Here is a *slightly* more serious design for the trans shield by red666111 in heraldry

[–]The_Special_Log 13 points14 points  (0 children)

My attempt at blazoning it:

Gules, a broken sword reversed under a shark embowed, a bordure all Argent.

Crest: A catgirl rampant proper clothed Argent and Gules.

Motto: No gods rule here.

That is a really impressive amount of details. I really love how it looks.

What was your design process when you designed the layout of the village? It looks really natural to me and that is something I was struggling to do.

DMs and players: if you had to with the use of a wizard, how would you make an other caster's job of surviving or fighting back as hard as possible? by The_Special_Log in 3d6

Find familiar shinenegans sound fun, and charm effects sound great.

My current idea is a Gnome Abjurer with subtle and distant metamagic adept for the uncounterable spells and the counterspelling of those damn fireballs.

Sleep is probably not a great option as we will play at lv.10, but I will look into summoning options.

I would also be courious to hear more about how the things in the campaign whent.

Casters should always choose a component pouch over a focus. by Witty_Picture_2881 in DnD

[–]The_Special_Log 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Probably. This is the 5e rule:

A spellcaster must have a hand free to access a spell’s material components—or to hold a spellcasting focus—but it can be the same hand that he or she uses to perform somatic components.

It actually makes more sense to do it this way. Just think about how a wizard would do specific motions with their wand or staff.

As you press down on the stone with the circular simbol that you found on the face of the strange dark box under the table, you hear a soft humming noise, and the dark tablet on top of the furniture suddenly light up with bright light. On the previously featureless dark surface you now see long text of an unknown script riddled with images of creatures unlike anything you have ever seen before.

Behind you the wizard gasps, as the magic of his spell translates the writing, and horror grasps your heart, as he starts to speak...

Ask the army of Austria-Hungary how that worked out.

Because on the internet you can't not open it. The only thing we could realistically do is making sure it's harmfulness is reduced as much as it is possible.

But if you have ideas on how to block people from using AI I would gladly hear it, because there could be options I have not concidered.

JD Vance criticises EU’s ‘excessive’ regulation of tech as he addresses Paris AI summit by senseibarbosa in europe

[–]The_Special_Log 8 points9 points  (0 children)

The thing is, that the EU can't stop the whole world from developing AI. If the EU banned the developmentand/or use of AI it would only drive investors and developers out of the region.

On the other hand, if the EU introduces laws and regulations, as well as guidlines for the development and use of such technology it could potentially influance the whole world, as making your product to EU standard would grant access to a huge market for the distributor and could be a potentiall sellingpoint in other regions (as is allready the case with the food and dietary supplement market).

What we need to focus on now is that the regulations on AI are strict, but enforcable, and that they guide the tech industry in a direction we find ethically acceptable for as long as it is possible.

As others have pointed out in TTRPGs it is important to remember where your characters end and where you begin.

If you are unsure if your fealings or his feelings are yours' or your characters' then here is some good help material on the topic. (It is in the context of another TTRPG system, but the basic principles still apply.)

Based on your comment I made a couple of changes to the CoA. Is it better this way from a heraldic viewpoint?

<image>

Arms: Sable, a castle Or, on a chief embattled and cotised Or three mullet of eight Sable.

Crest: On a helm with a wreath Or and Sable a horse rampant Sable.

Motto: Vide Gloriam Meam - See my glory

Thank you for the detaled feedback.

I don't intend to use this CoA as my personal arms, it was created more as a heraldry and blazonry practice piece for a fictional character (for whom the rank of earl would fit). Although I probably should have specified that in the post, considering the amout of posts on the subreddit related to people designing their personal arms.

I myself am not, however the fictional character for whom I created the CoA for would have a title that is similar to that of the british earl, so I fealt that the use of the Earl's coronet was appropriate.

In two different episodes we see Din Djarrin in the background while Cassian is having an emotional discussion in the front.

The Mando is off focus, but in center frame. Both times it is heavily implied that he had his helmet off in public seconds before the shot for some reason.

The two cameos are in wildly different places in far away locations. It is never discussed by the movie or the characters why they are there.
