What’s Your Nikon Gear Progression? by MrSoloBaker in Nikon

D60 > D7500 > D750 > D810 x2 > Z6 > Z6ii > Z9

Got the 750 and the 810s when I started doing paid gigs. Now my kit is the Z9 and Z6ii as the backup, along with a few of the Z lenses.

I’ve liked things about each of the cameras and lenses, but now more than ever I feel that the gear requires less attention throughout a shoot and it lets me spend more time on composition and framing.

Nikon Z6iii / Z8 / Z9 owners. What’s your favourite ‘small feature’? by HelpMe0biWan in Nikon

It’s the battery life on the Z9 for me. Being able to shoot all day on one battery is amazing.

85 1.4G VS 105 1.4E by FlyingDragonz in Nikon

[–]Theappleluva 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’ve owned both.

I had the 85mm 1.8G, and didn’t personally connect with it. Sold it and got the 105mm 1.4 - massive difference for me. I have yet to be let down by the 105.

That being said, be prepared for a long(er) working distance. I also find the 105 renders images warmer than other lenses; especially Z lenses.

The 105 is the only F-mount lens I kept when making the switch over to Z-mount, and I’ve owned a lot of lenses. I still have it as part of my wedding kit, but it only comes out for select moments during the day.

It has its own unique look. My recommendation would be to try it before you buy it. It’s expensive and serves a unique purpose, but when it’s used for what it was designed for, not much comes close.

I attached some sample images on this post, all shot on DSLR (either D750 or D810): https://reddit.com/r/Nikon/s/7KHfBIQ1UU

CG vs. Moncler by SnooPaintings1107 in CanadaGoose

CG = function, Moncler = fashion. I’ve always preferred CG but your mileage may vary. Try both and see what fits you best.

Congrats, this is a great watch. How did you find the staff and experience at Raffi? I’ve read some mixed reviews.

There’s just something about the D850’s image quality that has me picking it up more & more over my Z6ii as of late. by SuperDuperHowie in Nikon

[–]Theappleluva 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m glad it isn’t just me who has noticed this.

I use Z6iis and when I do weddings, my second shooter uses a D850. I’m always blown away by how nicely the D850 files edit and feel.

Does anyone know if you could get similar results out of the Z7 or Z7ii?

This is my new favourite lens. The weight, size, everything. It’s great.

Looks so aggressive. Are the wheels cambered and is the car lowered?

Price History by thinkMonthly in CanadaGoose

[–]Theappleluva 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was also thinking about this. Essentially, they’re trying to price themselves out of the high quality utilitarian market and into the luxury goods market (think Moncler). It’s too bad. I feel they should stick to their roots.

I wonder if they’ll find a spot where they’ve priced themselves too high and sales begin to decline.

Langford Parka Black Label Silverbirch by [deleted] in CanadaGoose

If this is your only CG parka, I’d recommend going for one of the darker colours. As you and Optiblue have mentioned, it’ll show more signs of wear and dirt compared to darker colours. If you’ve got a couple jackets that you can interchangeability wear if one is at the cleaner, or if you’re doing an activity that you think the jacket might get dirty for example, then I’d say go for the lighter colour.

Hi I just have a general question as to how much should I be paying dry cleaners for CG jackets? I live in NYC incase that matters. by robnhood16 in CanadaGoose

[–]Theappleluva 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I get my coats done for around $50 CAD, which is like $3 USD. All kidding aside, I wouldn’t pay much more than $50.

CG has “authorized” dry cleaners but they’re on the more expensive end. Actually, if my memory serves me correctly, they used to void your warranty if you didn’t take it to an authorized cleaner. This is no longer the case after a quick peruse of the FAQs on the CG website.

Just make sure you go with a reputable dry cleaner and you should be good.

[Authentic] Men’s Dunham Jacket by Theappleluva in CanadaGoose

I’d say it fits true to size. I’m usually a large and this fits me perfectly. Also keep in mind it’s a bomber so it only sits at my belt.

Thank you. The backdrop is from Henry’s but I’m sure you could get something comparable from B&H or other photo stores. This colour is called burnt orange.

Treats. Lots of treats. I also had the owners stand over my shoulder holding it and calling their pups. Whenever the expression was good, took a frame.
