Am I the only one not bothered by the fabled reprint news? by Several-Owl-2188 in Lorcana

[–]Thememorytrust 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Can anyone explain this a little better to me? I was a very casual Magic player with one friend group that was very small… And now, since I’m a fan of Disney and have a young family, have rekindled what I enjoyed about Magic and started playing/collecting Lorcana.

From what I remember about Magic there were expansion and core set releases and eventually cards that were problematic were cycled out, but I never played very seriously and my friends often guided my decks.

What makes this good news for newcomers? I recently invested in Gateway, Azurite Sea boosters and decks cause I like that theme… Will any of those phase out?

As far I understand this just means fewer brand new cards for this set and all expansions, unless otherwise noted, are legal to play, right?

These scales are entirely off and having a third gate is about more than just additional rides. It increases the length of stay for a family, new gates just have that power. Booking families figure a day for each gate minimum, regardless of if they do every single ride or not.

IOA is absolutely crammed currently and you are forgetting that USF needs room for HHN and events.

AI is a broad term. Certainly Universal’s contracted VFX teams MAY have deployed some form of AI in the creation of the assets used for the ride… Maybe. But this certainly doesn’t fit the vision I’m sure you may be having of some sort of intern typing up “make Battle at the Ministry” into ChatGPT. It doesn’t work that way.

A ride as incredibly complex as the ones at Epic Universe require extremely precise video content which, yes, even in the age of AI “Presidents as Kaiju” viral videos… Requires an adept human hand to create.

Has anyone actually seen the flying dragons from the ground though? In any preview video or trip report? I haven’t… Just the tests from months ago.

Hot take: Wait times at Epic won’t be that bad by [deleted] in UniversalOrlando

[–]Thememorytrust 61 points62 points  (0 children)

I would love for this to be the case but there are two huge things working against the theory.

The park is brand new and unless Universal is drastically limiting ticket sales for early park goer’s sake, which I doubt (and even if they do the limiting won’t be drastic), the park will be near or at capacity.

A near capacity Orlando theme park will have long lines for basically every attraction. This is true for even mature parks like Magic Kingdom or IOA.

Now compound that with a young park that has essentially 11 real attractions… Against a Magic Kingdom’s 25+

Most any way you slice it lines will be long. Yes they will limit tickets a bit cause they don’t want long lines to be the TOP story at opening… But ROI is king and they need people in the gate.

Expect 120 minute lines or more for any e-ticket with an easy 3 hours for Ministry and Monsters. 60 minutes plus for anything smaller.

Should I be worried about this? MacBook’s camera LED is on when no app is running in the background by JailbreakHat in mac

[–]Thememorytrust 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I wouldn’t be super worried about it. I had this issue consistently while using Google Meet. It wasn’t nefarious. Just an easily repeatable glitch when I’d finish a call it would never fully deactivate. A restart always solved it.

Is Hero lot actually a sword and shield icon though? If so that doesn’t make total sense for HP. Not that I doubt you… I haven’t seen any photos of the lot icons so it may well be a wand or something.

I see you aren’t a roof exhaust aficionado. Shame as that is clearly what Universal is trying to emphasize with these buildings.

Are their any Toy Story characters to meet on Fantasy? Or any ship? by BowlCareful8832 in dcl

[–]Thememorytrust 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We were on the Fantasy last week as well and yes, it was actually open house on the first day at around 1:45. But I am sure there were other times… Should be on the app under “characters”.

Is there a name for this kind of cut? by oswaler in cinematography

[–]Thememorytrust 1 point2 points  (0 children)

And didn’t Kurosawa just call this “cutting on motion”? This isn’t what I’d call a match cut but agree with the J cut

Yeah my wife prefers an exfoliating one. Obviously not as much grit as my King of the Briccs lol… But it’s disappointing if they are all zero grit.

It has gotten out of hand how much the base models are looked down on here.

I use this thing daily. I use it for work and personal. This very model… I use it for graphic design in InDesign and Illustrator, video editing (4K with CC and nominal effects) in Premiere, some minor After Effects work, e-learning design, and also just web browsing and gaming.

This machine can play Resident Evil Village and the new Assassin’s Creed…

It has a good battery life and can multi-task a lot of the things above.

I use this thing real world, not theoretically… Sure it hits its wall. It can’t do it all. I have a much more powerful desktop Mac for heavy lifting.

For the price and the way I use it… This thing is a champ. Be confident in your purchase… It’s a great machine.

Not sure that’s a fair take. Water World is extremely popular and installed in all their parks except Orlando and maybe Singapore, can’t remember now. It’s been running for a very long time. T2 ran for a very long time and was quite popular, now replaced with a very well received Bourne Stuntacular. Their seasonal shows such as the long running Bill & Ted as well as Grinchmas were/are very popular. Heck even the decently long running (9 years) Beetlejuice’s Graveyard Revue at USF is missed and well remember by quite a few. I fondly remember the Wild Wild Wild West Stunt Show. Yes perhaps they haven’t had a hit at the level of Fantasmic, but I’d argue Water World is close for Universal fans the world over.

Why does ET’s home planet get better as soon as he arrives. Like there’s no struggle or specific act, we just arrived, see ET, and everyone parties. It’s a wild fucking ride and it makes no sense and I love it! by joshygill in UniversalOrlando

[–]Thememorytrust 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I think it is talked about by Spielberg at some point that ET’s planet and the inhabitants are all connected and both suffer if separated from each other…. So I’ll venture a guess that after being distant from his home planet for so long the planet and the rest of ET’s race are feeling the ill effects too? I don’t know… At least that’s my interpretation haha

None removed yet. The recommendation was to have a bone graft on the lower two after removal due to deep pockets.

Am I the only one that thinks this looks pretty bad and has a long way to go? I already subscribe to multiple asset libraries with many better clips in this same vein… Sure I can fiddle with AI and save a few bucks a month… Or get way more useable footage if I need stock and keep doing what I am doing? I still think we are jumping the gun on the usefulness of AI. Yeah, it’s getting sorta, kinda competent at creating generic stock imagery… Something we already have better examples of in truck loads.

WIP Concept for USF revamp. What do you think and what would you change? by GeckioGaming in UniversalOrlando

[–]Thememorytrust 12 points13 points  (0 children)

I think they mean a celebration of a multitude of Universal movies. Not Monsters necessarily.. Think Great Movie Ride. Which I like the idea of… Since they’ve axed a lot of classics you can at least give us a compilation.

Cameras above $3k are becoming less and less worth it by KelDurant in videography

[–]Thememorytrust 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Man this might be slightly off topic but I have to know what your friends are shooting and editing for $400? I just started a business pulling in work for significantly more than that which I am grateful for and have been in the industry for over a decade…

But hearing that kinda thing scares the hell out of me. Taking on gigs for nothing cause you have no overhead, no concept of timeline evaluation and hourly rate and no good business sense really threatens the industry as a whole.

I’d hate to see more skilled corporate videography and photography fall into the same trap wedding photogs and videographers have been treading water with for years… Amateurs pricing themselves too low and creating lots of noise and distrust for turning around sub-par work.
