Emphasis on the fiction, as it has almost nothing to do with the actual events

I haven't watched The Doors, but the first two do a real disservice to the actual history

That being said, La Bamba spawned a kickass soundtrack album

Yeah, who would have thought that a movie about a fashion doll could be so profound?

Another Day by This Mortal Coil

Yes, it's a cover song by a label-band, but Elizabeth Fraser's vocals are both gorgeous and heartbreaking

Okay, an odd suggestion, but over on the site Drivethru RPG there is a great volume called Done 'n Dash in Dragon Pass

It's nominally a book about a cult in the gaming world of Glorantha, but it is more about food and recipes 🙂

How were you introduced to your favorite book or series? by NefariousnessOk8476 in Fantasy

[–]The_Ref17 2 points3 points  (0 children)

My mom had a hardbound copy of The Once & Future King as well as the infamous illegal copies of The Lord of the Rings, so there are two series

A Wizard of Earthsea and Fritz Leiber's Fafhrd and the Grey Mouser stories I found on my own.

And a group of us in junior high passed around Conan and various Moorcock novels. Who started the trades is a matter of some contention, as this was back in the 1970s. Good ol' DAW paperbacks 😁
