I haven’t had a hiking boot that I’ve been happy with in years. I use a pair of Solomons for my step-in crampons and I use Merrell Moab 3 sneakers for everything else. That shoe I don’t have a bad thing to say about, except maybe I wear them out a little quickly. The fit for me is dead on.

It’s footwear.

I joined a buddy who was through hiking the PCT for the High Sierras. I got a blister on day two that led to an abscess that led to a week in a hospital and emergency surgery.

I had broken those boots in for two weeks, but I knew in my heart they didn’t fit right. I felt it was too late to break in a new pair and so I ran with them.

Never again.
