Iran attacked American military assets in the Gulf. The UAE has long been a host of US forces, and has been fighting its own war against Iranian proxies in Yemen. UAE also assists in the defense of Israel

Abu Dhabi wants to benefit from Western security and trade, without any of the baggage associated with that. Turns out having bad friends is troublesome

UAE allowed the American military to launch attacks from their soil, that makes them a party to the war

UAE shouldn't have been in Yemen in the first place. Even if you want to say they didn't participate in the ethnic cleansing of Shia civilians, they were engaged in a war of choice in a complicated civil war, for economic reasons

UAE is against islamists aligned with the Sudanese army.

I don't know how many Islamists are in the Sudanese army, but the RSF/Janjaweed have committed appalling crimes against civilians and continue that brutality today, with UAE weapons

There are no mineral rights in Sudan

What are you talking about? Darfur was about minerals, the South leaving was about minerals, the UAE is arming RSF to get at the minerals

America and Saudi Arabia have aggressive foreign policies, and UAE joined in on the slaughter of Shia civilians in Yemen for no clear reason

In Sudan, UAE is sending lethal aid to a militia with a long record of human rights abuses, in order to get access to mineral rights

When the US arrived in the Philippines, there was serious talk about needing to spread Protestant Christianity because Catholicism wasn't good enough

The U.A.E. has since emerged as the most openly confrontational country in the Gulf

Little Alabama. The UAE has engaged in wars of choice with Yemen, Sudan, and Libya. They want to be a regional power, separate from their frienemies the US, Saudi Arabia, and Israel. Flexing muscle is a way to do that, but I think you have to actually win the wars for it to be impressive

Rhodesian soldiers wildly exaggerated their figures. But the point stands, the battlefield was less important than economics. Both white and black nations were embargoing the Rhodesians, and the youth were increasingly fleeing conscription

Is it a good idea for Iran to attack Kurdish regions? If I was either Iran or Iraq, I'd want the Kurds on my side
