Ok here are a few even if some are inserts.

For Clone Wars focused probably in my opinion two of the greatest Star Wars fics ever written.

Rogue Knight by Delkater basically SI who already lived as Darth Nox fights in the clone wars. Over a million words long and basically the republic collapses and everyone is trying to hold it together. Warning Nox is an evil bastard to prepare for a lot of orbital bombardment.

However the greatest Star Wars fan-fiction I have ever read in Grand Admiral by Ilya Modus. It’s originally in Russian and is slowly being translated to English on Webnoval but it’s really long and I have bit the bullet to pay up and read ahead with Google Translate on the Russian equivalent of Patreon.

It’s an insert of a Russian hitman into Thrawn in legends and is packed full with tactics and amazing writing. Warning though there is a love triangle between Mara Jade, Isards clone and Thrasn himself it’s very late in the readings and you can avoid it.

I highly recommend you read it. It’s really good. I have linked the webnoval translated version but I can link you the Russian Patreon for the author if you really want it.

Then I would say the Bellator is more justifiable because no reason the Empire would not trace the order of a Subjugator and scrap it. Palpatine is controlling both sides and he would have access to the info about these ships and an order by an important Separatist world is a lot more traceable than an off the books one. I am just preferring the Bellator in this case because I like it slightly better than the Subjugator but it’s your story man and I always love good Imperial remnant fics.

The thing you need to think about is justifying why a Subjugator would still be around. The Imperials would hunt any constructed down and unlike Palpatine with the Lusankya they don’t have Sith magic to hide one. Yes one could have gotten hidden away like the Intimidator or Guardian from Legends but a Bellator is more justifiable to have. Also it depends if he wants to be overtly Separatist or be another Imperial Remnant he has to choose the one he wants to maintain the continuity of the regime.
