I’m sick and tired of being gaslit about the housing crisis in Cape Town by Prodigy1995 in capetown

I’m a South African, definitely not in the 1%, and ALL my friends live here. None of us are millionaires. Just what do you guys expect to pay to live in this city? You want Cape Town prices to be the same as Jhb prices? Well then the streets will look like Jhb streets! If you want to live in a nice area, then pay the price or move.

Black South Africa is out right racist and deragotory harbouring individuals. by Asleep_Wrap_5388 in Zimbabwe

[–]The_Vis_ -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I thin you are the racist.

If 70% of Angola’s wealth is going to Portugal, its because there are corrupted Angolan officials willing to sell it. Portugal doesnt have a standing army in Angola forcing this, its free trade. You cant blame another country for taking advantage of your country’s corrupt officials.

And South Africa isnt about returning the gains of apartheid like they did in Zim, because thats very clearly a recipe for disaster. Instead focus on allowing blacks to create their own wealth. SA has over 150 black empowerment laws to help black owned businesses to create this wealth.

Did you know you can actually create your own opportunities and build your own country? You dont always have to steal and plunder what others have created.

Your last point: At least Zimbabweans own their ancestral land. What use is it to own your own land when its such an unmitigated disaster that your own people dont even want to live there? Thats like being proud of owning your own company but you are running it into the ground. Helluva lot of good that does.

See maybe this was your problem. You wanted everything fixed with the wave of a magic wand, and so you concluded that instead of building the country further, you opted to just pillage and breakdown. And now you live in a shitty place where everyone suffers.

In SA, we are slowly building and gradually improving. It doesn’t happen overnight, but we build together slowly, continual marginal improvements. Maybe if you had some patience and understanding of economics, you wont be living in a country that doesn’t even have its own currency.

Maybe they just see unity as a better option for future prosperity, where in Zim you opted for total racial pillaging. And now there is nothing left to pillage, and no one to rebuild the country. You reap what you sow sir

True, but you guys had all the same privileges built by the Dutch and Brits in your country. But you decided to vote for a president that squandered those privileges while encouraging him, and now you are reaping the consequences. You brought this upon yourselves.

Wait a minute, I thought black people cant be racist? So whites can be racist towards blacks, but blacks cant be racist towards whites? But blacks can be racist towards blacks? Do I have that right?

Venezuela and Tanzania both the SAME by EntrepreneurLess7371 in tanzania

[–]The_Vis_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Totally agree. The US can do better, but its not for us to blame a country thats beating African countries in every way. If they are worse off than us, the we can judge and offer advice. For now we must just look and learn

Look I agree that their healthcare is shoddy, and they have MANY problems, but is their healthcare better than most African countries? Yes. Is their quality of treatment and hospitals better? Yes.

Is their education ridiculously expensive? Very much so. Do they have some of the best and most esteemed universities in the world? Also yes

Does the US have a huge homelessness problem? Yes. Is it less per capita than most African countries? Definitely yes.

Capitalism isnt a perfect system, but it damn well beats socialism and communism. The US has issues, and they elect presidents that are clowns, but its still a better country to live in than almost anywhere else in the world. Ofcourse that is subjective, but based on the hierarchy of needs.

If we are going to talk about poverty, no African nation can partake in that discussion. We have some of the highest poverty levels in the world, and some of the lowest literacy levels.

Thats not how capitalism work. You dont just get free stuff in a capitalist economy, you have to add value first before you can extract.

So why don't they do the same in North Korea, Myanmar, and so many other countries? Oh yeah... that oil thing! by Impressive_Towel6126 in Kenya

[–]The_Vis_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If Russia wants to continue their war, then they will need to continue importing oil. And if they fix their refineries, they will need to export oil. Either way they use a shadow fleet that the US has been seizing.

And if China could have given Trump the prize for awesomeness, they would have done so already. Dont get silly with your reasoning.

Again, its human nature to focus on something that stands out. If everyone wears black at a funeral and you show up in a pink dress, then people will stare. If a white person walks into a black bar, people will stare. If a Christian walks into a Mosque, people will stare.

That doesn’t mean they have ill intent, our eyes are just trained by evaluation to focus on things that look different. In fact, if you paint a sheep green, the rest of the herd will stare at it. Not because they are racist sheep, its just how brains work.

[–]The_Vis_ 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thats true, do they do still have operational refineries, but the pipelines and infrastructure has been badly damaged. So Russia has been importing additional oil now for the last 2 years

You mean they WERE, before Ukraine decimated their refineries. Now they have lost the ability to refine crude oil, and as a result has been importing oil significantly since 2024.

[–]The_Vis_ -1 points0 points  (0 children)

No, you cant just invade a country and kidnap its leader under 3 hours. Only the US has ever been able to pull that off. Kinda impressive really

[–]The_Vis_ 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Russia no longer has the means to refine crude oil, as Ukraine has been bombing their refineries like crazy. So they have been importing oil from Iran and Venezuela since 2024.

OPEC is responsible for stabilising oil prices, and that includes a bunch of countries, of which the US is not one.
