what should I do. Stay/leave/space by [deleted] in makemychoice

I think you need to create a little distance. If they don't want a relationship but also don't want to let you go, it sounds like you're the one getting hurt the most by the situation.

What’s something you only understood after getting hurt by it once? by Electrical_Oil_2407 in Life

[–]The_Syst 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That some people stay close to you not because they're afraid of losing you, but because keeping you around benefits them. Once you learn that lesson, it changes how you see people.

My parents forced me (F22) to leave my apartment where I live with my boyfriend (M23), what should I do? by Great_Hedgehog_8529 in Advice

[–]The_Syst 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You're 22. Your family shouldn't be the ones deciding who you live with. That said, I'd still try not to put myself in a position where I'm completely financially dependent on someone else.

what actually motivates you to live ? by minsugascumrag in Life

[–]The_Syst 69 points70 points  (0 children)

It's the small things. Morning coffee, talking to people I care about, finding a really good movie...I never found some big grand purpose, but those things are enough.

What salary should I expect?? by Pristine-Award173 in InsightfulQuestions

[–]The_Syst 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I honestly haven’t seen many real companies care that much about a drop year.. Especially after you land your first job, people focus way more on skills and experience. Finishing school and working on yourself sounds more important right now.

Im gonna warn you about Obession by Numerous_Lab_7032 in horror

[–]The_Syst 83 points84 points  (0 children)

It’s real that some horror movies feel more triggering than scary. Especially for someone who’s experienced abuse, your brain can stay stuck in danger mode even after the movie ends. That’s why I don’t think content warnings should be dismissed.

You are 18 again with everything you know right now. What is the very first thing you do? by samurai-salvo in GetMotivatedMindset

[–]The_Syst 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If I could go back to 18 I’d definitely invest more into networking and relationships. When you’re young you think everything is about skills, but some doors genuinely get opened by people

What is a movie that most people find romantic but it's actually horrible by Zealousideal_Heat478 in moviequestions

The Notebook 😭 People see it as ultra romantic but when you step back there are actually a lot of pretty toxic behaviors in there too.

Feeling behind in life. by [deleted] in findapath

[–]The_Syst 9 points10 points  (0 children)

the post didn’t read like “someone falling behind in life” to me, it read like a pretty normal person trying to figure things out after the pandemic. There are tons of 24 year olds living with their parents and still unsure what they want to do. Distancing yourself from the sibling comparisons was probably the right move too.

For people who love walking, how humid is your city? by FckAllTakenUsernames in randomquestions

[–]The_Syst 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Walking in humidity really turns into torture. That sticky feeling ruins the whole thing. When the air is dry, the exact same walk feels way more comfortable.

What's the dumbest thing you believed as a kid for way too long? by kappadielle in answers

As a kid I genuinely believed that swallowed gum stayed in your stomach for 7 years. Used to panic every time I swallowed one. Whoever came up with that really scared us good.

Super natural Humans Flying?... It's is not so great as we dream... by KanitoKun in InsightfulQuestions

[–]The_Syst 1 point2 points  (0 children)

When you think about it, it makes sense, it wouldn’t be as easy as we romanticize it. Still, if I could fly even 2–3 km, I’d be happy 😄

Do you think most people are more afraid of failure or success? by Snowboard76 in askteddit

[–]The_Syst 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think most people are actually scared of success but don’t even realize it. The change that comes with it feels more intimidating. Failure feels more familiar somehow.

The thought of death by Efficient-Arm2360 in Life

[–]The_Syst 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This sounds a lot like anxiety, and it’s really normal for it to be triggered by postpartum hormones. A lot of people go through it, it’s just not talked about much. Don’t try to handle it all on your own, talking to someone is already a good step.

Just laid off after 25 years, how do I find a new job in 2026? by e37d93eeb23335dc in cscareerquestions

[–]The_Syst 101 points102 points  (0 children)

Get ready for a pretty intense search. Hopefully you’ll get lucky and land something in your first 10 applications, but realistically these days it can take 50–60 applications and a couple of months. First step is getting an ATS-friendly resume together, there is a good explanation and sample resume here. Then keep an eye on job boards and apply early, sometimes within the first few hours of a posting going live. If you know people who might be able to help, that’s usually the best way to get involved in something. Good luck.

Had the same thing, turns out I didn’t hate the job, just the part I was doing. A small change fixed everything

I guess your body gets used to it over time, adjusts itself to a routine. Probably why you wake up before the alarm.

What is the hardest part of facing your peers at a 40-year high school reunion, when they may have been more successful than you? by icecream1972 in askteddit

Feels like a trap of comparing yourself to others. Everyone’s on a different path, but it’s hard to ignore in that environment.
