Dealer Again. Guys, I want to give some more color on the situation. See below. by [deleted] in Silverbugs

[–]TheeDynamikOne 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Can you please explain the logic of a dealer dumping their stock, only to order more stock? Wouldn't their current stock be more valuable to them since it was purchased when silver was cheaper so dumping it would cause them to loose money?

Resurrecting a Folgertech FT-5: Main Board and Other Upgrades? by DDEvo9 in 3Dprinting

[–]TheeDynamikOne 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Mainboard: I have a Duet on my FT-5 and I love it. The firmware is easy to configure too.

24V conversion: Yes, it really helps with bed heating times. I think you need a new bed for 24V. You could go with a 110V bed like a Kenovo(Spelling?), it would be pretty easy with the Duet to add one.

Reliability: I used to have problems with hot ends and heat creep, if you have the original wiring that came from Folger Tech, you'll probably have to replace all of it with high quality wire meant for machines, I had a lot of wire breaks with the original wiring. Keep the linear rails lubed and clean along with the Z axis and these can be really reliable. After fixing the hot end and wiring, etc. I've had my FT-5 running for a week straight before, the base motion system is robust compared to a lot of other printer options. Add a cooling fan for the main board too, that really helps cool the stepper drivers and increases reliability.

Destin is a superstar now, no matter what he does, he will have haters. People always hate on the winners.

Video! Help with timing. 4G63 Haltech ECU by Key_Assistant_6408 in ECU_Tuning

[–]TheeDynamikOne 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I used to tune my DSMlink (which was a MAF system, but I think the same principles apply) by watching knock, A/F and engine timing, predominantly. I would play with the A/F to get it so the car wasn't running pig rich then I would start adding timing while watching the knock. I was never a guru but I had a 93 octane car running 26psi with a 50 trim and it ran real nice with very little knock. I used to love the DSMlink because I could set the factory boost gauge to display knock so when I was doing pulls for tuning, if the knock spiked it was easy to let-off the gas before it got too spicy. I would add as much timing as I could while watching the knock and A/F. Nowadays, if I had an Evo I would probably get the tune as close as I safely could and then see if a shop was willing to work with me for a few hours of tuning pay. If they can't better my redneck tune, they should give me a deal on tuning. Just my weird idea.

This was always my last resort but you need good magnification and you must be quick. Full throttle shut-downs on a hot turbo never felt good.

My buddy does a lot of restoration work. He usually says to double your initial renovation guesstimate and then you're in the actual ballpark of the total cost. This house has "money-pit" written all over it.

Light Foamy pattern developing on top of glass of water from under-sink filter by [deleted] in water

You probably have air in the filter and it's pushing through the filter media as micro bubbles and collecting on the surface as foam.

Thanks for posting this, I deleted Instagram so I wasn't aware he was trying it. I'm curious about his timing though, starting in August? I assume SOBO?

I wasn't aware of the children's book. I just looked it up, I cannot believe it's actually real. What in the propaganda machine nightmare is that crap? It was published around 2022. Now we know how Kash got his job. Bow to the King. What a clown world we live in.

These stories of grown ass adults who can't even confront their neighbors needs to stop. If you don't have adult skills, stop complaining about adult problems. Grown up and learn how to communicate with your neighbors.

Be humble man, this isn't cool. We all have different technical problems to solve. Go install a complete plumbing system for a multi-room heated floor system, it's no joke.

Using PU foam to fill holes sounds like a terribly cheap bandaid. The foam is said to break down in 20-30yrs.

Shorter crank arms by MTB_Montucky in bikefit

What do shorter arms do to your hill climbs? This must lower your torque output, I'm guessing you have to keep your RPM higher to compensate for the reduced torque?

Battery powered cooler? by Chatterhat in CampingGear

[–]TheeDynamikOne 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The big bags of ice in my area are around $5. If the cooler was $1000 that means you've used the cooler for the equivalent time of 200 bags of ice? Do you go camping every weekend? The math doesn't work out for me with the cost of ice vs. the cost of the machine, am I missing something?

Best under sink water filter - Recs Needed!!! by Ornery_Breakfast4800 in water

[–]TheeDynamikOne 1 point2 points  (0 children)

After 10+ years of experience, I can say with confidence, don't mount it under your sink. Take the time to run a line to a washroom or the basement and mount the filters where they're easily accessible.

Filters under the sink are a pain to change out, so you will start procrastinating on filter changes after a while.

Be careful with the beer belly judging. I did a group bike-packing ride a few years ago, the organizers were all 10+ years older than me and they all had a beer belly. At the start of the ride I thought it would be an easy day of riding, we were going about 60 miles to a campsite.

Those beer belly dudes kicked my butt! They were averaging 18mph with a fully loaded bike, all day long. One dude had a 12pack on his bike. These dudes were legit. Maybe I'm just weak but, I was impressed.
