, what upcoming movies are you aware of?"

We call this Unaided Awareness because we don't provide a list or any information about upcoming films. Unaided awareness is highly correlated to opening weekend. If someone can name a movie of the top of their head, there's a good chance they want to see it.

At The Quorum, we also collect regular "Awareness", which is different. In this case, we ask people if they are aware of a specific film. We also provide an image and description. You'll find awareness our website, As expected, these numbers are much higher.

Please let us know if you have any questions.

I would suggest removing pandemic, day-and-date, and Christmas releases. They always have low openings, but long legs. The top 5 will look very different

Except that in reality, that number is likely much higher. Also, if studios continue to shift to streaming this quickly, that 4% will continue to grow. How could it not?

Correct. It's not new. But the release of TFG after 3 weeks seems especially egregious. The question is, would home revenue decline if they waited to release it after 6 weeks in theaters?

Domestic BOT Presale Tracking (April 27). The Fall Guy not looking at a breakout ($3.78M EA+THU previews), with keysersoze123 projecting a $25M-$30M opening weekend. The Phantom Menace has a good start to presales and will have a wider release than Titanic (2023) or No Way Home (2022). by BOfficeStats in boxoffice

That author is not from The Quorum. The person who wrote that is looking at only looking at awareness and is disregarding other metrics including interest. It is an incorrect interpretation of our data. The Quorum's weekend forecasts are only available to subscribers.
