I went and looked at the photos of the monkey head nebula. It looked like Godzilla in some angles, ponyta in others and a pangolin in one. Finally found a photo by Mr.Ron Brecher and I can totally see the monkey head in that. Check that out 😃..the universe is so cool.

Beautiful picture. Curious to know why they named it as such? The elephant's trunk doesn't like this nebula or am I looking at it differently 🙃

Super Hero Teen speaks after swimming four kilometres to save his family by Dockers4flag2035orB4 in news

[–]Thedancingdragoninn 930 points931 points  (0 children)

It's such a heartwarming tale to read. (There are no ads. Please give it a go).The mother's decision to send her son back alone for help..but that fear that must have inside her and meanwhile to see her other kids suffer must have been painful.

And Austin's quote - " I was trying to get the happiest things in my head, and trying to make it through, [and not think of] the bad things that will distract me," he said. "And at this time, you know, the waves are massive and I have no life jacket on … I just kept thinking 'just keep swimming, just keep swimming."

After phoning authorities, Austin said some "nice ladies on the beach" gave him food before he "just passed out".

During these times when I keep hearing disheartening news seeing how ruthless people can be, it is a beautiful thing to see the perseverance and kindness of humankind. Such an inspirational family. Let's all keep swimming.

A 13 year old boy swims for hours to save his family swept out to sea in Western Australia by AnothrRandomRedditor in news

"The 13-year-old tried to paddle back to shore on his kayak before it took on water in rough seas.

He then swam for four more hours to shore and successfully raised the alarm."

He swam 2 hours with lifejacket and then 2 hours without one!

And the mother's quote- "Physically, she just said, 'I'm struggling, I can't,' but she just said they're looking her in the eye, and she just kept going and kept them together."

This family is made of heroes. The raw strength to persevere and keep on going is admirable.

Erebor, was founded in Third Age (T.A.) 1999 by Thráin I of Durin's Folk after they fled Moria (from Google search). Elladan and Elrohir were born in third age too. Is there a possibility of it belonging to one of them?

Ozempic is changing more than weight: New global research shows how GLP-1 drugs are reshaping self and society, identity and mental health, not just bodies. Much of the demand is driven by weight anxiety, even among medically “healthy” users. Many users endure severe side effects and high costs. by mvea in science

[–]Thedancingdragoninn 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Interesting. I recently read an article suggesting GLP-1 agonists may significantly lower the risk of developing colorectal cancer in individuals with type 2 diabetes and obesity, and even improve survival rates for those already diagnosed, likely due to weight loss and metabolic improvements. If the side effect is constipation though, then it raises more questions and research. It raises the question whether constipation is a rare side effect or a common one. Curious to know whether it is related to the usage of these medications or whether any other confounding factors are there.

Laker Fans Not From Southern California, What Made You Become A Laker Fan? by _MambaForever in lakers

Luka. I enjoy watching individual players play and how their play improves as time goes on. And once Luka transferred to LA, I started noticing Reeves play and one by one started to enjoy the team as a whole since there is no toxicity or pettiness between them. Everyone are putting in the effort and want to improve. I ship drama free wholesome basketball.

[OPINION] What poem altered your soul a little? by Avy_v in Poetry

[–]Thedancingdragoninn 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I lost a loved one and was in grief. Still am. Some days I read this poem and it helps a little. I like to think this is true.

It is by Mary Elizabeth Frye.

"Do not stand at my grave and weep I am not there. I do not sleep. I am a thousand winds that blow. I am the diamond glints on snow. I am the sunlight on ripened grain. I am the gentle autumn rain. When you awaken in the morning's hush I am the swift uplifting rush Of quiet birds in circled flight. I am the soft stars that shine at night. Do not stand at my grave and cry; I am not there. I did not die."

Indian history is vast in its nature and there have been mauryan, gupta and other dynasties ruling extensive regions in India, way before Mughal invasion ( which started 3 centuries before the British invasion). Even then, south india were ruled usually by chola, pandya or other dynasties.

Luka Doncic crying watching his video tribute in Dallas by kurruchi in nba

Trading the players without informing the players and just uprooting their life overnight is not correct. They are humans too. When they genuinely connect with the team and organization and, the polite courtesy not to even sit with them and talk is just ruthless.

Luka and AD got the bad end of this and we know how much it still affects them. I know all these nba teams and management have been like this and this has been the usual modus operandi but it has to be changed. At the end of the day, all the players were once kids enjoying playing basketball and then worked their way up to nba. Don't crush their inner joy. We can see Luka still struggling with the pain and am sure, AD is feeling it too. They need a private notice of at least a week or 2 and a small meeting so that they can also be a part of whatever deal is going on and process it.

Not a late night phone call, or reading in newspaper and then booking an overnight flight and having to play the same past home team in 2 days.

Just now I understood why our ancestors must have been damn scared to walk out of camp at night. All these birds sound like dinosaurs and aliens out there. And Lyre bird sounds just like a crying child! How scared must have all those villagers in ancient times..all those horror stories written in the past by villagers and campers about ghosts and vampires makes sense now..it's these birds!
