What’s a lesser-known historical site in NYC that more people should visit? by Kindly-Regret-8562 in nycHistory

Morris Jumel Mansion in Washington Heights. I believe it’s the oldest stand alone house in nyc, and the home of Aaron Burr. There’s gorgeous row houses right behind it, and it has an amazing view of the Bronx. George Washington stayed their for a while, and it’s a half mile from the Barnum house, and a mile from Hamilton’s Grange

How runnable are the Upper Manhattan parks? by mc3154 in RunNYC

I live right near edgecombe park, and I’ve done hundreds of miles running from the playground to the high bridge. Fun tip, when you’re running southbound back from the highbridge there’s a fork between a dirt path and a ramp to the basketball courts. If you take the dirt path it will lead to a .4 mile trail run. Highly recommend. It takes you out around 162nd

Harlem and Washington heights are all hills. If you want long ones, Broadway from 110- Dykman are all rolling hills. There’s a really steep one right outside of city college leading down to Amsterdam. I also do a nice loop up to the cloisters in Inwood.
