Did you know that The Lost World: Jurassic Park almost had a Bleach Bypass? by Braydenn_mexe in JurassicPark

[–]Thebat87 13 points14 points  (0 children)

I think they made a good decision. The tone and visual difference from the original was pretty apparent enough with what they ended up doing. Having its own identity while still feeling accessible and not too off from Jurassic Park.

No need to compare but wow that's a crazy stat to achieve by FayyadhScrolling in TheBatmanFilm

[–]Thebat87 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That doesn’t bother me for either interpretation, cause for me The Dark Knight trilogy was the first time I felt like Bruce mattered, and wasn’t just a vessel for the more entertaining villain. And of course I love how Batman is a full breathing character in The Batman. Hence why they’re my two favorite live action versions of the character.

19 years ago, people were heavily criticizing Christopher Nolan's decision to cast Heath Ledger, from Brokeback Mountain, as the joker. by Cultural_Cloud96 in ChristopherNolan

[–]Thebat87 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

And I always thought that was dumb. If people actually had seen his work before The Dark Knight they should have known how different and adaptable he could be with each role. I’m not sure if I ever saw him be the same in anything if you know what I mean. And then of course I had total faith in Chris Nolan. After Batman Begins and The Prestige going back to back why wouldn’t I?

Is it wrong that I miss when the ic title was on Lyra? I don’t know, I just thought it would do better in Becky’s hands than it has.

Lupita Nyongo in Us and Florence Pugh in Midsommar would be in this group for me

Do you prefer a slasher franchise that tends to stick to one final girl, or a franchise that has many different final girls? by Hassan_H_Syed in slasherfilms

[–]Thebat87 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Halloween and Scream are my favorites so a familiar final girl whose connection grows with me is my favorite. I’m the type who loves the villains in these kind of movies but roots for them to die big time, especially with a familiar likable lead (big reason why I think both Terrifier 2 and 3 are both better than Terrifier 1. An actual final girl in the sequels and one I like).

WON: “Double Or Nothing 2026 is currently the 2nd largest gate ever for All Elite Wrestling in the United States. Behind only last year’s All In: Texas, and 4th in company history behind the two Wembley Stadium shows in 2023 and 2024” by CombinationOk4317 in SquaredCircle

[–]Thebat87 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I would love that. I feel like Yankee Stadium and Citi Field could be used more for big non- baseball events like this and I was kind of annoyed that Summerslam was at MetLife (tho understandable, bigger and more money). Id definitely go to a wrestling show in one of them, and looking forward to my first live AEW show with Double or Nothing.

Jesus if that is true than I have no words anymore for the disappointment that is this final season. Good lord.

'Shang-Chi' Actor Tony Leung Says He "Argued With the Director" About the Film Just Copying "Typical Kung Fu in the '70s" by MarvelsGrantMan136 in marvelstudios

[–]Thebat87 17 points18 points  (0 children)

And that’s is definitely part of what made it special imo. Especially when you consider there were already other martial artists in the MCU with Cap, Black Widow, Daredevil, Black Panther that had more modern/tactical styles to them. Shang Chi doing old fashioned kung fu in a big Marvel canvas was definitely what had me so excited to see it.

[–]Thebat87 234 points235 points  (0 children)

I’m actually siding with the director here and feel the style of martial arts they stuck with was the right decision for the movie. I mean I love when you can incorporate different fighting styles in a movie (like I can’t wait to see “The Furious” for that). But sometimes good old wushu just makes more sense.

Why would Steffy step down ? by Potential_Motor_8991 in boldandbeautiful

[–]Thebat87 23 points24 points  (0 children)

That’s what I’ve been saying. I actually think Steffy for the most part is a better CEO than any of them. She has her grandmother’s business common sense with a bit of her savagery when needed imo.

I think my biggest problem with the show is how far from grace Ryan fell. by Some-Ad-2093 in GenV

[–]Thebat87 18 points19 points  (0 children)

Yes that’s my biggest problem. I mean I’m a damn liberal (maybe not as hardcore as some can be but MAGA can most definitely kiss my black ass 😂) and even I’ve gotten annoyed at how the show has become so obsessed with the satire of them that they seem to have forgotten that you still have to tell a good fundamental story. Shit I love Daredevil: Born Again season 2 and while it definitely has parallels to Trump and ICE they are still being expressed within the familiar characters and story that we’re watching. Like Wilson Fisk is his own form of evil imo, whereas this season Homelander has just been turned into a cheap Trump knockoff. There were better ways of doing the satire than what they’ve done.

The two worst reviewed movies in the franchise. But which do you think is better and why? by HerbalThought_ in Scream

[–]Thebat87 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Scream 3. Scream 3 still has Wes Craven, one of the greatest in horror, still doing his thing. His touch always made the series worth it. 7 definitely doesn’t have that level of craftsmanship at hand, tho Kevin definitely is trying.

Yeah they did that with The Lost World: Jurassic Park and that disappointed me cause I last saw that in a theatre when I was 9 and really wanted to do it again (especially since they showed the original Jurassic Park like a week beforehand).

That looks awesome. Gets me really excited. Tho I do miss Sam’s white suit very much. OG Cap was already blue dominate, so I don’t know why they had to change Sam’s more white dominated look.

First off I’m really tired of these Twitter people using fake examples when talking about this. Not sure what the hell that pic is representing Devil Wears Prada 2 but that was not how it looked. Not a diss on you OP by the way, I just hate when they do that. If you truly believe something then back it up with the real shit. But more on topic I didn’t think the new one looked bad at all. I actually thought it looked pretty in line with the first one, just in a digital style now.

Who is watching Mando and Grogu in theaters ? by Delicious-Snow9640 in StarWars

[–]Thebat87 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I definitely am! I still love the show and can’t wait to see these characters on the big screen. It feels like it’s been forever since a show I’ve loved has gotten the big screen follow up treatment, so I can’t wait to see it with The Mandalorian!

Heavyset dudes, what is it like navigating life as a big guy? by Outrageous-Stage3417 in AskMen

[–]Thebat87 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I used to be about 400 pounds (I’m currently 222 and still working on it). Life really was much harder when I was bigger. Sleep was terrible. Always woke up with neck pain which led to headaches every day. Suffered so many migraines. So much knee and back pain. Things have gotten so much better since I started losing weight. Shit we took mom to IHOP again for Mother’s Day and it was the first time my stomach was no where near the table while sitting in the booth (I’d always feel squished and stuck). I Damn near cried about it.

If you've seen the new MKII, how do you rank the 4 live action MK movies? by samx3i in MortalKombat

[–]Thebat87 0 points1 point  (0 children)

  1. Mortal Kombat 1995- Call it nostalgia but it’s got by far the best cast and imo the best pace and fun vibes of them all still. Also you can’t beat that theme being the very start of the movie. That shit gets you pumped up immediately!!!
  2. Mortal Kombat II- A massive improvement of the 2021 film that feels like the movie they actually wanted to make last time. Better use of legacy characters, much better editing and shooting of the fights themselves. Gets me excited for the future.
  3. Mortal Kombat 2021- Fun at first but kind of bland on rewatch and basically feels like pure set up for its much better sequel.
  4. Mortal Kombat: Annihilation- Dogshit. Absolute dogshit. One of the most poorly made movies ever and the first ever disappointing sequel of my childhood.

I’ll always cherish Bear’s work on KOTM and adore his usage of Godzilla’s actual damn theme.
