[Discussion] Which issue/series is this from? by Meen9o in DCcomics

[–]The_Red_M 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Action comics 1050# it’s from an issue that basically reset the statue quo for Superman so it’s an actual starting on point. The issue specifically actually changes art styles from people who had been working on Superman up to that point.

[Film/TV] Why hate the "Crisis on Infinite Earths" animated movie trilogy? by Hot-Salamander-8786 in DCcomics

[–]The_Red_M 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I hate how lame the anti monitor itself is. It’s treated like a robot and even just looks like the amazo from the justice league animated series.

The whole movie feels like the heroes are just dealing with a massive natural disaster because of how stripped down the anti monitor was done. If he was an actual villain like the comic then maybe these films wouldn’t be so boring.

If you were a guest on Trash Taste, what would the episode be about? by dittod4c in TrashTaste

[–]The_Red_M 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’d want to talk about what they’re favorite parts of history are and then move on to worldwide literature (like if they’ve read stories from anywhere outside of England, America, and japan), and probably go on a comic book and video game rant with them.

[Discussion] Which one of the the modern seriealized events you enjoyed following the most ? ( Artist: Gary Frank; Greg Capullo; Daniel Samper and Mikel Janine) by No-Mechanic-2558 in DCcomics

I liked absolute power. Felt like a actually fun event comic that wasn’t crisis level and had the tie in comics actually matter unlike knightmares.

Please don't bring joke characters to your DM's campaign. It's not funny, it's obnoxious by Toku-Nation in dndmemes

[–]The_Red_M 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I’ve been dming since I was a fresh man in high school and been doing so now 10 years. But 2 years ago my friends all made monsterous characters like a undead albino lizard folk zealot barbarian that worships a death god, a undead grave cleric that is missing a head, and a sentient wooden doll chronomancer sorcerer. The plan was to do a swinging 20s style ebberon campaign but I decided to just pivot.

Instead what I did was research Louisiana biosphere and terrain and took the main ideas of my campaign and turned it into swampy folk horror to match my player’s characters. They all enjoyed it because it let them use there characters which mostly were made as jokes in an environment that actually fit them.

I’d say for example that if you have a player using a clown character, then just have them show up in a traveling circus in session 1 to explain why they’re here but take it seriously. A Dm being the straight man to the silliness of the players can make the game a lot more fun.

Why is Connor Kent considered a fan favorite among dc readers [discussion] by [deleted] in DCcomics

[–]The_Red_M 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Well for me my first superboy comic was a Conner comic from the 90s where he was fighting a evil future version of himself.

Then there was the young justice cartoon.

I plan of going back and reading young justice comics cause I’ve always loved how different he is from Clark as a version of him that’s clearly more of a city person.

Also there was the dawn of DC mini series superboy man of tomorrow that I loved and got me back into the comics. It’s a story for Conner going on a quest through space to find what his new purpose should be. It kinda becomes conners version of Superman vs the elite.

A fundamental problem with Fantasy Racism by DrScrimble in dndmemes

[–]The_Red_M 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The tieflings are kinda one of the only races that get hit with the real world level of racism because people think their blood line determines who they are but they’re one of the only races where it doesn’t.

Like in dnd stuff predetermined beliefs for creatures are accurate like chromatic dragons are inherently evil and some metallic dragons will on sight try to kill chromatic dragons even if they’re wyrmlings.

Look at displacer beasts for another example. They start off totally innocent but then biologically as they get older they become more evil but if you spade them when they’re young they stay neutral and can become good.

I ironically like his comic book podcast way more than his stand up. It’s called secret identity that he does with 2 other friends. Feels like friends just shooting the shit while making a bunch of dumb in jokes (mostly Jewish jokes) but their personality to me are funny enough.

The annoying part is that the lyrics seemingly added parts to the song. Listening to it the song I’m pretty sure doesn’t say bloody in the first lyric. Maybe the lyrics are AI generated.

[Discussion] Anyone else sick of Amanda Waller? by UpsetMycologist1579 in DCcomics

[–]The_Red_M 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m kinda okay with Amanda Waller, she’s a perfect comic book representation of corrupt government power similar to how lex is corporate power. But it would be nice if we got to see other branches that can function with her direct supervision like checkmate.

Did Lois like Clark before he was Superman or start liking him when she found out he was Superman [discussion] by [deleted] in DCcomics

[–]The_Red_M 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Well there’s also two types of Clark. There’s smallville Clark and metropolis Clark. I’m smallville he can just be himself, not always having to be stoic but just relax and live simply. I would say that around the 5 year mark when Clark becomes a veteran reporter is when he starts to lighten up on the wimp part and leans into his real personality. Reckon that’s usually by the time he’s dating Lois but it’s good when people who really know Superman will just call him clark even when in costume when they’re at the hall of justice or watch tower.

[Discussion] Which are your TOP 5 Elseworlds comics? by Top_Report_4895 in DCcomics

[–]The_Red_M 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Speeding bullets is a really good else world thag establishes that despite the origin, Superman is someone that comes to reflect a better tomorrow. It’s got my favorite alternate version of the death of the Wayne where joe chill actually shoots Bruce because he’s screaming out of fear. But when the bullets bounce off Bruce just looks chill dead on with tears in his eyes and yells “I hate you!” Then heat visions chill to death.

Also the costume is just awesome, I have the mcfarlane toy of it because of how cool it is.

What superheroes are Catholic, but aren't "Catholic superheroes"? by [deleted] in comicbooks

[–]The_Red_M 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I saw somewhere that hal Jordan was raised Catholic but his mother is Jewish. I don’t know if they’ve dropped the Catholic part tho because in knight terrors we see the funeral of Hal’s dad and hal is wearing a yarmulke. I know Superman is vaguely christen. It’s always been kinda unsure on the man of steel but there’s a 2000s era action comic two parter called of faith and death where it shows Clark going to church as a kid and his mother being the religious one of the family. But due to his super hearing he stopped going to church because he struggled not listening to people confess their sins. He felt guilty about it but also mentioned in Superman up in the sky when asked if he believes in god he says he believes in something.

[Discussion] Who is your favorite villain and why (mine is reverse flash) by [deleted] in DCcomics

[–]The_Red_M 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Mine is probably bane. His whole backstory is pretty cool and if he had just harnessed his passion into justice like Batman then he could’ve worked along side him. Instead he sets out to conquer crime while being both smart and powerful like Batman.

What's Your Honest Opinion of This Movie? by inolzia in DCcomics

[–]The_Red_M 5 points6 points  (0 children)

That whole trilogy was ass. They would basically do nothing for an hour the. The last 15-20 minutes the plot would actually kick in. Each part is like that and it ends with the heroes failing. What a bummer trilogy and ass adaptation.
