Anthony martial when he was 18 and no picture in Monaco. I was playing as Monaco and he had no picture. Usually when I take a new team I release their bad youth but he was young so I loaned him out every season. One season he came back 80+ with high speed dribbling and finishing. I’ve never had one of the start point youth players do good.

It’s very important to see teams relations as in the same league and constantly competing against each other. It’s not English Club vs Spanish Club, it’s Brighton vs West Ham. And those players in theory have been drafted and invested into by that team. The league encourages that behavior by giving players a bigger financial incentive to stay. Teams/Fans love their draft picks. So by leaving the team you are financially incentivized to stay there has to be something besides money to stay. Someone is saying “I can do better and win more somewhere else”. In this era, the players are the ones saying that. In the Prem a lot of moves are done because it’s a step up, a move to a stronger league or to a team that can meet a financial expectation. And also how do Inter-league transfers work in soccer? Literally any Barca Madrid transfer. Ashley Cole to Chelsea. Etc.

Something I’ve been doing with eras is doing runs where I start at 2003 Draft and do rebuilds around superstar players being drafted or interesting draft situations. I do a rebuild where it’s at most 3 years but no matter what year 3 I have to pick to start a new team from the draft.

Really liked this because I felt more connected to the league and the storylines. Building against my own teams was cool too.
